Tasting the local cuisine is a great part of a travel alongside enjoying the beautiful landscape. Yesan County is famous for the Korea’s largest ‘Yedang Reservoir’, Stork Park and the 500 year old Ducksan Hot Spring. If you’re a gourmet traveler, however, you must make a visit to Gwangsi Hanwoo Street in the county. Gwangsi Hanwoo (beef) is one of the two most famous Korean beef brands alongside Hoengseong Hanwoo. Gwangsi in particular selects only the first grade Korean beef that gives you the excellent texture and flavor of Korean beef. If you do not know which Korean beef restaurant to visit on Gwangsi Hanwoo Street, you are highly advised to try Josunhanwoo. It has a large parking area, 100 seats, a certificate of Korean beef, of model restaurant, of traditional soy paste and of good price and the restaurant sells only the first grade Korean beef. And here are the two hottest menus for you to try: Hanwoo Sukgalbi and Hanwoo Galbitang. Jo said “Josunhanwoo only uses the first grade beef alonside Korean produced rice, kimchi and chili pepper powder. I can proudly say that you feel like you have to visit again once you taste it.” Jo added that he is observing many people revisit again even from far distance.

 Unlike other hanwoo villages, residents gathered together to create Gwangsi Hanwoo Village that boasts 30 years of history. Most restaurants slaughter cattles themselves or being supplied from nearby farms and they only sell the first grade beef aged less than 50 months to give the best taste possible. In 2015, Gwangsi Hanwoo was chosen for ’21 Food Tour Products of Korea’ organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Korean Food Foundation. CEO Jo ascribes his success to consistency in taste and quality and to hard work. Meanwhile, he is actively promoting the excellent taste of Gwangsi Hanwoo to more people in Korea. “Like many people, I also went through hard times to make a success today thanks to the help of people around me. So I want to return what I received in a way to make contribution to development of local economy.” Jo added “Yesan County recently has seen a decrease in number of visitors. So I think it’s a good idea for local governments to organize festivals or marketing programs to keep a steady flow of visitors.” If you are planning a travel this autumn, you are highly advised to pay a visit to Yesan County and Josunhanwoo on Gwangsi Hanwoo Street for ultimate taste of Korean beef.
