선순환적인 산학협력 생태계의 선도모델을 제시하다

1964년 설립되어 올해로 개교 52주년을 맞이하는 전주대학교는 호남권을 대표하는 거점대학으로서 그간 지역경제와 더불어 성장하는 대학의 선도모델을 제시하고자 힘써왔다. 특히 산학협력선도대학육성사업단(이하 LINC사업단)에서는 지역산업과 연계된 창의융합형 교육 프로그램과 체계적이며 실질적인 기업지원 시스템 등을 통해 대학과 기업, 학생 간의 선순환적 산학협력 생태계를 조성하고자 노력하고 있다.

지역산업 밀착형 산학협력 구현
‘산학협력선도대학육성사업’이란 지역 대학과 산업의 공생 발전을 위해 다양한 산학협력의 선도모델을 창출·확산하고, 지역산업 발전에 필요한 우수인재를 양성·공급하고자 마련된 교육부의 지원 사업이다. 이에 따라 전주대학교 LINC사업단은 지역사회 고도화를 견인할 수 있는 창의융합형 인재를 양성하는 한편, 지역특화산업의 창조경제 구현을 위한 일자리 창출 지원에 최선을 다해왔다. 특히 지난 2015년에는 산학협력 친화형 교육체제의 정착과 내실 있는 산학협력시스템 구축의 성과를 높이 평가받아 ‘2단계 LINC사업 우수대학’으로 선정된 전주대 LINC사업단은 창의융합교육을 통한 창의융합형 인재 양성과 창업활성화 선도, 산학협력의 최우수 선도모델을 완성하고자 부단한 노력을 펼치고 있다. 

사업단을 이끌고 있는 김건회 단장은 “저희 사업단에서는 전북 지역의 핵심 전략산업분야인 친환경공학과 농생명분야를 집중 육성하기 위해 Eco-Engineering(탄소·부품소재·에너지시스템)과 Agro-Culture(농식품품질안전·고부가식품·음식관광콘텐츠) 두 분야를 특성화해 운영하고 있습니다. 특히 기초·응용·활용기술에 걸친 대학의 핵심역량 인프라를 지역의 전략산업과 효과적으로 연계함으로써 해당 산업분야의 6차 산업화를 구현, 전북이 ‘농생명 수도’이자 ‘K-Culture 창조 거점도시’로 새롭게 도약할 수 있도록 이끄는 역할을 수행하고자 합니다”라고 밝혔다. 

특화된 운영프로그램 구성, 산학협력의 내실을 다지다
전주대 LINC사업단은 산하에 인력양성지원센터, 현장실습지원센터, 창업교육센터, 창의학습지원센터, 창조경제지원센터, 기업지원센터, 공용장비지원센터를 설치, 각 센터별로 특화된 프로그램을 운영하고 있다. 

먼저 ‘인력양성지원센터’에서는 대학교육의 패러다임을 산업체 중심교육(DAUM 교과목 개발), 현장중심교육(산학연계 캡스톤 디자인, 현장실습 Co-op 개발), 창의적인 창업 교육 등의 방향으로 개편하고, 기업체가 요구하는 실무능력을 갖춘 맞춤형 전문인력을 양성하고자 힘쓰고 있다. 특히 창의적인 문제해결능력의 배양을 위한 TRIZ(창의학습사고기법)교육을 강화하고 있으며, 특성화 분야별로 나뉜 총 6개의 융합연계교육트랙을 개설해 운영하고 있다. ‘현장실습지원센터’에서는 산업현장 적응 능력을 강화하고자 취업연계형 실용적 현장실습 및 캡스톤디자인을 운영하고 있으며, ‘창업교육센터’에서는 학생들의 창업마인드를 고취시키고, 창업역량을 강화하고자 각종 창업강좌 및 창업동아리, 창업캠프, 창업경진대회 등을 진행하고 있다. 이러한 노력은 지난해 10월 개최된 ‘2015 산학협력 엑스포’에서 전주대 LINC사업단이 창업활성화 부문 교육부장관 표창, 현장실습 부문 최우수상 수상 등의 성과로 증명되기도 했다. 또한 ‘창의학습지원센터’는 학생들의 다양한 생각과 발상이 실제 아이템으로 구현될 수 있도록 ‘상상실현 창의공장(Creative Factory Lab)’을 운영하고 있으며, 재학생들의 지속적인 창의학습능력 배양을 위한 ‘LINC 산학교육모듈’을 제공하고 있기도 하다. 

‘창조경제지원센터’에서는 창의적인 아이디어가 실제 성과로 구현됨으로써 창조경제의 가치를 구현할 수 있도록 창조경제 실천모델을 개발·운영하고 있으며, 산학공동 기술개발과제의 발굴과 지원, 상품화 및 사업화 기술지원을 수행하고 있다. ‘기업지원센터’는 대학과 가족회사 간의 유대관계를 강화하고, 상호 발전을 도모할 수 있도록 종합관리시스템 및 All-set 기업지원 시스템을 운영하고 있으며, ‘공용장비지원센터’는 기구축된 첨단장비를 활용해 가공지원, 측정평가, 시제품제작, R&D기술지원 등을 제공하며 가족회사의 경쟁력을 향상시키고자 노력하고 있다.

“전국 최고의 산학협력 선도대학으로 도약할 터”
사업단의 체계적인 산학협력 프로그램의 우수성은 그 성과로 증명되고 있다. 먼저 창조경제실현 모델인 CRETAR를 기반으로 창업사업화를 강화하여 대학 내 창업문화를 확산시켰으며, 교내 창업지원단과의 연계협력을 통해 2015년 6건의 학생창업을 달성하는 성과를 거뒀다. 뿐만 아니라 대학 출신 학생 다수가 전북콘텐츠코리아랩에 입소했으며, 창업동아리 Cu-Light가 전국 최대 규모의 대학창의발명대회에서 대통령상을 수상하는 등 전국에서도 손꼽히는 창업환경을 구축했다는 평가를 받고 있다. 두 번째는 전북에서 유일한 대학창조일자리센터를 유치함으로써 재학생들의 취업역량을 강화함은 물론, 체계적인 진로 및 취업 One-Stop 서비스를 제공하고 있다는 점이다. 특히 지난 한 해 동안 시행된 진로설계, 자격증, 직무교육, 취업특강 등 51개 프로그램에 12,676명의 전북지역 청년들이 참여하기도 했다. 또한 각 사업별 경진대회 활성화를 통해 대학 내 LINC사업의 확산 계기를 마련했다는 점도 높이 평가받는다. 사업단은 TRIZ 전국경진대회, JJ 글로벌 캡스톤디자인 경진대회 현장실습수기공모전 등을 개최했으며, 특히 TRIZ 전국경진대회에는 전국 14개 대학, 60개 팀이 참여하며 성공적인 사례로 선정되기도 했다. 이후 인문사회계열 4개학과를 포함한 총 5개학과가 4차 년도 사업에 신규 참여하는 성과도 낳았다. 김건회 단장은 “갈수록 고도화되는 현대사회 속에서 산학협력은 이제 선택이 아닌 필수입니다. 저희는 전북지역의 다양한 산업 및 이해관계자 사이에서 균형을 잡고 조화와 협력을 이끌어 냄으로써 지역산업의 창조경제를 견인할 수 있는 선도모델을 개발하고자 합니다. 또한 전북 지역은 물론, 국가산업 발전에 일익을 담당할 창의융합형 인재를 양성하는 데 최선을 다하겠습니다”라고 강조했다. 전국 최고의 산학협력 선도대학을 향해 거침없는 전진을 이어나가고 있는 전주대학교 LINC사업단. 이들의 열정과 도전에 응원의 박수를 보낸다.

Regional-centered industry-academic cooperation 
LINC (Leaders Industry-university Cooperation), supported by the Ministry of Education, is to connect local companies and universities in order to foster talented regional human resources and to boost the economy. In 2015, Jeonju University LINC was chosen as ‘the second level LINC excellent university’ in recognition of its effective industry-academic cooperation system which also has encouraged students to startup alongside the cooperation. “Eco-friendly engineering and agricultural biotechnology are the two core industries of North Jeolla Province. So we are running two specialized teams: ‘Eco-Engineering’ covering carbon, parts materials, energy systems and ‘Agro-Culture’ covering agricultural food safety, high value added food, food tour programs). We are also effectively connecting our research capabilities to strategic local industries to create the 6th industry” explains Director Kim Gun-hoe of Jeonju University LINC.

Specialized programs to strengthen cooperation
In addition to the two specialized teams, Jeonju University LINC is also running various affiliated centers relating to human resource, filed support, startup training, creative learning, creative economy support, business support and equipment support. ‘Human resource center’ focuses on fostering students with practical skills and qualifications through DAUM, Co-op, TRIZ and 6 convergence training tracks. ‘Field support center’ improves student’s job performance through field trip and capstone design while ‘startup training center’ on encouraging entrepreneurial spirit and startup capabilities through club activities and competitions. The LINC received an educational ministerial prize in the startup category and the grand prize in the field placement at 2015 Industry-Academic Cooperation Expo as a result. Also, ‘Creative learning center’ focuses on realization of student’s ideas through [creative factory lab] and [LINC training modules]. ‘Creative economy support center’ focuses on creating creative economy role models and their commercialization while ‘business support center’ on strengthening the bond between the university and its family companies through a total management system and All-set business support system. Lastly, ‘equipment support center’ provides various supports on processing, measurements and R&D. 

Goal to be the best industry-academic cooperation university
Jeonju University LINC has livened up the mood for students to start a business through its creative economy model ‘CRETAR’ which harvested 6 startups in 2015 alone. Numerous students got a job at Jeonbuk Contents Korea Lab and the startup club ‘Cu-Light’ also won a presidential prize at The University Creative Invention Competition. The LINC, as the sole university in the province, invited The University Creative Job Center and is providing one-stop career path and employment services. The 51 programs relating to career path, certificate, work experience and employment, organized by the LINC last year, attracted 12,676 students and young job seekers in the region. Other notable events include TRIZ competition, JJ global capstone design competition and work experience essay competition which drew 60 teams from 14 universities. “Industry-academic cooperation is not an option but a must in this rapidly changing modern society. The cooperation matches the needs and wants of the industries with universities and promotes talented manpower and, by extension, will contribute to Korea’s global competitiveness” says Kim.
