SMEs' overseas marketing getting easier with entertainment and SNS
KOTRA, holding 'Labor-management High Five Day'

KOTRA, introducing Korean Star Marketing Platform and 1:1 consulting for SMEs
It has now become possible for SMEs to enter overseas market with entertainment and SNS. KOTRA (president Jaehong Kim) held 'Korean Star-SMEs Convergence Overseas Marketing Consulting' on 31 last month at the office building. Introduced in the event were Korean Star Marketing Platform and SMEs 1:1 consulting. The platform includes promoting 'convergence of stars and products (development and commercialization)', 'indirect advertisement on air', 'pictorials of stars', 'performance' and 'online distribution network'. 80 consultations were carried out by 7 marketing platform enterprises and 70 domestic companies and detailed discussion and advice relating to commercialization of the cultural products and contents were carried out. The briefing session introduced various methods of overseas marketing strategy by using entertainment and online distribution network. Producer Yunghwan No who produced SBS Running Man which gained explosive popularity in China and Southeast Asia explained how indirect advertisement is done from planning to implementation and the ways for SMEs to be involved in the business.

Korea's largest social commerce enterprise Ticket Monster introduced converged marketing method to be distributed online based on the idea that the Korean stars' daily costumes have advertising effect. According to KOTRA, many SMEs were not able to use Korean stars to export their contents due to the stars expensive body but they are looking to pioneer the market through online and SNS through as joint production with stars from the planning stage, indirect advertisement on show programmes and dramas, exposing star's daily wear and SNS viral marketing.

Gentle Monster, for example, made US$20 million sales with the sunglasses wore by Jihyeon Jun in the SBS drama 'You Who Came From A Star' in early 2014. This is a remarkable result compared to their first year sales of $100,000 in 2011. The event was participated by numerous SMEs relating to fashion, beauty and smart contents. An official of Neo Information System (driving-licence total marking system firm) said "we didn't consider to use Korean stars to boost up our sales but we are considering now as the popularity of them are increasing." The Head of Strategy Department of KOTRA Sungsu Kim said "we will do our best in providing the marketing methods of promoting their cultural products and distribution network so that our SMEs can enter overseas market successfully."

KOTRA, holding 'Labor-management High Five Day'
KOTRA held an event called 'Labor-management High Five Day' in the morning for their staff. KOTRA CEO Jaehong Kim and the Union Head wore apron to serve coffee and cookies. The event was organized by both Kim and the Union Head to encourage their staff and to build harmonious work place. Their change of rigid monthly meeting to comfortable talk concert is in the same purpose. The board members wore high five gloves to clap the hands together with their staff's and both parties shared laugh and positive energies that morning. Kim said "providing excellent customer services at the end of the day can start from our communication and considering each other. Therefore, we will keep promoting various programmes to create good work place."
