Pyeongtaek holds groundbreaking ceremonyforPyeongtaek Eco Center

Pyengteak City Mayor Gong Jae-gwangheld the BTO (build-operate-transfer) groundbreaking ceremony for Pyeongtaek Eco Center on 26 May in Godeok-myeon in the city. 300 people including government officials, members of the city council and lawmakers, CEO Choi Do-heoi of Hansol EME and residents attended the ceremony. The eco concenter will include combustible waste fuel facility for domestic waste, living resources recycle center for recyclable waste, bio gas facility for food waste and sewage facility for sewage, and boiler for producing electricity and hot water. It is built on a 58,066§³ land with total working expanses of KRW 279.9 billion and it will be the largest scale eco-friendly complex in Korea when competed. All facilities are constructed underground to minimize NIMBY syndrome and a swimming pool, baseball playground, multi-purpose gym and PR rooms instead will be built overground. Mayor Gong said in his congratulatory speech “When completed, it will be the city’s representative landmark and will be a role model for other cities to follow.”
