Highly praised dessinastress famous with 3D neo-cubism expressionism
Solo exhibition to show new approach to body expression and its meaning
Miky Han, a Korean artist in France

Highly praised drawing and cubism artist in the French art world
Artist Miky Han earned the best grade in the painting category at Salon D'Automne in 2008 and won numerous prizes including the gold prize at Grand Palais Le Salon. She became the first Korean judge of SAF (Société des Artistes Français) in December in 2014. Her talent was already recognized when she took a brush at the age of three, went to France at the age of 43 and specialized in drawing and cubism through realism and impressionism. It was an adventure for her to move to a foreign land to learn and experience new styles. But Han remembers those times as the moments of happy and bold challenge as she visited many of French galleries and museums with pure passion. Like a well trained singer adapts to a new genre and a child finds a great pleasure in rebuilding cubes, Han absorbed the new environment and created her own art world in drawing and neo-cubism based on the Middle East’s arabesque patterns and Paris’ neo-cubism.

The French art world was shocked by her new style and praised her by saying ‘a genius artist was born from the land of the morning calm’. Han livened up 2 dimensional drawings with 3 dimensional movements; the works which also have played a significant role to connect the art worlds between the two countries dynamically for the last 24 years.

Love for humanity and national identity expressed through art works
The art book of Han’s paintings received an honor to be preserved for ever from Société des Artistes Français in 2007. She changed her subject to humanity from nature to analyse and recreate human body which contains full of beauty and glory. This is closely related to Han’s ardent Christianity. She saw French masterpieces, prayed in the Cathedral of Notre Dame, encountered with spiritual beings and had a moment of enlightenment. Han said “The essence is the same regardless styles and techniques. Modern art just contains elements of science, geometry and architectural beauty based on classical art.” On top of that, Han applied 3D imaging technology. If oriental paintings find beauty of space in black and white, Han reads android-like humanity between them. It is interesting to see the progress of humanity in Han’s works when considering 3D technology is slowly taken over by 4D. Her flowers and nudes are opening a new era of cubism through pieces and reconstruction rather than colors and lines. And she added Good Samaritanism to get closer with her fellow human beings. For this reason, characters in Han’s works are not lonely. This of her sentiment toward her works actually came from her identity as a Korean which she firmly attached to. Whenever people ask “Where are you from?” she proudly answered “I’m from South Korea.”

Solo exhibition to be held at Hangaram Art Museum in October
Han still prefers to work alone especially before the dawn without disturbance from the outer world. She expresses her troubled emotions as well as her identity as a Korean on the canvas. Han said that her title as a global artist was only possible thanks to her identity and she was really proud of being Korean. Han said “Korea from outside world was seen as the divided country with lots of individual success stories. As an artist, I just planted a tree, raised it, cut it and dried it well so that it can eternally burn whoever set a fire on it. I want to create a foundation that can push up the evolution of our art.” Since the successful invitation exhibition in Korea in 2007, Han held a special invitation exhibition coordinated with Community Chest of Korea which created a fund to help people in need in 2009. Thanks to her social contribution, she received the 1st Happiness Sharer Award, held by the Ministry of Health & Welfare, in 2011. Meanwhile, Han is scheduled to hold a solo exhibition from 10th to 17th October in Hangaram Art Museum at Seoul Arts Center. Han will display from coloring cubes to 3D achromatic color and nude model sketches that express various movements of human body. In addition, charcoal drawings that contain religion, science and philosophy are highly expected by prospective audiences to see. Han leaves a message that she want to create art works for all to share and communicate rather than personal interest and profits.
