세계 콘텐츠 시장진출, 글로벌 경쟁력 타진

한·중 FTA에 따라 양국의 투자가 확대되고 있는 시점에서 중국이 방송시장개방으로 인한 외국인 투자를 전면 허용, 경쟁력 있는 콘텐츠의 수출을 기대하고 있는 (주)지오프러덕션 김기학 대표는, 그로인한 경제적 효과뿐만 아니라 국가브랜드 가치제고를 통한 제조업과 서비스업 등 연관 산업의 수출에도 파급효과를 줄 것이라 전망하고 있다. 특히 129조원에 육박하는 세계 3위 중국 콘텐츠 시장은, 정부 주도의 기반산업 발전과 적극적인 지원정책으로 영화, 애니메이션 등 문화콘텐츠 산업의 고성장이 예상되며 중국 시장 진출의 긍정적인 요인으로 작용하고 있다. 

중국과의 협력적 공생
한·중 양국은 지리적인 근접성과 문화적 유사성으로 인해 상호 영향을 주고받으며 함께 성장해 왔다. 이제 세계 속의 아시아, 아시아 속의 한·중 양국의 역할이 그 어느 시기보다 중요해졌으며 양국이 세계 문화의 중요한 흐름을 주도해 나갈 수 있는 환경이 조성되어 가고 있다. 1992년 중국과 한국이 수교한 지 어느덧 23년의 시간이 흘렀다. 중국의 급속한 경제성장과 함께 이제는 중국이 미국·일본에 이은 한국의 제3대 교역 상대국으로 부상했으며 수출상대국 1위를 유지하고 있다. 또한 한·중 양국의 인적교류는 이제 천만 명 시대로 지난 해, 한국의 박근혜 대통령과 중국의 시진핑 주석은 ‘한중미래비전 공동성명’을 통해 동북아 공동번영을 위한 청사진을 제시한 바 있다. 지난해 다시 만난 두 정상은 한·중 FTA협상의 조기 타결 등 동북아 시대의 새로운 한중 관계를 역설했다. 이제 한·중 간 관계는 새로운 동북아의 틀을 짜기 위한 시작점에 서 있다. 공동발전을 실현하고 지역 평화에 기여하며 아시아의 발전을 추진하고 나아가 세계 번영을 촉진하는 동반자가 되자는 것이 양국의 중요한 합의 정신이다. 김기학 대표는 이의 실현을 위해서는 국민 체감적인 인적, 문화적 교류를 통해 양국민 간 정서적 유대를 강화하고 마음과 마음이 서로 통하는 신뢰관계를 구축해야 함을 강조했으며 이는 양국 교류에 있어 때로는 촉매제, 때로는 중화제 역할을 할 것이라 덧붙였다. 또한 최근 발족한 인문교류공동위는 새로운 시대 중국의 꿈, 한국의 꿈을 실현하기 위한 중요한 밑거름이 될 것이라 밝혔다. 

한국과 중국은 문명을 바라보는 수준 높은 철학과 인문학적 자산의 수준이 높다. 이러한 유산들은 오랜 역사 동안의 교류로 인해 놀라울 만큼 유사성을 보이고 있다. 짧은 근대화와 현대화의 역사를 공유한 점 또한 같다. 이제는 이 오랜 문화적 자산을 바탕으로 새로운 역사를 창출해야 한다는 것이 김기학 대표의 지론이다. 그는 세계의 발전을 주도해오던 성장 일변도의 패러다임이 점차 지식과 문화가 주도하는 문화의 패러다임으로 바뀌고 있다며 지금 세계가 동북아, 그 중에서도 한국과 중국의 잠재력을 주시하고 있는 이유도 바로 여기 있다고 말한다. “중국의 사상과 철학, 중국의 문화와 예술이 한국의 사상과 철학, 한국의 문화 예술과 어울리고 뒤섞이며 백화제방처럼 피어올라야 합니다. 한중 양국 문화의 특징과 우수성을 상호 인정하면서도, 배울 것은 배우고 가르칠 것은 가르칠 수 있는 이해와 관용을 양국 국민 정서에 뿌리 내리게 해야 하며 그러면서도 양국이 공통으로 지니고 있는 평화와 화해, 발전의 정신을 공유할 수 있어야 할 것입니다.”

신세계견문-매력한국
FTA 체결을 앞두고 한·중 문화 교류는 더욱 활발히 진행되고 있다. 이에 한국의 (주)지오프러덕션과 중국의 중시곤백(북경)국제문화전매유한공사가 중국CCTV를 통해 한국의 문화 알리기에 앞장섰다. 산업, 의료, 기술, 문화강국의 이미지를 극대화하며 아름다운 이웃나라 대한민국을 알리고자 기획한 프로그램 <신세계견문-매력한국>은 국민행복, 경제부흥 및 문화융성에 기여, 한반도 평화정착과 더불어 대한민국을 아시아·태평양 시대의 주역 국가로 부상시킬 수 있을 것이라 기대를 모으고 있다.

54부작 다큐멘터리 <신세계견문-매력한국>은 한국의 의상, 음식, 관광 및 한류문화 등을 조명할 목적으로 중국 최초로 중앙TV방송국(CCTV) 올드스토리채널을 통해 회당 30~50분씩 하루 세 차례, 매주 방송 될 예정이며 1년 연속 고정방송으로 편성되었다. CCTV-올드스토리 채널은 중국 국가방송총국에 의해 승인을 받으며, 중앙텔레비전방송국(CCTV)에 속한 전국망 디지털TV에 의해 방영되는 다큐멘터리 프리미엄 채널이며 <신세계견문-매력한국>은 중앙방송국이 중국 전역으로 방영하는 유일한 한국 민속풍경 다큐멘터리이다. 이는 오랜 기간 이어 온 한·중 양국 교류의 재조명이자 한·중 양국의 국민간의 우정을 확인 및 강화하고, 양국의 역사와 전통문화를 널리 알리고 공유하는 초석이 될 것으로 보인다. 김기학 대표는 방송제작 외에도 유통, 저작권, 판권, 위성방송, 방송광고, 홈쇼핑, 갤러리, SAT-Education(교육사업), 외화수출입, 스튜디오 장비대여, 공연기획사업, 방송아카데미 등을 계획하고 있다. 

중국의 방송시장개방으로 외국인 투자가 전면 허용된 만큼 미드, 영화, 스포츠 등 경쟁력 있는 콘텐츠의 도입도 송출사업 성장에 일조할 것이라 전망한 김기학 대표는 세계콘텐츠 시장 진출에 앞서 ‘세계시장진출을 위한 국제공동제작 전략’으로 한국, 중국, 미국과 연계하여 엔터테인먼트사업 투자 확대 및 온라인 유통망 및 판로 확대, 매출 확대 등 향후 실적 성장에 기여해야 함을 강조했다. Building a global competitiveness in the cultural contents market
Korea-China co-prosperity
Traditionally, Korea and China has been growing together through interrelated influences thanks to its geographical proximity. With the rapid economic growth of China and Korea's No.1 status in the IT industry, the roles of both countries have become much more important than at any other time. Korea and China tied diplomatic relations in 1992. China emerged as Korea's third trading partner after the US and Japan and as Korea's No.1 export partner. The President Park and General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Xi Jinping once introduced a blue print for co-prosperity of Northeast Asia through The Joint Statement of Korea-China Future Vision and the number of personal interchanges between the countries has reached 10 million people as a result. The two leaders met again last year to discuss about Korea-China FTA and announced that a new age of Northeast Asia was about to begin. They agreed to grow together, promote the development of Asia and contribute to world peace.

Geo Production CEO Kihak Kim said that we need to build trust and strengthen the ties through various personal and cultural exchanges to implement the agreements between the two countries. Kim also said that the recently launched 'Korea-China Joint Academic Exchange Committee' would be an important foundation for realizing mutual interests. Korea and China are rich in philosophy and liberal arts which shows many things in common. Both countries also shared history of modernization. Kim thinks that it is time for us to write a new history based on this cultural assets. Kim said that the growth-centered paradigm of the world is changing to knowledge and culture-centered paradigm and this is the reason that the world is paying attention to the cultural potential of Korean and China. Kim continues "We need to acknowledge the excellence of each other's culture and share its value and spirit to promote reconciliation, development and peace."

'Experiencing a new world - Charming Korea'
With the impending conclusion of Korea-China FTA, cultural exchanges between the two countries is being vigorously pushed forward. To take part in the exchanges, Korea's Geo Production and China's International Cultural Monopoly Corporation (Beijing) took the initiative in promoting Korean culture in China through Chinese CCTV. The documentary 'Experiencing a new world - Charming Korea' is designed to maximize the image of Korea as a powerhouse of industry, medicine, technology and culture in pursuit of promoting Korea to be a main country in the coming age of Asia-Pacific. The documentary will be consisted of 54 episodes covering from costume, food, tourism to Korean Wave and each 30 to 50 minute long episode will be broadcast three times a day on a weekly basis for a year.

CCTV-Old Story Channel is a national digital TV premium channel specialized in documentary approved by the State Broadcasting China. 'Experiencing a new world - Charming Korea' is the sole Korean documentary to be broadcast in China. The documentary is highly expected to promote Korean culture in China as well as friendly cooperation between the two countries. Meanwhile, Kim is planning to expand his business to distribution, copyright, satellite broadcasting, commercials, home shopping, gallery, SAT-Education, import & export of foreign currency, studio equipment rental services, entertainment and broadcasting academy. Kim predicted that competitive entertainment contents will be a lucrative business in China as the government already allowed foreign investment in the country. Kim currently is planning to work with both China and the US in the hope of securing global distribution network and investment in the entertainment industry. Meanwhile, Geo Production is providing standard strategies for managerial resources, brand, capital and commercial.
