행복한 삶의 방향, 사주명리학으로 제안하다

이름이란 사람과 사람을 구분 짓는 가장 명확하면서도 첫 번째로 갖게 되는 지표이다. 우리는 태어나면서 죽을 때까지, 그리고 죽은 뒤에까지도 ‘이름’으로 불리고 평가받는다. 그런 의미에서 ‘이름’은 사람의 운명과 팔자를 결정지을 수도 있는 중요한 요소이다. 특히 인간관계의 폭이 더욱 확장된 현대사회에서의 ‘이름’이란 자신을 상징하고 알리는 도구로서 그 역할이 더욱 커지고 있다.

소리와 뜻이 조화되어야 좋은 이름
우리는 흔히 운명이란 나면서부터 결정되는 것이라고 믿고 있다. 하지만 최근의 추세를 보면 그런 생각에도 변화의 바람이 불고 있는 듯하다. 최근 개명허가 기준이 완화되면서 개명신고 건수는 날로 폭증하고 있다. 이름을 통해 운명의 방향을 보다 나은 쪽으로 변화시키고자 하는 사람이 늘어나고 있는 것이다.

수원시 영통구에 위치한 지인철학장명원은 사람의 운명과 팔자를 결정지을 수도 있는 ‘이름’을 통해 고객들에게 행복을 전달하며 크게 주목받고 있다. 지인철학작명원의 박대희 원장은 “좋은 이름은 타고난 사주를 보강하거나 개선합니다. 불릴 때 듣기 좋고, 부르기도 좋은 이름은 그 사람에게 자신감과 행복을 불러다 줍니다. 이름이 가진 좋은 뜻과 소리가 타고난 선천운에 도움을 주기 때문입니다”라고 설명했다. 그는 이름이란 주파수와 같은 것이라서 ‘소리’로서의 울림이 좋아야 그 안에 담긴 좋은 뜻도 함께 살아나는 것이라 강조했다. 좋은 뜻과 좋은 소리, 두 가지가 조화를 이루어야 ‘좋은 이름’이라는 것이다. 박 원장은 “최근 개명을 원하는 사람이 늘어나면서 이를 악용해 ‘장사’를 하는 사람들이 있습니다. 고민을 상담하면 이름이 안 좋으니 작명하라는 식이죠. 방문한 고객들에게도 풀이가 괜찮은 이름이라면 억지로 개명할 필요는 없다고 설명합니다”라고 말했다.

  박대희 원장이 사주명리학에 뛰어들게 된 것은 몸이 약했던 고등학교 시절 요양을 위해 머물던 절에서의 인연 때문이었다. 당시 운길암 선우 스님에게서 명리학을 사사받은 그는 이후 명리학자로서의 길을 걷게 된다. 전라도 광주의 신광사 주지를 맡고 있는 할머니의 영향으로 어려서부터 불교문화에 능통했던 그에게 있어 사주명리학은 마치 입던 옷처럼 잘 맞는 일이었다. 현재 원광디지털대학교에서 인상학, 동국대학교 대학원에서 동양철학을 전공하고 있는 박대희 원장은 국내 사주명리학의 대가로 손꼽히는 여러 스승님에게서 그 진수를 사사받기도 했다.

마음을 보듬는 멘토가 되고파
박대희 원장은 개인의 운명을 논함에 있어서 그들의 조상까지 운운하는 것은 옳지 못한 방법이라고 지적했다. 그들이 상담을 위해 찾아온 이유는 본인의 고민과 문제 때문이고, 이에 대한 해결책은 그 당사자에게서 찾아야 하는 것이지 멀리 있는 조상에게서 찾아야 할 필요는 없다는 것이다. 박 원장은 “무엇보다도 심도 있는 대화로 개인의 심리와 적성을 파악하고, 고객이 더 나은 운으로 나아갈 수 있는 방향이 무엇인지 생각하며 해결책을 제시하는 것이 제가 해야 할 역할이라고 생각합니다”라고 말하며 고객에게 심리적 안정을 주는 ‘멘토’가 되는 것이 진정으로 해야 할 일이라 강조했다. 또한 그는 “제게 가장 큰 스승은 바로 고객들이 아닌가 합니다. 대화를 나누다 보면 그들에게 배우는 것이 너무나도 많습니다”라고 말했다.

박 원장은 이와 같은 자세로 운을 상담하는 사람들에 대한 일반 대중의 인식 개선에도 앞장서고 있다. 세련된 인테리어와 편안한 장소에서 오랜 친구 같은 대화로 고객들을 대한다면 오랜 편견이나 잘못된 시선도 언젠가는 바뀔 것이라고 믿는 그다. 또한 그는 지역사회 봉사활동과 함께 생활보장대상자 아이들의 작명의뢰는 무료로 진행하는 등의 활동으로 지난 2012년 용인동부경찰서장 감사장, 2013년 용인시의회장 감사장을 수여받기도 했다.

사회를 변화시키고, 개인의 운명을 더 나은 쪽으로 이끄는 것은 분명 어려운 일이다. 하지만 박대희 원장은 아무리 작은 노력이라도 끊임없이 계속된다면 분명 좋은 결과로 이어지리라고 믿는다. 사람들에게 더 나은 삶의 방향을 제시하고자 노력하고 있는 박대희 원장의 마음이 많은 이들의 가슴에 깊고 진한 울림으로 전해지기를 바란다.

Harmony between sound and meaning becomes a good name
We often believe that our destiny is decided the moment we are born. But recent trend says rather differently. Due to government's deregulation on re-naming, related inquiries are explosive. This means that people who want to change their destiny by changing their name are increasing. Located in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon, Jiin Naming is drawing people's attention for its naming service. The CEO Park says "good name reinforces or improves the name given. If it sounds good when called, it gives confidence and happiness as it, alongside its meaning, helps inborn fortune" According to Park, a name is like a wave and therefore it should have good resonance and meaning. Park says "as the number of naming business is increasing, some people ill-use it to make profits. They simply just say that your name sounds no good so change it. I, on the other hand, tell those whose names are already good that they don't need to change it." Park started to get interested in naming when she was staying in a temple due to her weak health. A monk called Sunwoo in the temple (Unkil Temple) taught her about Four Pillars of Destiny and it became her career. Affected by her grandmother who was the chief monk of Shinkwang Temple in Gwangju, Park was very familiar with Buddhist culture since she was a child and Four Pillars of Destiny was a perfect suit for her. Park learned the essence of Four Pillars of Destiny from famous masters in the field in Korea and she is currently majoring in Physiognomy at Wonkang Digital University and in Eastern Philosophy at a Graduate School of Dongguk University. 

Wishing to be a mentor who embraces one's heart
Park points out that talking about one's ancestors when naming is not right. The reason they want to change their name is their business and they need to find solution from themselves but it is nothing to do with their ancestors. Park says "my role, I think, is to provide solutions through naming by analysing one's personality and talent." In that sense, she wants to be a mentor who can give customers a psychological stability. She also says "my biggest teachers are my customers. I learn a lot while I'm engaged talking with them." Meanwhile, Park takes the initiative in improving the recognition on fortune telling. She believes that if people get familiar with talking about their destiny in a comfortable and sophisticated atmosphere unlike traditionally bizarre places, over all recognition will be changed. She also participates in social services by naming poor children free of charge and for this she received a letter of appreciation from the Chief of Yongin Western Police Station in 2012 and from the Chairman of Yongin City Council in 2013. It is certainly a difficult thing to change society and one's destiny. But Park believes if she tries really hard she can bear good fruit.
