삶의 희망을 전하는 이 시대의 명강사

살아가다보면 좋은 일도 생기고 좋지 않은 일도 생기기 마련이다. 이렇게 한 치 앞도 알 수 없는 것이 인생이니 매 순간 우리는 노력하고 긍정적인 생각으로 하루하루를 살아가야 한다. 그래서 우리는 자신이 좋아하는 것들을 해내며 긍정적인 생각을 접하고 책이나 강의, 문화를 즐기며 다른 이들의 삶에서 새로운 전환점을 찾아 좀 더 희망적인 삶을 노래하고 있기도 하다. 최근 기업이나 단체에서도 강사들의 스토리와 교육을 통해 한층 더 새로운 앞날을 상상하고 잠시 우울했던 현실에서 빠져나와 또 다른 내일을 기쁘게 기다리고자 한다. 월간 파워코리아는 최근 다양한 활동을 펼치며 자신의 삶을 토대로 희망을 전하고 있는 김창수 교수를 만나 그의 삶과 진정성 있는 교육에 대해 들어보았다.  

진정성으로 다가서는 최고의 강사가 되기 위한 움직임
최근 희망을 노래하는 강사가 있다. 바로 누구나 책을 쓰자 운동본부 대표, 김창수 품질경영연구소 소장, 한양대학교 공공정책대학원 고위정책과정 희망특강 교수 등 다양한 분야에서 활동하고 있는 김창수 교수이다. 그의 강의는 대단한 스킬보다는 삶의 진정성을 담기에 강의를 들은 많은 이들이 감동과 희망을 간직한 채 일상생활로 돌아가기로 유명하다. ‘도전하는 마음에는 한계가 없다.’는 기치를 내걸고 차별화한 강연을 통해 희망을 심어주고 있는 김창수 교수. 그는 본격적인 프리랜스 강사로 활동한지 1년째이지만 그의 강의 경력은 벌써 11년째로 접어들고 있다.

지난 16년 간 대우건설에서 차장으로 근무하며 회사 내에 건설품질경영 강의를 만들어 강의 시스템을 정립했으며 다양한 교육들을 선보이며 각광받기도 했다. 그러던 김 교수가 본격적인 프리랜스 강사의 길로 접어든 것은 그의 가족들을 부양해야 하기에 내린 특단의 조치였다. 사실 대기업 차장 연봉이면 남들 눈에는 좀 이상적인 삶을 살 수 있겠다고 비쳐지지만 김 교수의 삶은 그리 순탄치만은 않았기에 모든 것을 내려놓고 제2의 삶을 그리기 위해 희망특강 강사의 길을 걷는 것이다. 

김 교수는 희귀병, 암, 치매로 투병 중인 4명의 가족들의 모든 부분을 책임지고 있는 가장이다. 1년의 병원비는 대기업 차장 연봉으로도 부족했기에 2013년 12월 회사를 퇴직하고 본격적으로 강사로 활동을 시작했다. 44세의 나이에 아직 미혼인 그는 가족들이 아프기에 강의를 더욱 본격적으로 할 수 있고 이 강의로 인해 새로운 꿈을 꿀 수 있다고 한다. “사실 집안에 1명만 암에 걸려도 집안이 무너진다고 하죠. 저희 집은 1명도 아닌 4명의 가족이 모두 아프죠. 그래서 강의를 들은 많은 이들이 제 삶을 통해서 희망을 얻는 것 같습니다. 어떤 이들은 제가 가족들의 아픔을 이용해 돈을 번다고 합니다. 하지만 그 또한 엄연한 사실입니다. 그 아픔을 이용해 번 돈으로 저의 가족들이 더 나은 환경에서 살 수 있다면 저는 어떤 질책도 달게 받고자 합니다. 강의는 저희 가족에게 기필코 희망이 될 것이라 믿습니다.” 이렇기에 김창수 교수의 강의에서는 진정성을 느낄 수 있고 내일은 ‘희망’ 일 수 있다는 또 다른 기대를 간직할 수 있다.     

포기하지 않는 열정으로 국민들에게 희망 선사할 것 
그의 삶은 포기하지 않는 삶이다. 어떠한 역경이 와도 인간의 힘으로 안 되는 것은 없다고 생각하기에 매 순간 긍정적인 열정으로 살아가는 것이 아닐까싶다. 하지만 결코 김 교수의 강의가 단순한 삶의 진정성만 담고 있다고 생각하면 오산이다. 다양한 스토리를 바탕으로 전달되기에 “명강의”라는 수식어도 따라다니고 있다.

그렇기에 현재 그는 전국적으로 활동하며 서울·부산·경남의 공무원 인재개발원, 새마을운동중앙연수원, 국토교통인재개발원, KDB생명, 동부화재, 롯데백화점, 쌍용자동차, 동국대학교, 한양대학교, 아시아나항공 등 공공기관 및 대기업에서 강의를 펼치며 활발한 활동을 펼치고 있다. 이 밖에도 대한적십자사 혈액관리본부 홍보위원으로 활동하며 115회의 사랑 나눔 헌혈과 함께 현재까지 총 225회 길거리 헌혈홍보 봉사활동도 실시하고 있다. 토목공학과 졸업해 건설회사에서 16년 근무하며 4권의 책을 출간한 김 교수는 누구나 책을 쓸 수 있는 희망세상을 확신하기에 <운명보다 강한 열정>, <10년의 기다림>, <보리밭 인생>, <생각을 벗어라> 4권의 책을 출간했으며, 5번째 저서인 시집 <사랑해야 운명이다>를 곧 출간할 예정이다.

대한민국에는 많은 희망특강 강사들이 존재하지만 자신의 눈물겨운 희망스토리로 더욱더 행복한 대한민국을 만들고 싶다는 김창수 교수. 아직은 많이 부족하지만 더욱더 노력해 대한민국을 대표하는 희망특강 명강사로 거듭나 가족들이 아픔에서 벗어날 수 있기를 희망한다는 그를 보며 오늘도 우리는 행복과 희망이라는 두 글자를 되새겨본다.

Being a top lecturer in honesty
There is a lecturer who sings a hope. His name is Changsu Kim. He is active as the CEO of Let Everybody Write a Book Movement, the head of Quality Management Institute, and the professor of Higher Official Course of Public Policy Graduate School at Hanyang University. His lecture is very famous as he gives sincerity than skill to the audience and many of them go back to their lives with impression and hope.

Kim's motto is "There is no limit for those who challenge". His career as a freelancer lecturer is only a year old but his lecturing experience has been 11 years. When he was working as a deputy head for Daewoo E&C for 16 years, he made a quality management lecture and established the related system and provided various education. Then he started his career as a lecturer in full time to provide for his family. Some people say that a deputy head position of a major company can provide enough but Kim's life experienced many turns and twists and he decided to turn a new leaf eventually.

He had to take care of his four family members who were suffered from rare disease, cancer and dementia. The yearly hospital fee made his salary as a deputy head small and he eventually quit the company and started as a lecturer in earnest. Kim said that he is 44 and single but this made him stronger and dream big as a lecturer. "Even a member in a family having a cancer can ruin the whole family. But in my case it's four. Maybe that's why the audience are touched when they listen to my lecture. Some say that I make money on the benefit of my sick family. Well, that's not all wrong. But if I can save my family by doing that, I will submit to the punishment because my lecture is my family's hope." For this reason, we can feel sincerity from Kim's lecture and can expect a hope for tomorrow. 

Passion that does not give up to give a hope for people
There is no give up in Kim's life. He believes that we can live positively and passionately because we overcome the difficult times that life gives us. But Kim's lecture actually gives more than sincerity as it provides a variety of stories which are the elements to make the lecture popular. Kim's sphere of activity covers the whole nation including Civil Servants Human Resources Development Center in Seoul, Busan and Gyeongnam, Saemaul Movement Central Training Institute,  Training Institute of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, KDB Life, Dongbu Insurance, Lotte Department Store, Ssangyong Motors, Dongguk University, Hanyang University, and Asiana Air.

He is also active as a publicity committee member of Blood Management Headquarters of Korea Red Cross and carried out 115 times of Love Sharing Blood Donation and 225 times of Street Blood Donation Promotion. He majored in civil engineering and worked in the construction field for 16 years and published 4 books which are 'Passion Stronger Than Fate', '10 Years of Waiting', 'Life on Barley Field', and 'Take Off Your Thought', and his fifth book 'To Love Is Destiny' is about to be published. Kim wants to give hope to his family and people, and make a better world through his lecture. Power Korea supports Kim in the name of happiness and hope.
