위기를 오히려 도약의 발판으로 삼고, 지속적인 성장을 일궈낸 기업의 공통점은 바로 ‘기술력’에 있다. 누구도 흉내 낼 수 없는 원천기술을 확보하고 있다는 것은 기업 성장에 있어 그만큼 큰 자산이 된다. 삼영화학은 1994년 설립 이래 지난 23년간 인산염 피막 및 냉간단조 전처리 분야에서 국내 최고 수준의 독보적인 기술력과 역량을 보유한 전문기업으로 성장해왔다. 특히 자동차, 전자, 전기, 카메라, 시계 등의 부품으로 사용되는 볼트와 너트, 리벳을 대량 생산 할 수 있는 제조방법인 냉간단조 기술은 국내를 넘어 세계적인 수준에 도달했다는 평가를 받고 있다. 삼영화학의 김영량 대표는 “기존시장은 하나의 모기업이 각각의 소재, 절단, 소둔, 윤활 업체와 거래하는 형태였습니다. 그러나 저희는 원소재부터 출고에 이르기까지 일괄적인 전처리 라인을 국내 최초로 구축함으로써 물류비용 및 관리비 절감은 물론 납기단축, 품질안정으로 경쟁력을 강화하고 있습니다”라고 밝혔다. 또한 천안공장 설비 증축을 통해 냉간단조 전처리 일관작업 시스템을 국내 최대 규모로 확장하고, 월간 1,500톤 규모의 물량을 처리할 수 있는 역량을 확보하고 있다. 인천공장의 경우에도 약품의 자체 생산라인을 확보함으로써 약품을 별도로 구입해 사용하는 타 경쟁업체보다 비용절감 면에서 우위를 차지하고 있으며, 생산된 약품을 현장에서 검증한 뒤 소비자에게 공급할 수 있는 시스템을 구축하고 있다. 

무엇보다 삼영화학을 주목하게 만드는 강점은 바로 세계 최고 수준의 기술력이다. 이들은 티타늄, 알미늄과 철 이종접합된 부품용 약품이나 자동차 경량화, 연비 절감을 위해 사용되는 마그네슘의 새로운 약품(Mg Non–Cr free 화성처리제)을 개발해 미래를 준비하고 있으며, 현재 ‘너트의 몰리브덴 코팅장치 및 방법’, ‘철강의 온간 및 비철금속의 온·열간 단조 공정에 사용되는 표면 윤활처리제’ 등 총 19건의 특허와 1건의 특허출원, 벤처기업확인서 및 ISO/TS-16949, ISO-14001, SQ-MARK 등의 인증을 획득한 상태이다.

현재 인천공장(삼영화학)과 천안공장(삼영메탈)의 이원화 체제를 통해 품질·시간·단가 등 클라이언트의 요구를 완벽히 수용하고 있는 삼영화학은 지속적인 연구개발과 함께 전문 인력 육성, 신규 사업 개발 등의 노력을 기반으로 세계 최고의 기업 가치를 실현하고자 매진하고 있다. 먼저 한국화학 연구원과의 공동연구와 인력지원으로 기존 도금약품의 문제점을 개선한 새로운 약품을 개발하는 데 힘쓰는 한편, 이를 통한 동남아 및 중국 시장 진출을 추진하고 있다. 또한 공주대와의 산학협력사업을 통해 기존보다 5%의 원가를 절감할 수 있는 열처리 최적화 공정을 개발하고 있으며, 올해 말까지 설비를 추가 증설하여 냉간단조 일괄 전처리 설비 1위 업체의 위상을 확고히 하고자 노력하고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 초음파 진단용 감열지, 잉크젯 프린터용, UV경화 전문업체인 ㈜노이켐을 지난 2008년 설립하여, 삼영화학의 축적된 기술력을 통해 세계 시장에서의 점유율을 높여나가려는 시도도 계속하고 있다.

Many companies which turned their crisis to an opportunity have one thing in common: unrivalled technology. Not many people would disagree the fact that obtaining original technology is but a great asset no matter what the economic situation might be of the time. Established in 1994, Samyoung Chemical has made a significant advancement for the last 23 years by securing original technologies in phosphate film and cold forging. Cold forging is a manufacturing method that can mass produce bolts, nuts and rivets used for cars and electronic goods and its technology of Samyoung Chemical has been praised by many for achieving the level of global standard. CEO Kim Young-ryang said "If a parent company dealt with many individual companies relating to material, cutting, normalizing and lubrication, we introduced a one-stop processing system for the first time in Korea and the system significantly reduced distribution and management costs." Samyoung Chemical expanded the one-stop processing system of cold forging by building out the manufacturing facilities in Cheonan which is the largest scale in Korea that can digest 1,500 tons of supply per month. The chemical production line of the factory in Incheon also directly supplies the chemical products after going through its own strict testing system on the spot. Samyoung Chemical's global level technology in the field has been a great asset. The company developed 'Mg Non-Cr free' that is used for reducing fuel cost and weight of car and its excellence was globally recognized. Ssangyong Chemical has obtained 19 patents including for 'Hollow Matal Parts Electric Gilding Device & Method' and 'Surface Lubrication Used For Warm and Hot Forging of Steel and Nonferrous Metals'. The company also obtained a Confirmation of Venture Businesses, ISO/TS-16949, ISO-14001 and SQ-MARK. 

The best quality, the best services
The Incheon factory (Samyoung Chemical) and the Cheonan factory (Samyoung Metal) are digesting perfectly the demand of clients from quality, time to unit price. And CEO Kim is pushing forward investment in R&D and human resource with ambition to grow the company as the world's No.1 in cold forging. For this, the company is carrying out co-research and human resource support with Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology to pioneer markets in China and South East Asia with newly developed products while the industry-university cooperation with Kongju National University pushes forward development of optimum heat treatment processing that can save the unit price by 5%. In addition, the company established Neuchem, specialized in ultrasonic wave diagnostic thermal paper and UV hardening for inkjet printer, in an effort to raise company's market share. Samyoung Chemical achieved 18.9 billion won sales last year and has planned to achieve 20 billion this year.
