Appreciating Lee’s works might lead the beholder to the way she sees about the beauty of life. Though she uses a brush to paint, she sticks flower one by one onto the canvas with greater effort to give three-dimensional effect physically and peace of mind emotionally despite the process takes a considerable amount of time.

Lee graduated from Gyeongsang National University and carried on her creative zeal in Jinju City and Vancouver, Canada. She has a son and a daughter and the son is nicely settled overseas now and the daughter leads her own life with her husband; this was 6 years ago. So she has had abundant time of her own afterwards and expressed her feeling of love about two children onto the canvas.

“I used to be a teacher and ran a clothing business once. All those years, I carried my dream of becoming an artist because art was a great tool to express my emotions and feelings. Painting is like my hometown” says Lee.

Lee loves using splendid and warm colors. This is because she always feels thankful about things around her. This might be the reason that she honestly and diligently sticks each paper onto the brush-worked canvas despite it takes longer time. Also, her experiment on materials sometimes resulted in using CD in pieces on a work. And this new trying naturally attracted an eye from the art circle.

The work <Beyond The Cross> in her solo exhibition at Gallery GO delivered comfort and peace to the appreciators. It was created in the time of hardship and Lee painted the work with a feeling like praying to God. <Beyong The Cross> is a good example of her will to spread touch, happiness and peace of mind to the people.

“In my solo exhibition ‘My Love, My Bride’, I saw a visitor shed tears in front of the work <Love You Forever>. She might felt something from the bride and the groom in the work and I was really overwhelmed. I expressed the love between the couple and the love of the parents who had to let go of their children.”

Lee also is a poet and writes a poem to every single work to be displayed alongside in the exhibition. Gathering her works scattered here and there, she now is working on publishing her own poetical works. She said that she likes the poems of Heo Su-gyeong who recently passed away and she wrote a memorial poem ‘It Hurts’.

When asked about future plan, Lee said “I want to challenge for something new on new materials and new ideas to widen my scope of art world.”
