Kim raised his fishing rod production company NS as the No.1 in Korea. He used to work as an air-conditioner design engineer for a long time. As fishing was his hobby, he grew up his interest in fishing rod as one of his partner companies made fishing rods and this eventually led him to acquire the related production technology and he decided to make Korea's best fishing rods. 

He established NS in Ganseok-dong, Incheon in 1988 at the age of 34 and started to release his brand of lure fishing rod. Although Kim suffered from financial difficulty when he first started his business, he soon was recognized from fishing manias and the rods now take up 80% of the domestic lure fishing rod market. NS became another term for lure fishing rods among anglers as it provides customized fishing rod with excellent quality.

The korea's fishing rod companies mainly produced pole and line fishing rod in the time when Kim was developing lure fishing rods which was normal in Japan. Kim saw a possibility of the rod in the domestic market and launched a company called Black hole. Many showed negativity to Kim's idea but with his know-how and technology he succeeded commercializing it by holding various fishing competition and advertisement. He put a 12 page ad on fishing related magazines for many times and even made a fishing program with a professional agency to be sent to TV channels to provide related fishing knowledge and technology for everybody. Kim saw the importance of commercials and he actually poured $120,000 out of $170,000 sales profits of 1999 in advertisement. In addition, Kim was the first person who offered a cash prize in fishing competitions. He is now using SNS such as YouTube to attack the global market and 15 countries are currently using NS lure fishing rod as a result. 

Kim's 70 staff in Korea and 300 employees in a factory in China are working really hard to produce world's best fishing rods through R&D and tests. Kim added that he will built a system in which everybody can enjoy fishing with excitement rather than the traditional conception of fishing which anglers are required to be quiet.
