국내기술로 만든 매립형 시스템매트, ‘윌매트’

쾌적한 실내 환경은 업무의 효율을 높일 뿐 아니라 건강을 위해서도 중요한 문제다. 특히 실내공기의 환기가 어려운 겨울철이 되면 유입된 먼지로 인해 이산화탄소와 바이러스 균이 증가하게 되며, 이는 호흡기 질환과 감기 등의 증상을 일으키는 원인이 된다. 

오염물질 유입 90% 이상 차단
유럽 등의 선진국에서는 이미 오래전부터 실내공기의 오염을 막고 쾌적한 환경을 조성하기 위해 다양한 시스템을 개발하고 적용해왔다. 그 가운데서도 건물의 출입구나 방풍실 등에 조성되는 시스템매트는 건물마다 설치되지 않은 곳을 찾아보기 힘들 정도로 보편화되어 있다. 이 시스템매트를 국내 환경에 적합하도록 개선하고 국내 최초로 매립형 시스템매트를 개발해 선보인 곳이 바로 에코시스이다.

에코시스에서 개발한 매립형 시스템매트인 ‘윌매트’는 이물질과 미세먼지를 90% 이상 제거할 수 있는 신개념 제품이다. 설치와 시공이 간편할 뿐더러 유지보수도 편리해 공공기관이나 기업, 병원, 각종 산업현장에서 각광받고 있다. 에코시스의 김국경 대표는 “윌매트는 알루미늄 재질로 되어 있어 소모품 교체만으로 반영구적 사용이 가능합니다. 또한 국내생산제품으로 고객이 요청하는 규격대로 주문 제작이 가능하며, 논슬립 기능으로 안전사고의 발생을 방지할 수 있습니다”라고 설명했다. 윌매트는 외부로부터의 오염물을 3단계에 걸쳐 제거한다. 1단계에서는 흙과 이물질을, 2단계에서는 거친 먼지를, 3단계에서는 미세먼지를 없애준다. 마감재질이 타이어 소재의 친환경 EPDM과 폴리프로필렌(PP)재질의 카펫, 알루미늄메탈 재질로 구성되어 내마모성, 내구성, 유지보수 등이 뛰어나고, 방염처리까지 이루어져 안전하게 사용할 수 있다. 또한 별도의 배수 트렌치를 설치하면 우천 시 자연배수가 가능해 건물 내 물기 유입도 차단할 수 있다. 

국내 최고의 자부심으로 세계를 노리다
윌매트의 특별한 점은 건물의 품격을 높이기 위한 디자인에도 상당한 노력을 기울였다는 점이다. 건물의 특성에 따라 상호나 브랜드, 로고 등을 이용한 패턴 제작도 가능하며, 매립형이기 때문에 대리석이나 타일 등의 바닥 마감재선과 일치해 인테리어적인 효과가 우수하다. 이 같은 강점으로 에코시스는 최근 국내 매트 시장에서 선풍적인 인기를 누리고 있다. 현재 인천국제공항과 제주공항, SK하이닉스, 신촌세브란스병원, 국회의원회관, 가정법원, 한국외국어대 등의 건물에 에코시스의 제품이 들어가 있다. 김 대표는 “그동안 국내 매트 시장은 수입제품이 장악하고 있었습니다. 그러나 매트의 특성상 보수나 시공을 하려면 직접 현장에서 사이즈와 바닥의 상태를 확인해야 하기 때문에 수입 제품의 경우 발주와 운송에 상당한 시간이 소요되는 문제가 있었습니다”라고 말했다. 기존 수입매트의 연한이 다되어 교체를 원하던 대기업들이 먼저 에코시스 윌매트의 우수성에 주목했다. 수입 제품과 충분히 경쟁할 수 있을 정도로 우수한 기능을 갖췄으면서, 국내 생산으로 손쉽게 유지·보수가 가능하다는 점, 그리고 수입하는 것에 비해 가격이 저렴하다는 점, 수가공을 통해 문양을 맞추기 때문에 심미성이 뛰어나다는 장점이 부각됐기 때문이다. 유수의 기업과 공공기관, 대형 건물 등의 시공을 토대로 에코시스는 시스템매트 업계의 선두주자로 자리매김하며 국내 시장 대부분을 장악하고 있다. 지금은 대부분의 건물주들이 에코시스의 매립형 윌매트를 알고 있으며, 일부 건물의 경우 윌매트 시공을 염두에 두고 건축설계를 진행하기도 한다. 

현재 에코시스는 새로운 제품 개발에 박차를 가하고 있다. 지난해에는 정전 등의 비상시 출입구를 표시할 수 있는 야광매트를 개발해 특허를 받았으며, 오는 2월에는 유도등과 방수 기능을 갖춘 제품을 새롭게 선보일 예정이다. 또한 강화된 논슬립 기능으로 경사로 등에서의 안전사고를 방지할 수 있어 산업시설, 빌딩 등의 건물 뿐 아니라 병원, 학교, 주택 등에서도 높은 효용을 가진 제품으로 탈바꿈하고 있다. 실제로 최근 삼성건설의 미래주택 모델에서 윌매트를 차용하기도 했다. 김 대표는 “어떻게 하면 더 나은 매트를 개발할 수 있을지 끊임없이 고민하며 연구하고 있습니다. 교체가 불필요한 제품을 만들어서 수익성이 떨어진다는 핀잔을 듣더라도 소비자들에게 더 좋은 제품, 더 뛰어난 제품을 선보이고자 매진할 생각입니다”라고 밝혔다. 그는 가까운 시일 내에 조달청에 등록해 관급 공사에 적극 나설 방침이며, 자동화 기계 시스템도 도입해 인도, 인도네시아, 캐나다, 베트남 등의 해외시장도 개척해나갈 계획이다.

Flush type system mat 'Wilmat' boasts pure domestic technology

Many advanced countries has developed and applied numerous devices that can prevent polluted substance coming into the room. System mat, usually installed at the entrance of a building, among the products, is most popular in the current market. However, a company called Ecosys has been improving the functions of system mat for domestic environment and developed Korea's first flush type system mat called 'Wilmat'. It can remove more than 90% of dust and foreign substance with easy installation and maintenance. Many public institutions, hospitals and industrial sites are currently using the mat. CEO Kim says "Wilmat is made of aluminum and can be used semi-permanent on regularly changing the expendables. We make it according to your needs and wants with Non-slip function pre-installed to prevent safety accident." It filters polluted substance from outside through three stages: dirt & alien substance, rough dust and fine dust. EPDM (eco-friendly material) and polypropylene were used for finishing materials as they have good wear resistance, durability, maintenance and flame proof. If it is installed with drainage trench, you can also prevent water coming into the building when flooding. 

Excellent Korean technology to pioneer the world
You can have the name of your business, brand or logo on the mat. As it is flush type, you can also place it alongside marbles and tiles on the floor to intact the interior you intended. Thanks to these fantastic functions, Wilmat is creating a sensation in the market. You can see the mat at Incheon and Jeju International Airports, SK Hynix, Severance Hospital Shinchon, National Assembly Member's Office Building, Seoul Family Court and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. CEO Kim says "The existing market has been dominated by imported mats. But it took a long time to have customized size and quality due to the distance." For this reason, and its fantastic functions, design and competitive price, Wilmat is being welcomed by many businesses in Korea. Currently the mat is almost dominating the market in Korea and some companies even design a new building by taking the use of the mat into account.

Meanwhile, Ecosys is working on developing new products. It released a patented luminous mat last year and is releasing a water proof, with exit sign, mat this year. Also an enhanced non-slip function will be applied to all new products so that they can minimize safety accidents. Kim says "We only focus on how to make a better mat and that's our sole interest. We pursue quality rather than profit as you can see we make semi-permanent products only." Meanwhile, Kim plans to supply to government constructions and to introduce an automatic system in order to expand the supply to India, Indonesia, Canada and Vietnam. Kim concluded "This year will bring a big change to Ecosys. And I want to provide a better welfare system for the staff so that we can together keep the No.1 status in Korea and start to pioneer overseas market."
