내면의 아픔 끌어내 치유하는 최면 심리치료 전문 인력 양성

현대인들이 갈수록 우울증이나 불안감에 시달리며 자신의 무의식 속에 저장된 어두운 면을 그대로 가지고 살아가는 사람들이 많아지고 있다. 표면상으로 잘 드러나지 않지만, 현대인들이 앓는 이 같은 정신과 내면의 문제는 갈수록 사회적인 문제로 떠오르고 더욱 관심 가져야 하는 시대이다. 그래서 나온 것이 인간의 내면세계를 비추는 심리치유 요법의 등장인데 이에 대한 상담도 이제는 점점 늘어가는 추세다. 지금은 그 범위도 넓어지고 전문가의 치유 연구도 확대되어 가고 있다. 대표적인 사례인 한국로드랜드아카데미를 찾아 송강면 원장의 얘기를 들어보았다. 

국내 최면치료의 선봉“한국로드랜드아카데미”
전국 7개 사무실 통해 다양한 상담 프로그램 운영.
최면 상태는 수면과 각성의 중간 상태로 피 암시성이 현저히 양진되어 평소와는 다른 의식성을 가지며 의식․운동․지각․기억․사고․상상․감정 등 여러 심리적 활동이 일상에서와는 전혀 다른 패턴으로 발휘된다. 학습부진 학생의 능률 향상 등 인간의 잠재능력을 개발하고 발휘하는 데 여러 긍정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 알려져 있으며, 이 과정을 통한 심리치료의 가능성 역시 광범위 하게 열려 있다. 일각에서는 최면을 통한 여러 가지 치료와 건강법 등이 개발되어 많은 환자와 내담자 등에게 좋은 효과를 주는 것으로 알려진다. 특히 최면은 내면세계를 들여다보는 것 외에도 의료와 교육, 스포츠와 범죄수사까지 영향을 미치는 등 전문 분야로 인정받는 시대로 접어들었다. 하지만 국내는 선진국의 많은 관심과 연구와 달리 아직도 미흡한 부분들이 많다. 아직까지 이렇다 할 연구원이 없지만 가장 대표적으로 연구하고 상담하는 곳으로 한국로드랜드아카데미(송강면 원장)를 꼽을 수 있겠다. 

송강면 원장은 한국로드랜드아카데미를 통해 아동․청소년 및 성인 프로그램으로 자기개발 프로그램, 운동선수 및 예능능력 향상 프로그램, 행동조절 프로그램, 대인관계 개선 프로그램, 식습관 개선 프로그램, 부부문제 프로그램 등 다양한 상담 프로그램을 운영하고 있다. 이곳은 현재 일산과 여의도, 분당, 부산, 광주, 전주 등 전국에 7개 사무실을 두고 다양한 상담 프로그램을 운영하고 있다. 송 원장은 이에 대해 “각 프로그램은 1시간 30분 전후로 진행되며 상담의 특성 상 처음 방문할 때는 2시간 정도를 들여 내담자와 상담자의 친밀감을 높이는 과정이 필요하다.” 고 설명했다. 이와 함께 송 원장은 “요즘은 전에 비해 상담의 진로를 원하시는 분들이 많이 찾아오신다. 기본적으로 상담 관련 전공자가 하시는 것이 좋지만 아닌 분들도 많기 때문에 우리 아카데미에서는 최소 2년간 주 2회 전문가 교육을 통해 전문 상담 인력을 양성하며, 임상 훈련도 5년 정도가 소요된다. 또한 이러한 과정을 통해 사무소를 개설하시는 분들에게는 아카데미 본부 차원에서 개인이 부담하기 힘든 홍보 등도 적극적으로 돕고 있다”고 밝혔다.

“내면에 있는 것을 치유하는 것이 최면 치료의 강점” 
많은 사례 들며 무엇보다 ‘상담 치유’ 의 중요성 강조. 
현대인이 살면서 받는 상처나 고통을 통계로 되짚어 보면 먼 곳의 사람보다는 의외로 가까운 지인이나 가족으로부터 받는 예들이 아주 많은 것으로 나타난다. 송 원장의 심리치유에서 성공한 본보기에는 이런 사례가 있다고 한다. 한번은 18년차 부부가 상담을 온 적이 있는데, 남편이 대기업 임원으로 일종의 정략결혼을 한 집안이었다. 남편이 사랑하는 여자와 헤어지고 내키지 않는 결혼을 한 셈인데 남편이 그 여자와 연락하는 것을 2~3년 주기로 들키는 바람에 아내는 정신 분열 초기가 올 정도로 스트레스를 받았고 하루에 15시간 이상 남편을 괴롭혔다고 한다. 보통 이런 경우라면 이혼 절차를 밟는 것이 정석이지만 아내의 어머니가 일찍 남편을 여의고 그녀에게 어렸을 때부터 ‘남편은 있어야 한다’ 고 주입한 결과 쉽게 이혼을 할 수 없는 상황이었다고. 

송 원장은 이 같은 사례를 들며 “부부 간의 문제는 한 사람의 문제 뿐 아니라 유추하면 과거부터 주변 사람에 이르기까지 연결 된다” 고 말하며 “감정에는 시공이 없다. 내면에 있는 것을 말해 주면서 치유를 하는 것이 바로 최면 심리 치료의 최대 장점이다” 고 설명했다. 그러면서 송 원장은 “사람은 누구나 심리적인 상처를 갖고 있다. 미주나 유럽 등에서는 병원에 먼저 가기 전에 심리 상담을 먼저 거치고 심리적인 원인이 있는지를 파악한 후에 2차적으로 본인이 말하는 병에 대한 치료 절차를 밟도록 되어 있다” 며 무엇보다 상담 치유가 중요함을 거듭 강조했다. 국내는 외국에 비해 최면 심리 상담 인식이 낮은 편이지만 송 원장은 이에 그치지 않고 그동안 많은 성공 사례를 만들며 꾸준히 최면 심리상담, 쏘울최면심리연구원을 통해 심리적으로 고통 받는 이들에게 도움을 주는 등 삶의 의지를 북돋아 가고 있다.

한국로드랜드아카데미는 어떤 곳인가? 이곳은 미국 캘리포니아 주정부 및 교육국(BPPVE)으로부터 정식 승인(School Code: 88680429, Stage of California: 3040862)을 받고 미국 로드랜드대학교(Lordland University)와 로드랜드 내셔널 최면대학교(Lordland National University)와 학술교류 협정을 맺어 다양한 교육 수련 과정을 제공하는 곳이다.  

미국 로드랜드대학교는 2005년 교육국 승인 이후 16회의 졸업식을 통해 1,500여명의 졸업생을 배출한 미국의 대표적인 종교 대학교로 요즘 한창 뜨는 대학교로 이름 올리고 있다.  ‘로드랜드대학교’ 는 인간이 가진 잠재능력을 개발하기 위해 최고의 교육을 지향하며 인간의 삶의 기준인 성경을 통한 바른 가치관 형성에 목표를 두고, 영성개발 및 사역자 훈련을 통해 세계적 인물을 양성하고자 하는 것이 설립취지이다. 또한 과학적으로 증명하여 심인성 질병을 치료하는 치유사역을 중심으로 하여 인문적 소양과 미덕을 쌓아 건전한 문화를 창출하고 시대를 선도하는 창의적 전문인을 양성하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 로드랜드대학교는 신학대학(신학, 목회학), 사회과학대학(종교학, 종교철학, 사회복지학), 인문대학(문예창작), 경영대학(기독교경영학), 교육대학(교육학, 어린이교육학), 상담대학(상담학, 가정상담), 대체의과대학(요가학, 치유학), 선교대학(선교학, 의료선교학, 스포츠선교학), 예술대학(예술학, 교회음악) 등 18개의 학․석․박사 학위과정 및 300여개의 각종 자격증 과정을 운영하는 중이다.

또한 한국로드랜드아카데미는 최면의 세계적 권위와 명성을 자랑하는 미국 최면사고시위원회(ACHE)와 미국 상담치료학회(AACPT)로부터 발급되는 국제공인 자격증을 취득할 수 있는 국제공인 자격증 과정을 운영하고 있으며, 미국 장로교 및 대한예수교특수선교총회와 교류협정을 맺고 목사 안수 및 해외선교 활동을 희망하는 원생들에게 지원을 아끼지 않는다. 특히 이 대학교는 이사장 정가진 박사 및 총장 이강일 박사와 40여명의 교수진들이 글로벌 역량을 가진 인재를 양성하고 그 인재를 세계적인 인물로 육성하기 위하여 최상의 교육훈련과 환경을 제공하기 위하여 노력하고 있다. 이와 더불어 연방이민국(ICE)로부터 SEVIS I-20을 발행할 수 있도록 승인 받아 명실공히 세계적인 대학교로 비전을 갖고 도약적으로 성장하는 대학교로서 발돋움 해가는 중이다. 이런 가운데 최근에 한국로드랜드아카데미는 퍼시픽 법과대학(International Pacific School of Law)과 학술협정을 맺고 미국 변호사 시험에 응시할 수 있는 법학박사(J.D) 과정, 법무사 과정(LDA, Paralegal), 명예박사 과정(H.J.D), 글로벌 법무지도자 과정(Global Legal Leadership), MBA 최고경영자 과정 등을 배울 수 있으며, 인터넷을 통한 교육도 가능하게 했다. 심리상담과 법률이라면 의아하게 생각할지 모르지만 상담하다 보면 법률 상담이 필요한 경우가 생기는 데, 기본적인 지식 외에 넓은 시각의 학문 습득이 필요해서이다.

상담전문가로서는 최고급 과정과 같다. 따라서 이같은 학문을 습득하면 한층 업그레이드된 지식과 경험을 쌓고 불필요하게 소요되는 시간과 비용 등을 줄일 수 있는 큰 장점을 갖게 되는 것이다.

한국로드랜드아카데미를 이끌어 가는 송강면 원장은 40여년 목회생활을 하고 심리상담 과정에 몸담은 지 20년 경력의 베테랑 심리치유상담가다. 그는 처음에 “왜 사람들이 변화되지 않을까?” 에 대한 의문을 가지며 최면과 영성을 매치시켜 최면을 깊이 있게 연구하며 상담가로서의 길을 걷기 시작했다고 한다. 그는 심리치유 의뢰자들의 상담을 해가면서 미국 로드랜드내셔널대학교에서 상담학 박사를 취득하고 미국 로드랜드대학교에서 상담학 교수로 활동했으며, 국제공인 최면전문가, 국제공인 임상 최면치유사, 국제공인 의학 최면치유사, 상담심리 치료전문가 등의 자격을 취득한 국내 대표 최면 심리 전문가로 이름 올리고 있다. 

송 원장은 “사람답게 살자” 는 생활철학을 내 세운다. 목사 출신으로서 많은 이들과 상담을 이어가면서 깨닫는 의미와 중요성을 많이 알게 되었기 때문이다. 그는 “상처를 이겨낼 힘이 없는 사람들은 결국 자신이 완성되어 있지 않기 때문에 상처를 이겨낼 수 없는 것이다” 면서 “성장이라는 것은 어릴 때부터 하나의 인격이 서서히 완성되어가는 과정이다. 누구든 하나의 인간으로서 존재감을 가져야 한다” 고 덧붙여 말했다. 사람들은 일생동안 타인으로부터 한번이라도 상처를 안 받아 본 사람은 없을 것이다. 정도의 차이가 있어 스스로 극복하는 사람도 있겠지만, 한 켠에선 누구에게도 밝힐 수 없는 고통으로 힘겨운 자신과 싸움을 하는 이들도 많을 것이다. 상처 없는 사람은 없듯이, 이런 때에 누구에게나 어둠 속에서 빛을 밝혀줄 수 있는 존재가 꼭 필요하다. 최면심리 상담을 통해 많은 이들에게 빛을 비춰주는 송강면 원장. 그는 고차원의 심리치유 전문가로서 그동안 다양한 경험과 임상시험을 통해 암울한 내면세계에 갇혀 지내던 많은 이들에게 긍정적인 생각을 갖도록 해주고 마음을 밝게 열어줬다. 우리가 살아가는 이 공간들이 더욱 행복해 지기 위해서 그와 같은 전문가들이 많이 배출되어야 할 이유가 바로 여기에 있다.

Hypnosis is a state somewhere between sleep and vigilance. It significantly increases suggestibility and various psychological activities are appeared differently in a hypnotic state. It is known to help underachieved students increase their potential and learning efficiency and it also has a limitless possibility in the area of psychotherapy. Numerous related treatments and therapies have been introduced and they received positive feedbacks from both patients and their relatives. Many people regard hypnosis as a tool to look into one’s inner world but it is being widely used for medical treatments, education, sports and criminal minds. Despite its intensive and expanded R&D in the advanced countries, Korea still lacks in many parts.

The good news is that director Kangmyeon Song of K-Lordland Academy is taking the initiative in leading hypnotic psychotherapy in Korea. Song is running various programs to improve self-development, physical capability, artistic talent, behavior management, personal relations, bad eating habits and marital problems. Director Song currently has 7 branches nationwide including one in Ilsan, Yeouido, Bundang, Busan, Gwangju and Jeonju. He said “Each program lasts 1 and a half hours but first visit might take up to 2 hours for building intimacy between the consultant and the consulted. Nowadays, we have a lot of inquires about psychotherapist courses. The courses usually provide 2 special lessons per week for 2 years and the subsequent clinical training normally takes about 5 years. For the trainees who want to open their own clinic or academy after the course, we are actively giving a support in terms of marketing.” 

“Psychotherapy is to cure one’s inner self”

According to a research, modern people are more hurt by their nearest and dearest such as friends and family members. Director Song took an example of his case: He met a couple who had been married for 18 years. The husband was an executive at a major company and had a woman he loved. But he had to do a marriage of convenience. The problem was he kept meeting his lover and the wife went crazy and harassed her husband on a daily basis. The wife wanted a divorce but her mother did not allow it as she herself lost her husband early in her marriage. Director Song said “Marital problem often involve people around them. Everyone involved in the matter has his/her own psychological scar during the course of marriage and this is the point where a psychotherapy has to be brought into to solve the problem.

In the advanced countries, people usually take a counselling to see whether they have psychological conditions before actually go to the hospital. Although the people’s recognition about hypnotic psychotherapy is still weak in Korea, director Song is exerting his effort in spreading successful cases through his soul hypnotic psychology institute called ‘Soul Hypnosis’. 

Introducing Lordland University (US) degree courses and internationally recognize certification courses

K-Lordland Academy is approved (School Code: 88680429, Stage of California: 3040862) by BPPVE. It signed an academic agreement with Lordland University and Lordland National University to provide various training. Lordland University is one of the representative religious universities in the US which has fostered 1,500 graduates so far since 2005. The university pursues excellent education that can find and develop human potential, imbue a right sense of values based on the Bible and fosters global leaders through spiritual training. It also provides scientific treatment methods for psychogenic diseases and contributes to creating a sound culture in the society. The university currently is running 300 certification courses and  18 degree and PhD courses in College of Theology (theology, pastoral theology), College of Social Sciences (science of religion, philosophy of religion, social welfare studies), College of Liberal Arts (creative writing), College of Administration (Christian business administration), College of Education (pedagogy, children's education), College of Counseling (counseling studies, family counseling), Alternative Medical School (yoga studies, healing studies), College of Missionary (missionary studies, medical missionary studies, sports missionary studies) and College of Arts (science of arts, church music). The international certifications of the university are accredited from ACHE　(American Council of Hypnotist Examiners) and AACPT (American Association of Counseling & Psychotherapy). The university also signed an exchange agreement with U.S. Presbyterian Church and the General Assembly of Presbyterian Church in Korea to support the students who wish to do missionary activities. Under the leadership of President Kangil Lee and Director Kajin Jeong, the university is fostering globally talented students through excellent curriculum and training. Director Kangmyeon Song of K-Lordland Academy served as a pastor for 40 years and has worked as one of top psychotherapists for 20 years. He threw a question to himself "Why people don't change?" and tried to find an answer by combining hypnosis and spirituality. He started to give counseling for those who wish to have psychological treatment, subsequently obtained a PhD at Lordland National University, worked as a counseling studies professor at the same university and obtained various certifications for international hypnotist, international clinical hypnotic therapist, international medical hypnotic therapist and counseling psychologist. 

When he worked as a pastor and counselor, Song realized the meaning and value of sharing love with people and he eventually set up his motto as 'Live for humanity'. He said "We cannot easily overcome our wound because we are not perfect. We need to bear in mind that growing is a process of building one's personality and for this reason we should love and value ourselves." Everybody gets hurt one way or the other. Some of us are able to find a cure and some are not but only suffer. This is the point where we need someone who can help the latter case and director Song of K-Lordland Academy is a one great example who is ardently reaching out his helping hand to the people who are in psychological need. As one of top hypnotic psychotherapists in the world, director Song has given a light to many of those who suffered from psychological wound and he and his K-Lordland Academy will do its utmost effort in spreading good will of God and the art of hypnotic psychotherapy to the world.
