Rice is the stable food for Korean people. Although the trend shows that an increasing number of people tend to eat food other than rice such as bread, Korean’s love and need for rice never seem to fade away. However, it is true that people’s interest in healthy rice and grains are also increasing. Since its establishment in 2010, Babijoa has introduced quality rice products such as organic color rice, functional rice and grains and functional mixed rice. It is notable that Babijoa is the sole company with HACCP certificate among the functional rice producers in Korea. In 2015, Babijoa was chosen for the Hit 500 by the Small and Medium Business Cooperation and won the presidential prize from the Busan Venture Business Association at the 2015 Venture’s Day. Babijoa increased the nutritional value of its products by mixing healthy grains with rice. Organic color rice in particular is popular among children and moms. “Babijoa rice has natural color and ingredients which increase the curiosity of the children who don’t like rice and vegetables” says Kim. Currently, Babijoa is producing more than 50 kinds of functional rice, 10 kinds of mixed rice branded as ‘Momaejoa’ and 15 kinds of grains branded as ‘Sangwadeulae’. “Some grains are hard to eat for many people. So we mixed the grains with rice for natural intake like they eat rice every day. Babijoa rice is good for diet and also it prevents adult diseases.” Thanks to the excellence of the quality and the taste, CEO Kim already started exporting the products to the USA and currently is preparing to enter the huge Chinese market.
