Many of us city dwellers have dreamed of living in a country house. As we came from nature, we are always yearning living in nature. Recently however, the reason is rather related to health than returning to nature: the relatively high and frequent fine dust and air pollution in the cities. Families with children in particular are very sensitive of this air pollution and they are willing to make a move when conditions are on their side. Talking of country houses, timbers have just been topmost choice. A timber house specialist Plan Tree is famous for its use of the German ‘passive house (low energy method)’ and <Power Korea> learned about it.

20 years of single path as a timber house specialist
Plan Tree is based in Gwangju Metropolitan City. CEO Ko majored in Canadian style timber house at Inha Technical College and extended his knowledge and experience working as a carpenter from 1999. He has engaged in building about 400 Japanese and Canadian style houses for the last 20 years and has earned his fame at the master’s level in the field.

“I was very interested in building houses since childhood and enchanted by houses in manga or picture books. I was willing that whoever provide me shelter and food, I would work hard without a pay at all” looked back Ko.

The sole passive house specialist in Jeolla Province
Unlike other builders, Plan Tree offers the minimum cost floor plan and build directly without subcontractors but with the innovative German passive house method. Passive house is an energy saving building method used in Germany after WWII during which the most buildings were destroyed.

“Architects and builders putting their heads together to bring the most energy saving and cost effective house and thus born was passive house” explains Ko who has professional knowledge and experience in this building method.

The excellence of Plan Tree was well received by visitors at the ‘2019 Korea Build’ held at the Kim Dae Jung Convention Center in Gwangju Metropolitan City; the happy clients of Plan Tree voluntarily came to the fair to give support. Thanks to tireless passion and consistency Ko has carried on for many years, Plan Tree has grown today as the sole passive house specialist in Jeolla Province and ranked the second place at the performance test held by the Passive House Institute Korea this year.

Energy efficient and cost effective
“The keywords of Plan Tree are ‘energy efficient’ and ‘cost effective’. Building a good house not only involves eco-friendly materials and attention to detail but also communication with clients. For this reason, I value highly of the relationship between Plan Tree and clients and we make them as our friends and neighbors” says Ko.

As for the future plan, Ko and his staff are ambitious to open a workshop near the office in July this year so that they and their clients can make furniture together in a way to form a strong bond.
