SU;PY finds your style

If Hongdae, Itaewon, Sinsa Boulevard and Apgujeong have enjoyed a heyday for trendy shops, attractions and delicacies, the fashion creators who once took part in it and are fed with high rent and cliché are relocating their safe house to nearby areas. Yet CEO Lee Kye-chang of SU;PY pushed it further from those trendy zones to set up his select shop in Seongsu-dong where young ones find their unique style; designer clothes, hats, accessories, shoes, bicycles, surfing boards, bluetooth speakers and interior materials etc, you name it. Lee majored in graphic design, business administration and digital media in the US. Back in Korea, he picked up a worn-out factory in Seongsu-dong in early January 2015 and turned it into the current select shop after 10 months of his pouring creative zeal into the interior and display with elements of pop art, simplicity and modernism. In December 2016, he refurbished the first floor of the bookbindery for more space and easier flow of movement and the second floor for a place where outsiders quench their thirst for the latest trend and something funky. Lee prefers less known brands with unique design as top priority. As if to prove his fashion sense, visitors to SU;PY tent to pick up a design, character or style over the brand itself.

SU;PY's uniqueness is eye-poppingly good enough to attract fashionistas from China and Japan. And the good enough is well backed up by trendy mixes of hip-hop, R&B and melancholy or beat electronic music as well as cheap and mid range price tags. Lee named the shop SU;PY (Successful Pyrates) to mean an elitism and a symbol of pirates's freedom. SU;PY's personal stylist service 'SU;PY PICK' especially is captivating the hearts of many shoppers in their 20s and 30s for customized full coordination provided at an affordable price. Encouraged by this explosive respond, Lee carefully predicts the advent of fashionistas in their 50s and 60s on the streets of Korea in near future. Meanwhile, Lee's own brand SU;PY is designed by his talented wife while Lee himself focuses on choosing the right brands that go well with the house brand as well as promotional events such as 'season off sale' and 'brand day'. When asked about future plan, Lee said that he would organize concerts and various projects in cooperation with 'SU;PY Play Crew' and also open a cafe nearby the shop while safely preserving his ambition to grow SU;PY as the manufacturing factory of globally renowned designers in Korea. <Power Korea> wishes Lee a rocking 2017.
