평택에코센터 조성 민간투자사업(BTO) 착공식 개최

평택시 공재광 시장은 지난 달 26일 고덕면 해창리 664-8번지 일원에서 평택에코센터 조성 민간투자사업(BTO) 착공식을 가졌다. 이날 착공식은 공재광 평택시장, 김인식 평택시의회 의장, 유의동 국회의원 등을 비롯한 도․시의원, 시공사인 ㈜한솔이엠이 최두회 대표 및 지역주민 300여명이 참석한 가운데 테이프 커팅, 발파식 및 기념시삽 순으로 진행됐다. 평택에코센터는 지난 2009년 민간사업자((주)한솔이엠이 컨소시엄)가 제안서 제출 후 경기불황 등으로 약 2년간 지연되었으나 평택시의 중장기 폐기물처리대책 마련을 위하여 적극 추진한 결과, 7년 만에 첫 삽을 뜨게 됐다. 평택에코센터는 가정에서 발생되는 폐기물 등을 안정적이고 경제적으로 처리하기 위하여 생활폐기물을 처리하는 가연성폐기물 연료화시설, 재활용폐기물을 처리하는 생활자원회수센터, 음식물폐기물을 처리하는 유기성폐자원 바이오가스화시설, 하․폐수 및 소화슬러지를 처리하는 하수찌꺼기 처리시설, 전기 및 온수를 생산하는 고형연료제품 전용보일러 등 부지면적 58,066㎡, 총사업비 2,799억 원을 투입하여 국내 최대 규모의 환경복합시설로 건립된다.

특히, 지역주민의 환경피해를 최소화하고 님비현상(NIMBY)을 극복하고자 모든 폐기물처리시설은 전면 지하화 설치하고 지상은 물놀이시설, 야구장, 다목적체육관 및 홍보영상관 등의 다양한 주민편익시설을 배치하여 주민 친화 문화시설로 자리매김 한다. 공재광 시장은 기념사에서 “국내 최대 규모의 복합시설로 건설되는 만큼 준공이 되면 우리시의 명소가 되고 나아가 다른 지자체에서도 벤치마킹 하는 성공적 모델로 건설되어 명품 환경도시로서 대한민국 신성장 경제신도시 평택에 일조하기를 기대한다”고 말했다.

평택시, ‘제11회 한미친선 한마음축제’ 성황리 개최

주한미군과 평택시민이 함께하는 ‘제11회 한미친선 한마음축제’가 지난 달 21일부터 22일까지 시민 및 주한미군과 가족 등 총 2만여 명이 넘는 인원이 참여한 가운데 캠프 험프리스 부대 정문 앞 안정로 일원에서 열렸다.

경기도와 평택시가 주최하고 평택시 국제교류재단과 팽성상인회가 주관한 한미친선 한마음축제는 21일 15시부터 미8군 락밴드 공연, 평택 농악 및 난타 공연, 주민노래자랑 등을 시작으로 19시 30분에는 개회식 및 어린이 합창단 공연, 초청가수 공연 등이 이어졌다. 특히 이번 축제는 지역의 많은 상인들이 직접 참여하는 다양한 부스와 미군들이 직접 로데오거리로 나와 저렴한 가격에 물건을 판매하는 미군 플리마켓이 운영됐고, 21일에는 미군부대 개방행사와 같이 진행되어 미군과 함께하는 축제로서의 발전된 면모를 보여주었다.

이어 22일에는 주민노래자랑, 민요 보존회 공연, 태권도 시범단 공연, 팽성노인복지관 합창단 공연, 초청가수 공연과 미8군 마칭밴드 공연이 이루어졌다. 특히 미8군 마칭밴드 공연은 특색 있는 볼거리를 제공하여 지역주민들의 큰 호응을 얻었다.

이날 개회식에서 공재광 평택시장은 축사를 통해 “축제 이름처럼 모두가 한마음이 되는 자리가 되길 바라며, 평택시에서도 미군과 미군가족, 시민들이 함께 호흡하며 즐길 수 있는 유익한 프로그램을 위해 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 전했다.

이외에도 전통시장 초청 홍보부스 운영, 세계전통의상체험, 심폐소생술 체험, 슈퍼오닝 홍보관, 통합건강증진사업 홍보관, 한미음식부스 등 풍성한 볼거리, 놀거리, 먹거리가 마련되어 주한미군과 가족, 시민이 즐거운 주말을 보내며 잊지 못할 추억을 만들었다. 어느덧 11회째를 맞이하는 한미친선 한마음축제는 평택시민과 미군이 서로의 문화를 이해하고 존중하며 동반자적 선린우호를 돈독히 할 수 있는 계기가 될 것으로 전망된다.

Pyeongtaek holds groundbreaking ceremonyforPyeongtaek Eco Center

Pyengteak City Mayor Gong Jae-gwangheld the BTO (build-operate-transfer) groundbreaking ceremony for Pyeongtaek Eco Center on 26 May in Godeok-myeon in the city. 300 people including government officials, members of the city council and lawmakers, CEO Choi Do-heoi of Hansol EME and residents attended the ceremony. The project was delayed for 2 years for economic recession since 2009 but the city pushed it forward in order to bring up measures for disposal of waste. The eco concenter will include combustible waste fuel facility for domestic waste, living resources recycle center for recyclable waste, bio gas facility for food waste and sewage facility for sewage, and boiler for producing electricity and hot water. It is built on a 58,066㎡ land with total working expanses of KRW 279.9 billion and it will be the largest scale eco-friendly complex in Korea when competed. All facilities are constructed underground to minimize NIMBY syndrome and a swimming pool, baseball playground, multi-purpose gym and PR rooms instead will be built overground. Mayor Gong said in his congratulatory speech “When completed, it will be the city’s representative landmark and will be a role model for other cities to follow.”

Pyeongtaekholds 11th Korea-US Friendly Festival

The 11th Korea-US Friendly Festival was held on 21-22 May in front of Camp Humphreys. Hosted by Pyeongtaek City and supervised by Pyeongtaek Korea Foundation, the festival attracted 20,000 soldiers and families and the Eight US Army rock band, regionaltraditional Korean music andNanta bands and children choir and pop singers took the stage to give performance and resident singing contest was also held. Many soldiers and families sold their goods in the flea market during the festival and the army opened its door for normal people on 21 which surprised the public for its openness. Continuous events of resident singing contest, traditional Korean song singing, Taekwondo demonstration, choral singing and performance of the Eight US Army Marching Band, which attracted a great attention, were took place on 22. Mayor Gong Jae-gwang said “The city will give unsparing support for the festival so that the soldiers, their families and citizens share and live together in harmony.”Other interesting attractions included world costume experience, CPR demonstration, Super O’ningpromotion, total health promotion project and Korea-US food booth that gave both the performers and visitors unforgettable experience. The festival this year was praised for strengthening cultural exchanges and promoting friendly relationship between the two countries.
