The reason a building needs a painting is because it prevents it from corrosion, discolor and worn-out caused by ultraviolet rays, temperature changes, moisture in the air and various other factors. Apart from this main role of painting, it also makes a building look good and agreeable and beautiful. Sangshin Plus is a Korean company specialized in painting buildings and structures. From airport, highway and railway to power plants, small buildings and apartments, the magic touch of Sangshin Plus has reached many buildings and structures in South Korea and made them into agreeable shapes. 

Kijeong Hong, CEO of Sangshin Plus, started to work for Woongjin Coway Development from 1998 and established the current Sangshin Plus in 2000 on his development of ‘Plus Coat’, the first sound-absorbing paint in South Korea.

Hong and his team’s endless passion in the field has brought the company a keen attention and cooperation of major companies in South Korea including Samsung C&T, Daewoo E&C, POSCO E&C and Hanwha E&C and the company now is engaging in average 30 to 40 construction sites every day. 

‘Plus coat’, the brainchild of Sangshin Plus, especially is a main contributor to the company as it renews the coating of a building without changing the ceiling texture every 5 to 10 years.

Many people in the industry recognize ‘Plus Coat’ as to have functions like soundproof, flame spread proof and even lighting effect. It is notable that the ceiling texture can create radon gas during the changing process and this pollutant substance can affect respiratory organs badly. 

In this respect, Plus Coat’s recoating function is but an excellent solution and this excellence was well proved by a number of tests carried out by the Fire Insurers Laboratories of Korea, and the Defense Agency for Technology and Quality, and the Korea Environment Industry & Technology Institute.

As a result, Sangshin Plus received a ministerial prize from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy at the Innovation Winner 2019, hosted by the Herald Group and managed by monthly <PowerKorea>, in recognition of its achievement and contribution to the industry.
