Experiencing the premium taste and entertainment at Kyochon Chicken Hwanggeum Branch

"We will provide differentiated customer services"
Manager Yoon Min-hwan of Kyochon Chicken Hwanggeum Branch

Korea's largest restaurant with luxury interior

Korean's love of chicken is unquenchable. Daegu in particular shows unusual enthusiasm when it comes to it. The city holds Chimac (chicken & beer) Festival every July with 800,000 average visitors and 250,000 chicken were consumed during the period. It is not surprising that Kyochon Chicken Hwanggeum Branch located in Suseong District, Daegu, is attracting a great number of customers. But their differentiated service actually is surprising the customers. The branch opened its door in December 2014 in Hwanggeum-dong which is rising as a new mecca for dine-out. The branch manager Yoon says "It was long time ago that Korea's chicken market was regarded as red ocean. But I thought that I could keep captivating people if I could create chicken as a culture over food." The branch is the largest in space (1,200 square meters) among all Kyochon Chicken branches. The hall of the restaurant is made of luxurious imported materials, HD TV is installed, wax of official model Lee Min-ho standing in the center (functions as photo zone), and mirror TV worth KRW 10 million is attached on the toilet mirror. The branch is functioning as the role model of CEO Gwon Won-gang of Kyochon Chicken's determination to turn the brand as mid and large size family restaurant. And the manager Yoon proved his ability in management and creativity and he received Creative Entrepreneur Prize at The 2nd Daegu Gyeongbuk Creative Economy Festival.

Introducing hand made beer and European style chicken

Apart from large space and luxury interior, Yoon introduced hand made beer and European style chicken. He says "People love chicken with beer because they both enhance its taste. But people at the same time want to have different taste of beer and chicken. This is the point where we introduced a variety of menus which include Kyochon Wings, Red Wings, Salsal Chicken in addition to the existing menus." Yoon also introduced rotating oak wood grilled chicken (Latino style) for the first time and the imported French rosemary machine 'Rotishow' with which the chefs cook the chickens. Yoon says "Kyochon Tongtak Gold gives a clean taste with charcoal fire-like smell and Rosemary Koko is full of herbal fragrance. And the both can only be tasted in this branch. We also use only healthy and natural ingredients and provide mixed rice and porridge as side dishes for all menus." It is the first branch to sell hand made beer made through low-temperature ripening as well as a variety of world beer, cocktail, wine, whisky and of course soju. Yoon also pioneered the US Army in Korea to provide Kyochon Chicken on the occasion of participating in Wine and Jazz Festival held at Camp Walker in August last year as the first Korean food company. Encouraged by this, Kyochon Chicken is providing their food and services for various events.

The restaurant that can touch the heart of customers

Kyochon Chicken Hwanggeum Branch invited each 50 single women and men to the restaurant on 16 last month for 'Burning Chimac Party'. With chicken, beer and rotation meeting, a couple was made. Yoon says "I happened to know that there were many single men and women in the city and I brought up the idea. I will keep carrying out the event on the third Saturday of every month and I hope the event will be a small help to solve the low-birth rate in Korea." This means that the restaurant is functioning as a cultural space over just eating food. Another example is that Yoon appointed Wednesday as Culture Day so that customers can enjoy chimac with music and art performance. Last month, a mixed choir 'Incanto Solist Ensemble' performed a surprise opera. Also, the walls of the open-spaced second floor is covered with mural of European cafe street so that customers get different experience. Meanwhile, Yoon is providing utmost care for his staff through making legal contract, paying more than minimum wage, non-duty allowance and overnight allowance. For this reason, Kyochon Chicken Hwanggeum Branch was appointed as the first Good Restaurant from the city. In addition, Yoon and the staff are doing social service activity once in a month to help people in need. Yoon concluded "With Hwanggeum Branch as the role model, more and more branches will follow our suit. When it is successfully settled in Korea, we will then pioneer global market through continuous R&D." Power Korea wishes Yoon and Kyochon Chicken Hwanggeum Branch will be the representative chimac restaurant in Daegu in the near future.
