[Interview] Park Jae-kil and Kim Mi-jeong, CEOs of Yonggung Sundae
Delighting people's appetite with authentic Yecheon Yonggung Sundae
Delivering social services

Spicy and gooey Yonggung Sundae made of pork entrails
Yonggung-myeon became famous thanks to the grandma Kim Dae-sun who developed Yonggung Sundae (Assorted Korean Sausage) in the town. Kim started selling Sundae Rice Soup at Yonggung market and attracted many customers with abundant Sundae in the soup. To succeed and spread the Sundae after Kim passed away, the brothers including Park opened restaurants in various places. As a result, Yonggung Sundae became very famous and there is even a festival on that name. The best feature of the Sundae is that it is made of pork entrails which is much thicker than the large intestine. Not only the size is big but its spicy and gooey taste also leaves a clean finish. Daegu and Kyungpook is famous for pork entrails but Yonggung Sundae cleans the entrails with Soju, salt and flour several times to remove its characteristic smell. The thickness and length of the Sundae is various because they do not use mass produced ingredients but make them by using their hands. Therefore, the quality and taste are fantastic though it is not so presentable. Also, the broth for Sundae Rice Soup is made of pork bones and briquette Grilled Squid is a special menu you can enjoy there.

Delivering social services
Park has been carrying out social services for a long time to return the love he received from the customers to society. Park provides free Sundae Rice Soup and lunch box for elderly people, donates money to a disabled facility called Yecheon Love Village and supports scholarships for elementary students in the region. Park says "I believe that my success is our success because I cannot achieve anything without the help of people around me. It is particularly important to work together with the community as Yecheon is not a big city. That's why I want to return part of the profits to society." He continued "many people propose to do business together but I think keeping its authentic taste is much more important than to expand the business."

Reducing food waste to protect the environment of the Earth
Park never reuses the food and throw away the leftovers in one place. According to Park, the amount of food we leave is more than our imagination.
Park says "Korean people tend to serve a variety of side dishes which in a way is really kind but it produces a lot of food waste on the other hand. In that terms, the government level campaign is needed to solve that problem. Meanwhile, we do not serve many side dishes but willingly give more when customers ask. I think this can be an effective way to reduce food waste."
