측량은 가장 오래 전부터 사용되어온 과학 기술 중 하나이다. 지표면의 위치를 결정하고 지도를 제작, 토지의 소유권을 확인할 목적에서 출발한 측량은 현대에 이르러서는 GPS나 위성영상, 3D 스캐닝 등 첨단기술이 도입되며 보다 넓은 의미에서의 공간정보를 얻기 위한 기술로 발전되어 왔다.

3D스캔측량으로 편의성·신속성·정확성 추구
알파측량기술단이 여타 측량업체와 차별화되는 가장 큰 특징은 3D 레이저 스캐닝 분야에 있어서 독보적인 기술력을 갖추고 있다는 점이다. 특히 알파측량기술단이 보유하고 있는 첨단 3D Laser Scanner 장비는 구조물의 안전진단과 형상 변위 측정, 철도 궤도 및 시설물의 건축한계 관리, 외관 이상 점검 등에 최적화되어 있으며, 가상현실 프로그램에 의한 설계 지원과 데이터의 디지털화 DB구축이 가능해 건설 현장에서의 정확하고 신속한 정보를 제공할 수 있다는 장점을 가진다. 송 대표는 “3D스캔측량은 기존의 측량방법과 비교해 훨씬 빠르고 안전하게 데이터를 확보할 수 있으며, 확보한 정보를 디지털 시각화함으로써 이후 연계될 작업에의 접근성과 편의성을 높일 수 있다. 또한 세세하고 정밀한 데이터를 취득할 수 있어 구조물의 유지관리에 효과적인 정보를 제공할 뿐만 아니라, 설계도면이 없는 오래된 구조물의 역설계 도면 작성도 가능하다”고 설명했다.

특히 송 대표는 “현재 운영되고 있는 철도시설물의 경우 대부분 준공된 지 30~40년가량 되어 매년 막대한 유지보수 비용이 소모되고 있지만, 정확한 측량없이 육안검사 수준에 머물러 있어 실효를 거두지 못하고 있다. 3D스캔측량 기술을 사용하면 지반침하 등의 위험성 여부와 터널 내부의 균열 파악, 궤도 및 건축한계 측정이 가능하고, 이를 토대로 취약점을 집중 관리할 수 있어 시간과 비용을 대폭 절감할 수 있다”고 밝혔다. 또한 이는 일반적인 건축구조물에도 적용되며, 이러한 데이터를 미리 확보해 놓음으로써 후대의 구조물 유지관리에 편의성을 더할 수 있다고 송 대표는 강조했다. 

알파측량기술단은 해외사업에 있어서도 다양한 활동을 하고 있는데, 베트남 호치민시 쓰레기매립장 사업을 시작으로 최근에는 한국가스공사가 주관하는 모잠비크 마푸토 도시가스건설공사 참여하였으며, 현재 코이카 캄보디아 바벨지역 홍수저감 및 관개개발사업 측량용역을 진행하고 있다. 이번 해외 사업은 큰 수익을 기대하기보다는 우수한 기술력을 필요로 하는 국가 지원 사업의 일환으로 우리의 기술을 통해 대한민국의 우수성을 알리겠다는 뜻이다. 

마지막으로 송 대표는 현재 국내 건설시장에서 측량기술자가 전문기술자로서의 정당한 대우를 받지 못하고 있는 현실에 안타까움을 표했다. 대한민국 건축기술이 다시금 세계시장으로 나아가게 될 기반을 만들기 위해 측량기술의 선진화와 인식개선에 앞장서고 있는 이들의 노력이 보다 나은 내일의 열매를 맺을 수 있기를 바란다.

Building foundation for quality and safety
Mensuration is a must technology for development of civilization. It is espcailly important in modern society where numerous buildings and houses are packed in one space. Alpha Survey was established in 2002 and has done numerous projects for the last 13 years relating to subway, high speed railway, expressway, sewage works, housing site, golf site and industrial complex. 3D scanning survey technique to realize convenience, promptness and preciseness 
Alpha Survey has a unique technology in the 3D scanning survey. Its 3D Laser Scanner is optimized for safety check, displacement measurement, construction limit management of building or railway orbit and check up on surface disfunction. It also supports design based on virtual reality programme and build digital DB to provide fast and precise information to on-site. CEO Song says “It secures survey methods and data faster and safer than the existing ones and changes the gained information to a digital visualization which can improve accessibility and convenience. It also gathers fine and precise data to give effective information for maintenance as well as create a plan for planless old buildings.”

Song continues “Most current railway structures in Korea are 30 to 40 years old and they cost a lot of maintenance fee. But the level of survey is at the mere eye inspection level. With 3D scanning survey technique, we can thoroughly carry out the current conditions of ground subsidence, crack on inside tunnel and measures on orbit & construction limit. Through this, we can effectively manage the time and cost. This technology can also be applied to general buildings and the data gathered can be useful for future reference.” Meanwhile, Song regretted the fact that the surveyors are not properly recognized as technical experts in Korea. Song says that open mindedness and advanced mensuration are much needed if Korea wants to go global in the field.
