Customer services training helps Jeju go global
Jeju has seen the record 15 million yearly visitors in 2015. Encouraged by this, the island is preparing to raise its status as a global tourist destination. It is not necessary to mention how important an excellent customer service is in the tourist industry as it not only plant the tourist with good images but promote regional economy as whole. Director Kim Eun-mi of Mi Service Academy is a famous speech and leadership coach in Jeju with her training titled ‘Kind Jeju, You Are the Hero’. Kim said “UNESCO recognized Jeju and the island is the most popular tourist destination in Korea both in reality and in name. But when the residents’ kind heart is not expressed through their face and gesture, how can the visitors know about it? There needs to be an improvement at this point I say.” The academy was established in 2010 and has provided training on customer services, leadership, speech and communication for many public and educational organizations and the service industry. She also is serving as a guest professor at National Election Commission Jeju, member of Jeju Festival Promotion Council, member and columnist of Reader’s Rights Council of Media Jeju, member of Jeju Green Growth Committee, member of excellent tourist attraction appointment committee of Jeju Tourism Association, talent donation lecturer of National Institute for Lifelong Education Jeju, member of rehabilitation, protection and crime prevention committee member of Jeju Supreme Prosecutor’s Office and steering committee member of UNESCO Jeju and ChildFund Korea.

Kim worked as a reporter and MC involving in more than 3,000 events for the last 20 years. As a veteran speech instructor, she obtained certificates relating to lifelong learning, coaching, leadership, speeches and image consultant. Her lectures have captivated many hearts of audiences and she drew changes from their lives. Her middle and low tone in voice, the power of delivering the message and the gentle yet pin-pointing skills in speech have been good enough to attract a great number of audiences. She introduced a instructor’s course called ‘Kindness Givers’ to 78 departments of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and made a customer services video lecture called ‘Good Morning Jeju, Good Morning Smile’ which has been broadcast every morning. She also participated as a co-author of the book ‘Positive Is the Mentor’ alongside 36 renowned figures in our society and delivered her message ‘the world changes when I change myself’. Kim said “The I can do it spirit brings change.
