“Enter your own virtual world at BAD VR”
Um Jeong-hyun, CEO of BAD VR

It is not surprising that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg once said that VR (Virtual Reality) would be the next generation platform as the conception is already widely known and spread through many games, movies and exhibitions nowadays. Um Jeong-hyun, CEO of BAD VR, backs up Mark Zuckerberg by saying “VR is a must needed future technology and it will bring innovative services to us through the impending 5G and AR (Augmented Reality). Korea undoubtedly has been the powerhouse of games and we will keep leading the momentum in this new field.” BAD VR is a company that runs BAD VR game stores where a group of people can enjoy multiple VR games. The 270° double-faced curved screens installed in BAD VR enables even the game watchers to feel the thrill of the games like they are in a 3D cinema. “Unlike many other VR game stores, BAD VR offers large curved screens in the open space to give a maximum sense of immersion.” It is common that the open space game rooms can often cause malfunctions but Um developed a sensor that can prevent the clash. The interior of BAD VR is also notable: you are invited into the world of VR straight away the moment you step into the store and you can enjoy a game of your choice among whacking 500 games over a beverage or two always ready in the store to quench your thirst every now and then. CEO Um and Deputy CEO Lee Won-gyun were the playmates since their early years and naturally the staff also is game manias belonging to one or more game clubs. “The reason I use ‘BAD’ instead of ‘GOOD’ for the brand name is that gamers rather received cold eye from the society in the past. And I think the word suits them better since it encouraged their uniqueness. Today, however, gamers are being received as a professional job” says Um. Recently, BAD VR has risen to new levels of fame thanks to the foreigners who gave “wows” at BAD VR which were broadcast on the TV show < Welcome, First Time in Korea?>. Taking the momentum, CEO Um and Deputy CEO Lee are pushing forward the expansion of the business; if you are interested in joining the business, they are ready to offer their knowhow, experience and management strategies to grow the business together. As for marketing-wise, Um already has arranged a yearlong TV commercial plan from this May in order to effectively back up the business. Meanwhile, Um is keeping an eye on VR programs that can be used for early childhood education as well as after school activities as spinoffs of the business in near future.
