경주시, 천북관광단지 조성 등 1조2백억원 유치
경주시와 경북도, 태영그룹은 경북도청 사림실에서 천북관광단지 및 보문 빌리지 조성사업 투자 양해각서를 체결했다. 김관용 지사, 최양식 시장, 윤세영 태영그룹 회장 등 각 기관 및 업체 관계자 등 50여명이 참석했다. 양해각서의 주 내용은 문화관광도시 경주의 대표 관광랜드마크인 보문관광단지를 활성화 하고, 경주를 찾는 관광객들의 취향과 유형에 맞는 관광자원 개발 등을 위해 태영그룹이 ‘천북관광단지’ 조성에 8,200억 원, 보문에 경주의 ‘비벌리 힐스(Beverly Hills)’라 할 수 있는 최고급 빌리지 조성에 2,000억 원을 투자하는 것이 주요골자이다. 태영그룹은 기존의 고정화된 관광형태에서 탈피하여 관광객들에게 다양하게 여가를 즐길 수 있는 공간을 제공코자 새로 조성되는 천북관광단지 210만평에 호텔, 에코랜드, 수목원, 골프장, SBS 촬영시설 등을 조성할 계획이며, 아울러 보문 블루원과 연접한 13만평에는 최고급 빌라를 신축할 계획이다. 경주시는 태영그룹의 천북관광단지 및 보문빌리지 조성사업 경주투자로 양질의 일자리 창출은 물론 지역 기업체 참여, 경주의 새로운 관광 모멘트 등 경제 활성화, 지방 세수증대 등 여러 분야에서 상당한 효과가 있을 것으로 내다보고 있다. 최양식 경주시장은 “천북관광단지 및 보문빌리지 조성사업 투자로 경주의 관광여건을 제고하고 지역경제 활성화 등에 많은 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다며, 투자 계획의 성공적 추진을 위해 필요한 행정절차가 신속히 진행될 수 있도록 분야별 행정지원을 다하여 앞으로 경주 관광분야 신규투자의 시발점이 될 수 있도록 모든 행정적 지원을 아끼지 않겠다.”고 말했다.

경주시, 최첨단교통시스템 교통․관광 한눈에! 
경주시는 관광객 2천만 시대를 준비하고 경주를 찾는 외부 관광객 및 시민들의 편의를 위해 시내버스와 관광정보를 한 눈에 볼 수 있는 첨단교통 시스템을 구축했다. 천북면 신당리 소재 경주시 CCTV 관제센터에서 지능형교통시스템(ITS) 및 버스정보시스템(BIS) 운영을 위한 ‘교통정보센터 개소식’을 가졌다. 행사장에는 최양식 경주시장을 비롯해 김석기 국회의원, 박승직 시 의장, 도․시의원, 정흥남 경주경찰서장, 시공사 관계자, 관계공무원, 교통봉사단체, 버스․택시업계 대표, 주민 등 200여명이 함께하여 개소를 축하했다. 경주시 교통정보센터는 시 교통흐름을 실시간으로 파악, 제어할 수 있는 지능형교통체계(ITS)와 위성과의 교신으로 시 시내버스의 동선을 파악, 센터와 연계하여 각 승강장별로 단말기에 정보를 송출하여 이용객들에게 최적의 버스정보 서비스를 제공한다. 총 222억 원의 예산으로 ITS, BIS 교통정보센터 건립으로 주요 교차로 및 도로에 감시카메라(CCTV 23기), 도로전광판(VMS 7기), 교통정보 수집 장치, 교통신호제어기 등의 ITS 장비를 구축하였고, 승강장별 탑승객 수를 기준으로 100개소의 승강장에 BIS 단말기를 설치하고 2017년까지 확대해 나갈 예정이다. BIS는 실시간 버스 도착시간, 노선안내, 날씨·시간과 같은 생활정보와 관광정보를 함께 제공하여 이용객들에게 보다 효율적인 경주관광을 가능하게 한다. 또한 모든 승강장에서 홈페이지나 모바일 웹을 통해 언제 어디서나 정보를 쉽고 빠르게 얻을 수 있다.

최양식 경주시장은 “이번에 완공된 교통정보센터가 경주 교통과 버스정보의 중심이 되어 천년고도 경주를 찾는 관광객들에게 편리한 교통정보를 제공하고, 앞으로 경주~울산~포항 간 광역BIS를 조기에 구축해 3개 도시 해오름 동맹과 연계한 동해안 발전과 2천만 관광객 시대를 구축해 나가겠다.”고 말했다. 

Gyeongju invites 1.02 billion won
Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province and Taeyoung Group signed a MOU to build Chunbuk Tourist Complex and Bomun Village. 50 government and industry officials attended the signing ceremony. Taeyoung Group is investing 820 billion won in the complex and 200 billion won in the village. The 6,942,148 square meter complex will invite a hotel, eco land, arboretum, golf course and SBS broadcasting facilities and the 429,752 square meter village will benchmark Beverly Hills. The city is expecting that the projects will create more jobs, raise the city’s status as one of the best tourist attractions in Korea one step further and boost up regional economy. Mayor Choi Yang-sik said “The MOU will contribute to activating regional economy and we will provide unsparing administrative support.”

Cutting edge transportation system wows visitors 
Gyeongju has built a cutting edge transportation system for yearly 20 million tourists to see and move around the attractions easily. The city recently opened Traffic Information Center in Cheonbuk-myeon, Gyeongju, to effectively run ITS and BIS at the CCTV control center. 200 government and industry officials attended the opening ceremony of the center. ITS lets controllers to see and control the traffic flow of the city in real time and the terminal installed in each bus stop updates the running time for passengers. The city also has installed 23 CCTVs in major traffic lanes and junctions in addition to 7 VMSs. BIS terminals are currently installed to 100 bus stops and the city is planning to expand the number gradually. Passengers can check the bus running time, route, weather, time and date and tourist information through BIS. Passengers also can get theses information from mobile app. Mayor Choi Yang-sik said “As a future plan, we are working on building BIS network that will cover Gyeongju, Ulsan and Pohang so that visitors can have comprehensive and easy traffic and travel information in the regions.”
