Anyang University receives ministerial prize
Thanks to the contribution to Establishment of Vietnam Green City Urban Planning Decision Support System (GDSS), Anyang University received a ministerial prize from the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction on June 27 at the ministry building. GDSS is a project to build eco-friendly cities in Vietnam in response to the problems caused by population growth and urbanization. The Korea International Cooperation Agency ordered GDSS in December 2015 and Anyang University carried it out successfully in cooperation with the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements, the Korea International Law Research Center, and Jungdo UIT; they established the conception of green city and its indicators and index in the related industries in Vietnam. The team An Jong-wook (department of urban information engineering) was invited three times to Vietnam to give lectures on green city, smart city and space information accompanied by field tours; they drew a great response and substantial results. An said “Building eco-friendly cities has become the task of the world today. For this, we will keep exerting to spread excellent policy, knowhow and technology of Korea to the developing countries.” Last year, Anyang University was chosen for the Asia-Pacific Excellent Smart City Project of IDC (International Data Corporation) supported by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and recently has been chosen for the Big Data Specialized Center by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Information Society Agency. 

Anyang University signs MOU 
Anyang University signed a MOU with the Saejungang Counseling Center for industry-university cooperation in the field of counseling psychology on June 2. The MOU includes training and volunteer as well as field experience and officials of 12 organizations attended the signing ceremony. Anyang University chancellor Yu Suk-sung said on the day “We are living in the age where counseling is becoming more and more important to a better life. I believe the MOU will bring a down-to-earth education system on counseling and I’m sure it will foster many talented future specialists of the field.” Currently, Anyang University is running department of counseling, of counseling psychology, and of youth counseling.
