“Chinese Character Speed Reading will boost up your brain power”
Professor Choi Jeong-su

Professor Choi Jeong-su is famous for his development of ‘Chinese Character Speed Reading’. He came to read a book about our eyes by chance in late 70s and indulged himself in the world of the eyes in relation to the brain. He expanded the scope of reading to brain development, speed reading and Chinese characters and became convinced that human could surely develop their brain. His research went on for 30 years and in 2003 Choi developed his unique ‘Chinese Character Speed Reading’ for the first time in the world and obtained a patent. “The function of our brain depends on how you train it. My research was focused on developing the training methods and I paid particular attention to the speed reading principle of Chinese characters and brain physiology” says Choi. You can double the speed of learning Chinese characters by using the method and you don’t need to worry about whether you might forget one day as the method lets you remember long enough once mastered, according to Choi. This is well proved by an industry official who gave a testimony “There are hundreds of after school Chinese character learning academies. However, students from those who run a speed reading course win the most prizes at various reading competitions held in schools.” Professor Choi emphasizes that the speed reading can activate both the left and right parts of the brain and it can promote concentration and even affect one’s personality for good. “Andrew Parker, a professor at Metropolitan University, UK, said “Appropriate eye movement can significantly improve concentration and memory. In other words, it could lay a scientific foundation for the excellence of my ‘Chinese Character Speed Reading’ and in fact some of my long time practiced students have shown high academic performance in Korean, English and math.” Recently, the government announced the plan to possibly include Chinese character learning in the national curriculum and the need for effective learning methods are already heating up the education industry workers. Meanwhile, Choi is teaching students at the lifelong learning centers at Kyonggi University and Dong-a University and is planning to better spread his excellent speed reading method to more students and people.
