중소기업에 최적화된 현장·전공 융합교육

지난 2013년 박근혜 정부는 국정과제로 ‘지방대학 지원확대’를 선정했다. 이에 따라 지난해 교육부에서는 ‘지방대학 특성화(CK-1) 사업’ 시행계획을 발표하며 창의 인재양성과 지역의 창조경제를 견인할 지방대학을 육성하고, 이를 통해 새로운 부가가치와, 일자리 창출 등 지역 경제의 성장 동력원을 발굴해내겠다고 밝혔다. 이후 각 대학에서는 지역 산업의 특성에 맞춘 특성화학과를 신설하거나 개편하고, 교육과정을 재편하는 등 대학의 체질 개선에 집중해왔다.

글로벌 비즈니스 분야의 전문 자질 함양
창원대학교에서는 정부의 지방대학 특성화 사업에 따라 지역사회와 연계된 특성화 방안을 논의하는 한편, 장기적 관점에서의 내실 강화를 도모하기 위해 대학구조개혁과 특성화 기반을 구축해왔다. 그 가운데서도 창원대학교 SME G-Biz 인력양성사업단(이하 사업단)은 NCS 기반 글로벌 비즈니스의 실용능력을 함양하고, 전공능력강화를 통한 전공능력 구비와 중소기업 글로벌 비즈니스 교육·취업 인프라 구축을 통해 지역의 현장형 글로벌 비즈니스 인력을 육성하는 데에 심혈을 기울여왔다.

기존 경제학, 금융보험학, 국제무역학으로 세분화되어 있던 학과를 통합하여 2015년 글로벌비즈니스학부로 개편한 사업단은 이를 통해 현장업무능력을 갖춘 융합형 비즈니스 인력을 육성하고 있다. 이를 위해 사업단에서는 모든 재학생들이 하나의 필수트랙을 선택, 이수하게 하여 분야별 전문가로서의 자질을 갖출 수 있도록 하고 있으며, 다양한 업무를 수행해야 하는 중소기업 특성에 맞춰 컴퓨터 능력, 외국어 커뮤니케이션 능력, 현지화에 필요한 문화이해도 증진, 비즈니스 업무처리능력을 구비해 멀티플레이어로서의 역할이 가능하도록 교육과정을 운영하고 있다.

실용형, 전문형, 소통형 인재 양성
지역산업과의 연계가 중요시되는 특성상 사업단은 수출기업, 수출준비기업, 해외진출기업 등 경남과 창원에 소재한 100여개 업체로 구성된 G-Biz 후원기원협의회를 갖추고 있다. 또한 SME 글로벌 비즈니스 센터 운영사업을 실시하며, 사업단의 사업이 종료된 이후에도 중소기업 글로벌 비즈니스 인력양성이 지속적으로 추진될 수 있도록 정보의 축적, 교육 콘텐츠의 유지보수, 네트워크 운영 등의 업무를 집중적으로 관리하는 체계를 구축했다. 이는 중소기업이 필요로 하는 맞춤형 인재의 원활한 보급뿐만 아니라, 학생들에게도 자신의 특성과 특기를 살릴 수 있는 안정적인 일자리 창출의 기회를 제공한다는 데서 높게 평가되고 있다. 

사업단을 이끌고 있는 정정현 단장은 “그동안 매년 수많은 고급인력이 배출되어 왔으나 현장에서 요구되는 수준에 미치지 못해 상호간 인력 빈곤에 빠지게 되는 문제점이 지적되어 왔습니다. 사업단에서는 기초공통, 어학, 현지화 과정과 전공트랙을 병행하여 전문가 양성 중심의 교육시스템을 구축하고, 글로벌 비즈니스에 최척화 된 전문인력을 양성하기 위해 노력하고 있습니다”라고 밝혔다. 

현장 중심의 실용형 학습과, 전문가적 자질을 함양시키는 심화교육, 인턴쉽 프로그램 등을 통한 중소기업 맞춤형 교육을 바탕으로 중소기업 글로벌 비즈니스 전문인력 양성의 메카로 거듭나고 있는 창원대학교 SME G-Biz 인력양성사업단. 지역 경제의 활성화를 이끌고 나아가 국가의 균형발전을 도모하게 될 인재를 양성하고 있는 이들의 앞으로의 행보를 기대해 보자.

Raising capabilities in global business 
In accordance with government's local university specialization project, Changwon University has been discussing about its related measures and their structural reform. SME G-Biz Human Resource Group at Changwon National University in particular has focused on NCS-based global business capabilities, student's abilities and job creation to promote globally talented students. 

The group integrated three Departments of 'Economics', 'Finance & Insurance', and 'International Trade' into 'Department of Global Business' this year in the hope of fostering practical and convergent business specialists. Alongside their one major subject, students are provided with all the other necessary training in computer, foreign language, international culture and management capabilities, customized to SMEs, which are needed to be a global multi-player. 

Fostering practical, professional and communicative students
As the connection with regional industry is very important, the group is backed up by G-Biz Support Association consisted of 100 local export enterprises in Gyeongnam and Changwon. The group also launched SME Global Business Center so that they can keep carrying on their programs in case the government project gets no longer valid. They built a system that can intensively manage accumulation of information, maintenance of curriculum and business network in the center. Their goal is to supply human resource customized to SMEs and to provide opportunities for students to secure a stable job. 

Jeong says "we thought we have fostered many talented students but the industry was not happy with their capabilities in the field. As a result, there has been an unbalance between demand and supply in the job market. So we analysed the problems in detail and introduced an integrated department and industry-based curriculum so that we can foster students customized not only to the industry but also to global business."

In this respect, it is not much to say that SME G-Biz Human Resource Group at Changwon National University is a mecca of fostering globally talented students over Gyeongnam and Korea.
