Summer is here. Summer reminds us of the air conditioner, the sea and the ice flakes. Koreans love of ice flakes are enormous with red bean on top as the best and most traditional.
The global spread of the virus has blocked the skies and the seas yonder where you might will have had your dream summer holiday. The alternative naturally is but Jeju Island on further south of the Korean Peninsula.
Driving alongside Yongdam coastal road, rows of cafes will catch your eye. And Jeju Sulsimdang is nestled on the spot with the best view. Get out of the car and take a seat on the terrace to open your chest wide to the blue and jade green sea in front. You might feel like you are in a paradise with sweet ice flakes in your mouth.
If you do not know what to choose among a variety of menus, the basic is the always right way to start with and that is red bean ice flake. If you have company, then add a different kind out of its 10 kinds. The ice flakes here is made by quick freezing of the milk, the reason it gives unique taste.
A cup of ice coffee cannot be missed. Coffee beans here is roasted by CEO Kim Doo-won. You might help giving ‘wow’ to the quality of the espresso. Add a doughnut or hotteok (Korean pancake) if you feel hungry.
6 stores are currently running the business on the island. According to Kim, the sales of Jeju Sulsimdang is one of the top among cafe on the island.
“I have this sense of duty to grow the brand to the world over South Korea because food in Jeju Island is fresh and unique. I want to make contribution to stimulating regional economy and lives of the islanders. Come to Jeju this summer and enjoy the heavenly sea and the wind over a bowl of ice flakes at Jeju Sulsimdang.”
