대구창조경제혁신센터, 한국형 창조경제 대표모델로 우뚝!
미래창조과학부 최양희 장관은 지난 달 15일「대구창조경제혁신 센터(이하 대구센터) 확대출범 1주년 기념행사」를 개최했다. 대구센터(센터장 김선일) 확대 출범은 지역별 혁신센터와 대기업간 연계의 첫 번째 사례로서, 대구센터, 삼성, 대구시 3자간 상호 협력하에 대구지역의 벤처‧중소기업 지원, 창업펀드 조성, 벤처기업 투자, 창의인재 육성, 창조경제 공간 조성 등 창조경제생태계가 혁신센터를 중심으로 조기에 정착될 수 있도록 적극 추진하는 계기가 되었다.

대구혁신센터는 C-Lab 활성화와 우수아이디어의 상시적인 발굴을 위해 전국노래자랑 개념을 도입한 ‘씨스타(C-Star) 피칭(Pitching)’을 운영하고 있고 특정 지역창업기관 혹은 대학 출신만 참가하는 ‘씨스타(C-Star) 스페셜데이’도 개최할 예정이다. 또한 박근혜 대통령의 브라질 국빈방문 시 혁신센터 모델 공유, 스타트업 현지 진출 및 양국 스타트업간 교류·협력(인력교류, 공동프로젝트 추진 등) 지원을 위해 브라질 혁신기업협회(ANPROTEC)와 양해각서를 체결하였고, 프로텍 협회장 프란스리니 프로코피오 가르시아(Ms. Francilene Procopio Garicia)가 대구센터 1주년 기념식에 참석해, 양 기관의 글로벌 협력관계 증진을 위한 노력을 한층 강화하였다. 대구센터는 확대출범 후 혁신적 창업생태계의 최전방에 서서 선도적 자세로 노력해왔고, 기대 이상의 성과를 가져온 것에 대해 정부와 지자체 및 유관기관, 전담기업이 모두가 합심하여 노력한 결실이라고 전했다. 대구센터는 고용존을 통해 지역의 고용센터 및 대학창조일자리센터와 유기적으로 연계하여 질적으로 향상된 고용서비스를 제공할 계획이다. 

미래창조과학부 제61회 전국과학전람회 시상식 개최
미래창조과학부 최양희 장관은 제61회 전국과학전람회 시상식을 지난 달 16일 국립중앙과학관 사이언스홀에서 개최하였다. ｢전국과학전람회｣는 과학인구의 저변 확대와 전국민 과학화를 위해 1949년 최초로 개최하여 올해 61주년을 맞이하였다. 영예의 대통령상은 ｢자전거림을 활용한 한국 종의 맥놀이 연구｣를 출품한 경기 풍덕고등학교 3학년 김대현 학생과 ｢유기물 분리·정화 장치 개발 및 적용을 통한 육상수조식양식의 Zero Emission 구현｣을 출품한 전남 완도신지중학교 이기식 교감이 수상하였고, 국무총리상은 ｢헤론의 분수를 적용한 화학전지에 대한 탐구｣를 출품한 대구과학고등학교 2학년 곽지민·박예진·유원준 학생과 ｢마이크로 스케일(Micro Scale) 화학 실험 장치 개발 및 적용｣을 출품한 세종 두루고등학교 오인환 교사가 수상하였다.

또한, 최우수상 이상의 수상자에게는 해외 과학문화탐방의 기회가, 특상 이상 수상자 중, 중학교 2학년부터 고등학교 3학년 학생에게는 국제과학기술경진대회(ISEF : International Science & Engineering Fair) 한국대표 선발전 참가 자격이 주어진다. 이번 시상식에 앞서 전시현장에서는 ｢수상자와 멘토의 만남｣행사가 진행되어 우수 수상자들과 관련 분야 연구자, 기술사업화 전문가들이 출품작의 향후 발전방향에 대해 논의하는 뜻 깊은 시간도 가졌다. 멘토링 과정을 참관한 한 관람객은 “멘토와의 만남을 통해 실생활 속 아이디어가 연구과제로 확장되고 사업화 될 수 있는 아이템으로 발굴되는 과정을 볼 수 있어 의미가 있었다.“며 소감을 밝혔다. 최양희 장관은 “오늘 수상자들이 앞으로 창조경제의 핵심 인재로 활약해 주길 기대한다.”고 언급하며, “우수 수상작품에 대해서는 특허출원 지원뿐만 아니라 창조경제혁신센터 및 출연연 창업공작소와 연계하여 사업화 활동 또한 적극 지원하겠다.”고 밝혔다. 

Daegu Creative Economy Innovation Center stands as a role model for Korea’s creative economy
The Minister of Science, ICT and Future Planning Yanghee Choi held the first anniversary celebration of Daegu Creative Economy Innovation Center on 15 last month. The center (head Sunil Kim) with Samsung and Daegu City have actively supported regional venture enterprises and SMEs, raised startup fund, invested in venture enterprises, fostered talented people, and created spaces for creative economy. The center is running ‘C-Start’, ‘Pitching’ (similar like karaoke) and ‘C-Star Special Day’ (for startup and universities only) in order to activate C-Lab and excellent ideas. The center also signed a MOU with ANPROTEC (Brazil) to promote the model of Korean creative economy and the exchanges on the occasion of President Park’s visit to Brazil. Ms. Francilene Procopio Garicia, chairman of ANPROTEC, in response, participated in the first anniversary celebration in Daegu to further enhance the global cooperative relationship between the two countries. Meanwhile, Daegu Creative Economy Innovation Center is highly praised for overachievements through close cooperation with related organizations. The center is planning to introduce Employment Zone to provide efficient job seeking and matching services for the residents and the public. 

Choi holds The 61th National Science Exhibition Award
The Minister of Science, ICT and Future Planning Yanghee Choi held The 61th National Science Exhibition Award on 16 last month at the National Science Museum. The exhibition started in 1949 and this year marks the 61 anniversary. The Presidential Prize went to a third grade high school student Daehyeon Kim of Punkduck High School for his work ‘Research on Korean Paper Beating by Using Bicycle Rims’ and Vice Principal Kisik Lee of Wando Sinji Middle School for ‘Development & Application of Organic Matter Separation & Purification to Realizing Aquarium Basin Type Zero Emission’. The Prime Minister’s Prize went to second grade students Jimin Kwak, Yejin Park and Wonjun Yoo of Daegu Science High School for ‘Research on Chemical Cell by Applying Heron’s Fountain’ and a teacher Inhwan Oh of Duru High School for ‘Development and Application of Micro Scale Chemical Experimental Apparatus’.

For those who won top prizes are eligible to have an overseas science & culture tour, and special prizes of those between second grade of middle school and third grad of high school to participate in ISEF (International Science & Engineering Fair). The award included the ‘Meeting of Mentors’ with which industry officials and specialists gave a valuable advice to students. A participant in the meeting said “I understood the process of an idea being turned into an actual product thanks to the meeting.” Minister Choi said “I hope the winners will play a central role for Korea’s creative economy. We will give unsparing efforts for the winders in terms of patent and commercialization.”
