Caris Guardrail is the company that introduced the world’s first PVC guardrail. It passed the car collapse test of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority alongside the test in the US. In recognition of this world’s first PVC guardrail, Caris Guardrail received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Prize at the INNOVATION WINNER 2018.  

The company developed the PVC guardrail in 2005 and obtained a patent. In 2017, the company registered 6 more lines of this PVC guardrail alongside overseas PCT. Caris Guardrail passed the Korea Transportation Safety Authority test on SB-2 truck in June last year and the US MSAH TL-2 test in June this year.

The PVC guardrail is as strong as steel guardrail and is structured with RIB honey comb that absorbs impact effectively. The Korea Testing & Research Institute approved its durability, safety and economy in comparison with steel guardrail. 

PVC guardrail is lighter than steel, corrosion and discoloration resistant, and cheaper production and installation costs as well as having luminescence effect when used axial light. Recognizing its excellence, the Mongolian ESTO Group, Malaysian MAJU Group affiliate and some other companies in Indonesia, China, Egypt and the Philippines have made a contract with Caris Guardrail; also, the International Road Federation listed Caris Guardrail as a member in May last year and the company received the innovation prize at its Las Vegas conference in November this year.

Another innovative factor of the PVC guardrail is that it turns the harmful NOx substances emitted from car exhaust to non-toxic substances. This is possible by mixing TiO2 with the PVC guardrail materials in the initial making stage and melting it on the surface in 2mm thickness. The Korea Conformity Laboratories showed after a test that the PVC guardrail removed car exhaust by 45%; it is the first case in the world.
