It's ok if you are not Wansaeng (completely alive),
if we can understand and empathize each other
Iculim Educational Research Institute CEO Mina Lee

The recent popular Korean drama 'Misaeng (not completely alive)' makes me feel a pressure in my heart. It aroused an empathy among the modern officer workers who have to live in the fierce competitive society. They have to admit the reality but all there has been left at the end is adaptation in the energy's camp and mind control. Does our life must be Wansaeng (completely alive)? or should we be satisfied in the available choice in Misaeng (not completely alive)? The completely dead stone 'Sasuk' in Baduk (The Game of Go) has completely lost his chance? These questions might be hard to answer.

Have you thought of people being completely cured from other people?
Iculim (Attractive) Educational Research Institute's CEO Mina Lee is a specialized lecturer who provides methods of effective communication and self-leadership for business. She is outgoing and has a sunny personality. "I have done a variety of experience since university years. I played a secretary role in a Volunteer Circle and the leader's role whenever I carried out academic tasks. Then I realized I had a talent in communication."

But she has been through many difficulties to be as she is today. Lee said "Of course I experienced difficult times. I started to work as a part timer in the reception of an imported car exhibition hall and worked as a jewelry shop manager when I went to Australia to study English. I built my experience in the service industry during those times. I often got hurt from other people but got healed from them at the same time. I wanted to actively engage into dialogue and to solve the troubles through communications. I could be able to heal myself while I was exchanging good energies with other people. It also gave me a lot of motivations."

Have you ever thought of the kindness being provided to you as granted?
An organization is consisted of people who have a different characteristics. But what would be the problems occurring in an organization? I asked Lee about 'emotional labor'. "I actually don't like the worlds 'emotional labor'. I also has worked in the related field but the feel of the words for me are exhausting. It means that the emotion expressed and the emotion inside are different and this can bring a lot of stress."

We all know that the kindness from sincerity is the best service but this is often far from reality. For this, Lee emphasized on the importance of the receivers taking the kindness by saying "they take it for granted. But it's not a one way act of givers but the interaction of both parties in appreciation. My emphasis is on the leaders to provide related programmes which are focused on care and attention. It can be to look at the inner side of the staff or to establish a standard on how to deal with the customers. These organizational level of interests and efforts can lead the emotional labors to have a stability and motivation inside and can eventually provide a good service to customers."

¡Ø In the case of Hyundai Card, they have business index that if a customer verbally abuses the staff more than 2 times, the staff can end the consulting.

I thought I'm the only one suffering but the others have the same experience
"Regarding my lectures, I think about many things before I give one. But the thing I want to achieve through my lectures is to build a good communication culture based on sincerity. The process of taking care of other people's point of view while opening up one's mind is important. I avoid to inject certain theories to the audience but provides real examples and cases so that they can feel that they are not the only ones who have the problems. This will lead to sharing each other's stories and empathies. Through these processes, I think, they can learn and grow." The philosophy of Lee when giving lectures is (like many other purpose of education) to function as a navigator for the audience to find their own answers and solutions rather than to train them to be stronger. People tend to be comforted when they know that there are other people who have the same experience as themselves.

What Lee truly wants to achieve from her lectures is to share the difficulties they have had and to communicate with others to find ways to solve the problems. Lee said that she actually hesitated when she was asked to have an interview because she does not wanted to be a star lecturer but to deliver and spread the truthfulness of her lectures to her audience only. But she nevertheless accepted the interview as she wanted to give a hope and comfort through her stories on the other hand. Like many people eventually find their own value over many conflicts in life, Lee wants to give different energy and true happiness to people in this fierce competitive society. Even though the result will not be a Wansaeng (perfectly alive).
