President Moon invited Orum Therapeutics CEO Seungju Lee and HHS CEO Hyeongsup Han to the Blue House on 19th September and signed the 2 millionth patent and the 1 millionth design registration. The former is the patent for tumor-resistant bio technology and the latter is for smart safety helmet. The 2 millionth patent is a fruit of 73 years of the Korean patent that was first introduced in 1946 and it marked South Korea as the 7th after the US, France, UK, Japan, Germany and China.

Moon said “I think it is such a great feat that we achieved 2 millionth patent in around 70 years. Especially the 2 millionth patent and the 1 millionth design registration are both meaningful as they are related to public health and safety.”

Moon pointed out “Korean companies are active in obtaining homeland patents but still need improvement in overseas patents so the Korean Intellectual Property Office need to bring up supportive measures.”

On the signing ceremony, Moon gave a sun clock of Joseon dynasty to inventor professor Yongsung Kim and a sign of secret royal inspector of Joseon dynasty to creator professor Gwangmyeong Kim.
