Busan reveals Youth Didimdol Plan
Busan revealed the Youth Didimdol Plan (young-people friendly policy) that covers not only the employment but also their housing, debt and activities, announced on May 24. The city gathered opinions of the citizens through discussion, policy diagnosis and policy network to bring up the plan and the 69 leaders of the plan worked in each division to reflect the opinions. Among the total of 105 related projects, the city will be focusing on the 4 core projects. For this, the city invited young citizens to CENTAP on May 24 and carried out Q & A. Busan Mayor Suh Byung-soo said “It is really worrying that young people today are suffering from high rent, job crunch and debts. In order to improve the situation, the city is working hard to bring up practical policies and programs for them to secure their place in the society and we will keep doing our utmost effort.”

Busan promotes future-oriented technologies
Busan held a citizen meeting at BEXCO for future-oriented strategic technologies and industries. As the prior step, the BISTEP carried out ‘Research on 90 Strategic Technologies and 9 Promising Industries of Busan’ with the aim to answer the coming 4th Industrial Revolution. It also carried out a survey for ‘Main Issues that Will Affect Citizen’s Lives for the Next 10 Years’ as well as a scientific capability analysis assessment that drew a total of 273 ides from the 90 specialists nationwide from which the 90 strategic technologies and the 9 promising industries were deducted. The 58 among the 90 in particular are citizen-friendly safety technologies that can directly and indirectly answer to the safety accidents and disasters. Some of the other technologies are related to ‘manufacturing industry revolution’, ‘excitement and pleasure’ and ‘aging society’. The research team used the technology information for network and group analysis to introduce the 9 promising industries: disaster and safety control, precision medicine, radiation treatment, artificial intelligence parts and materials, big data, high speed communications, manless mobility, cutting edge video image, coastal environment and energy, and smart distribution. The mayor Suh said “The city will maximize its implementation rate through the Busan Science Technology Promotion Plan and the major R&D investment strategies of the city. We believe that our future-oriented projects will contribute to turning Busan as a people, technology and culture-friendly city.”
