¡ã Jongsuk Kim / Head of Reinhausen Korea

Opened in 2009, Reinhausen Korea is the South Korean branch of the German Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen GmbH (MR) that has 150 years of expertise in tap switching device, control and detecting device, and transformer accessories. Under its strict management philosophy ‘trust and excellent customer services’, the company has provided incomparable electricity supply and maintenance services.

The service team of the Korean branch is consisted of engineers who have completed the training at the headquarters of MR. The team boasts its skills and capabilities to settle down an issue within 24 hours of calling by carrying out remote diagnosis and/or visiting the site.

MR gained global recognition with its core part OLTC (On Load Tap Changer) used for transformers with which the company has provided topnotch maintenance services for the best quality of power.

There are around 7,000 OLTC installed and run in South Korea at the moment. Many related companies including the Korea Electric Power Corporation are using OLTC to maintain stability of voltage. And it is the job of the 25 specialists of the team to make sure each product must work at its best until the end of their life.

Jongsuk Kim, Head of Reinhausen Korea, majored in electric engineering at Seoul National University and built his extensive knowledge and experience by working for LG Electronics followed by Iljin Electric Co in which he was in charge of circuit breaker and transformer.

“I joined a training held at the MR headquarters in Germany before opening the Korean branch. Since I was already an expert in the field, it was mainly about building human resources and global network. It helped me greatly and I think it played a core part for the Korean branch to be as successful as today” says Kim.

In order to keep step with fast changing technologies, Reinhausen Korea has built a proactive system and introduced ETOS®(Embedded transformer operating system). ETOS uses the ISM technology as the foundation and it carries out collecting of data alongside analysis, prevention and self-diagnosis in real time.

A step upgraded ‘vision information’ also lets the manager perceive situation fast while the open-type data communication interface puts it in more advantageous position in the market.

In terms of HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current), Reinhausen Korea boasts 6 excellent devices: 1) tap changer for supply transformer 2) vacuum tap changer for mid and ultra high voltage transformer 3) active filter 4) ESS (Energy Storage System) 5) manual reactive power compensation and harmonic wave filter 6) statcom. These 6 devices not only can be effectively and efficiently used for HVDC but also for solar power, wind power and large factories.

The Reinhausen Korea’s total solutions of ETOS and for HVDC are received as the optimum models for market demand. “The real competitiveness in the market comes from the products that create market demands rather than be drawn by the demand” emphasizes Kim.

Meanwhile, Reinhausen Korea has been faithful to carry out CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) through donations and social activities.
