Chiropractic specialist
“who has lived in both propagating the truth of chiropractic and being devoted to activity for social welfare”
Kim Young-gil, president of Good-Posture Exercise Center

Chiropractic created by D. D. Palmer, a Canadian, is the therapeutic technique for improving musculoskeletal pain which is known to call on every biped human being at least once for life. With advance for 120 years, this technique was authorized by the WHO and formal departments opened in the colleges of US, Europe and Japan with proven effects of the technique performed by hand without surgery. In Korea, however, the recipients of chiropractic instruction are not recognized as in overseas countries. Despite such insufficient policies, Kim Young-gil, president of Good-Posture Exercise Center, is devoted to proving the effect of chiropractic as a practitioner while doing volunteer work and social contributions in his dream about a new society.

A specialist who has completed the US chiropractic course
with deep knowledge of Korea/US/Japan therapies

Good-Posture Exercise Center established in Choon-chun, Gangwon-do to improve musculoskeletal problems, such as crooked spine disc condition and forward head posture, is headed by president Kim Young-gil. He obtained formal certificate after two years of study at the ICA (International Chiropractic Association) in the US and bachelor’s degree from Japan’s Preservation FMS College for instructor of Schroth Scoliosis Best Practice. Earlier, President Kim had practiced manipulation technique engaging in the fields of treatment by acupuncture and empty-hand Dongbang Reviving through stretching and correction as an assistant for oriental clinic and then entered Sahmyook Health University for chiropractic. He says that his predominant cases from all around the country are unstable spine caused by cervical disc hernia. With theory that normal spine back stimulates chemicals from brain to strengthen the stomach and intestines, he checks the symptom through a simple test based on the patient’s diagnosis from hospital and then uses different therapies by areas. President Kim engaging in the field of manipulation for life has many other certificates of manipulation than chiropractic. His method of combining Gigong therapy is effective by opening the part shut off from brain in quadriplegia and stroke patients from traffic accident and activating the nerves to move their limbs. Since he finds a wrong part and applies stimulus or pressure with feeling of hands to bring it to place, his methods are well-reputed among patients who suffer severe pain or fear surgery especially for relieving pain and preventing recurrence. Besides, since president Kim corrects undesirable usual habits and posture with prescription of diet and exercise, treatment results are higher than in simple operation. Being conversant with techniques of Korea, China, the US and japan needed for nonsurgical treatment, he is winning much confidence from patients by performing professional tests and procedures which give the optimum treatment for them regardless of age, race and gender. He has rendered free service to poor patients since he was young, which made him the recipient of the grand prix for contribution to Korean peace.

Feels pride in his life of consulting and service
for a society of healthy spine and healthy mind

There are all 300 specialists in Korea who received the official certificate of chiropractic. President Kim studied psychology at Myungji University department of family welfare and acts as a counselor in the field of psychology and pedagogy authorized by Ministries of Health and Welfare and Gender Equality and Family. With much experience in counseling officials to civilians, he is a specialist who uses counseling skills positively in diagnosing patients at the Center. As a professional lecturer of preventive counseling related to the young and the old, drug and narcotic, he has been carrying out free counseling for 17 years. He became famous by appearing at many TV programs including 2006 MBN’s chasing reportage, 2012 SBS Gangwon Television Broadcasting’s Live Today and 2014 MBC live this morning’s new plan for home. President Kim emphasizes that his aim in TV appearance, lecture and volunteer work is not for his fame but for publicizing the field of chiropractic and making a society in which the people’s mind and values are right and healthy. It is primarily because chiropractic is an unfamiliar field except for musculoskeletal patients and because chiropractic is outside the medical treatment law of Korea even though it is accredited by the WHO and there are two professional colleges established in Japan. Though being the field of showing effect without surgery and the treatment of 120 years’ history with intensive manipulation medicine of the East and the West, chiropractic is not authorized in Korea so it is out of insurance coverage for medical fee. However, president Kim is making efforts to reduce the prejudice against chiropractic therapy giving patients advice on healthcare by themselves. President Kim, who has obtained national official recognition qualification for funeral guide, is erudite on human life from ‘the cradle to the grave.’ That’s why while other specialists are frustrated before the hurdle of law and willing to become the shadow of medical scene as coach for hospital and medical men, he chose to inform viewers around the country of the common sense of chiropractic by presenting himself at the press. He also took the role of free counselor upon himself for those who are frustrated because it takes a large sum of money - 7 to 10 million won - to receive counseling from specialists in their regular session program on addiction to horse racing, game and gambling and post-traumatic stress disorder. Wishing for the settlement of medical treatment law for the benefit of the people, President Kim is still delivering packed lunch for the alienated and making a schedule for free counseling. His back view gives an image of the straightened spine of numerous patients he has cured of so far. It is hoped that president Kim who has borne difficulty for so long will see his days when  chiropractic, which has secured its position in modern science and medicine, is released from the bondage of administration in several sentences of the bulky laws.
