Moon exchanges congratulatory messages with Xi

President Moon and Xi exchanged congratulatory messages on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Korea-China diplomatic ties on 24 August. Moon analyzed the remarkable development between the two countries since 1992 and attributed it to close communication and cooperation in mutual understanding and trust.

Moon praised the mutual sentiment formed during the summit in the G20 Germany last July in terms of development direction and hoped that it would contribute not only to the ‘substantial strategic partnership’ between the two countries but also contribution to the world peace over Far East Asia.

Xi analyzed that the mutual effort for the last 25 years actually has brought substantial benefit to both countries in terms of peace and development. He said that he valued the cooperation very high and hoped that two countries would build firmly the mutual trust through rational and stable cooperation.

The Foreign Affairs Minister Kang Kyung-hwa and the counterpart Wang Yi also exchanged congratulatory messages. Kang hoped that the two countries would continue to work together in bringing peaceful solution to the North’s nuclear issues alongside the firm cooperation. Wang, on the other hand, hoped to strengthen communication and exchange and to promote understanding and trust in a way for building a sound and healthy relationship between the two countries.

Moon receives defense minister of Indonesia in Jinhae

President Moon received Indian defense minister who visited Jinhae to attend transfer ceremony of a Korean submarine on 2 last month at the reception room of the Navy base in Jinhae. The Indian military chief of the staff and the Indian ambassador to Korea accompanied the meeting on the day.

The Indian defense minister said to Moon “I’m really pleased today. The ship today is the first and the last one is being prepared in Indonesia and this was all possible thanks to the transfer of Korean technologies. Therefore, the transferring ceremony today is historical. I’m sure that the defense cooperation between Indonesia and Korea would continue.”

Moon in respond said “I’m pleased on the fact that the defense industry cooperation between Korea and Indonesia seem to be expanding. I hope the cooperation will lead to strengthening national defense between the two countries.”

Moon continued “I hope the cooperation would continue in the fields of purchasing of weapons, technology exchange and training. I would like to say hello to Joko Widodo, President of Indonesia and I hope to meet him in near future to discuss on promotion of friendship in depth.”

The Indonesian defense minister in respond said “I would like to show my deep gratitude to you. You are on holiday at the moment but spared a time to meet us. I will do my best in strengthening cooperation between Indonesia and Korea not only in defense but also in other areas.”
