청정환경으로 가는 길, 아트웰(ART-WELL)에서 발견하다

우리가 “이 정도쯤이야 괜찮겠지”하고 무심코 흘려버리는 생활하수는 공장폐수 못지않게 수질오염의 원인이 되고 있다. 또한 그 양에 있어서도 공장폐수와 비교할 수 없을 정도다. 더욱이 공장폐수는 규제조치가 있고 단속도 가능하지만 가정에서 흘러나오는 오염물질들은 달리 규제할 방법이 없는 게 현실이다. 청정환경을 만들기 위해 친환경 상품을 집중 연구·개발하는 아트웰(ART-WELL)은 無세제 세탁볼과 수압상승 및 절수, 그리고 세균번식을 막는 각종 샤워기, 탈취볼 등을 개발했다. “생활 속 가계비를 줄이고 청정환경을 만들어 미래 후손에게 칭찬받는 일에 앞장서겠다”라는 사명에서 알 수 있듯이 아트웰은 우리들에게 환경오염에 대한 해결책을 제시해주고 있다. 더불어 세계시장에서 친환경 녹색기업으로서 그 입지를 다져나가고 있는 아트웰의 선전 속에서 우리의 미래비전을 확인해 보도록 하자.  

無세제 세탁볼, 선택이 아닌 필수    
거의 모든 가정에서 사용되고 있는 합성세제가 수질오염의 주범이라는 사실은 널리 알려져 있다. 공장이나 농축산물 폐수는 정부에서 규제를 통해 정화시설을 마련했지만 오염의 60%를 차지하는 생활하수는 원천적인 관리가 어렵다. 이에 아트웰 김태섭 회장은 “수질을 악화시키는 그 원천을 차단하지 않으면 수질오염 문제를 개선하기 어렵다. 단순규제만으로는 한계가 있다. 외국과 달리 우리는 세제를 습관적으로 사용하기 때문에 세제 대체품이 필요하다”며 세제 없이 세탁이 가능한 친환경 세탁볼을 소개했다. 

주택가나 아파트 단지 인근의 하천에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 거품의 원인은 세척력을 높이기 위하여 넣는 ‘인’ 때문이다. 지금은 분해가 잘 된다는 식물성 세제가 널리 사용되고 있으나  오염 시비는 여전하다. 아트웰의 친환경 세탁볼은 특수한 에너지에 의해 물분자(클러스터)가 잘게 쪼개지는 전리반응을 발생, 알칼리성을 띈 활성수로 변하면서 강력한 세정력이 갖춰지는 원리이다. 자연스럽게 세제 사용량은 줄어들고, 절수효과와 함께 잦은 세제 사용으로 인한 옷감 손상도 최소화 시킬 수 있는 것이다. 무심코 세제를 사용하는 습관을 바꾸는 것만으로도 환경오염을 줄일 수 있다. 세제 사용의 또 다른 골칫거리는 세탁물에 묻은 잔류세제로 인한 아토피 등의 피부질환이다. 반면 아트웰의 친환경 세탁볼은 세제를 거의 사용하지 않기 때문에 이러한 걱정에서도 자유로울 수 있다.

현대인에게 있어 샤워란 피로와 스트레스에 지친 심신을 달래주는 일례 행사다. 그런데 주거환경에 따라서 샤워기에 전달되는 수압이 부족해 처음의 기대감과는 다르게 상쾌함은커녕 수도세만 오르기 일쑤다. 이럴 때 샤워기 헤드를 교체하면 간단히 문제를 해결할 수 있다. 이에 김 회장은 “아트웰의 샤워기는 초미세공 샤워플레이트를 장착해 폭포수나 분수와 같은 물 분자의 깨짐을 유도하는 레나드 효과를 발현함으로써 자연스럽게 음이온을 발생시킨다. 이런 기능은 최대 60%의 절수효과와 기존 대비 300%의 수압상승 효과를 기대할 수 있다”고 설명했다. 

우리가 집에서 사용하는 샤워기는 적정한 온도와 습기 때문에 세균이 증식되기 좋은 환경이다. 또한 노화된 상수도관에서 유입된 잔류염소 및 배관의 녹, 모래 등의 부유물질들은 우리의 건강을 위협하고 있지만 아트웰의 샤워기에는 잔류염소 제거필터와 부직포 필터, 기능성 세라믹필터를 장착해 이런 문제점들을 해소하고 있다. 또한 조립과 분해가 용이해 사용자가 직접 청소를 할 수 있게 제작됐다.

지금까지의 환경정책은 그 성격상 적지 않은 행정 규제를 통해 기업을 통제해 왔다. 하지만 일반 국민들이 동참할 수 있는 구체적 기회를 제공하지 못한 것도 사실이다. 풍요로운 미래를 위해 환경보존은 필수이다. 캠페인 운동처럼 깨끗한 환경보존을 위해 일상생활에서 실천할 수 있는 방안들을 제시하고 우리 모두가 이를 실천해 나갈 때이다. 

이에 김 회장은 “지금까지 그래왔듯이 친환경 제품만을 연구하고 개발해 나갈 생각이다. 이미 친환경 세탁볼과 목욕볼, 초미세공 샤워기, 냉장고와 차량용 탈취볼 등을 소비자들에게 선보이고 있지만 청정환경을 위한 우리의 노력은 여기에 그치지 않을 것이다. 소비자를 위한, 소비자와 함께 하는 친환경 제품만이 우리 후손들에게 청정환경을 물려줄 수 있는 대안이라고 생각한다. 현재보다 나은 환경의 청정환경을 생각한다면 국민적 동참의식이 필요하다”고 강조했다.  

수질오염에 대한 근본적인 원인을 차단하지 않고 규제만 있는 정책은 결국 ‘밑빠진 독에 물붓기’일 뿐이다. 인디언 속담 중 “우리가 살고 있는 토지는 조상으로부터 물려받은 것이 아니라 우리들의 아이들로부터 빌려온 것이다”라는 경언이 있다. 

아트웰을 통해 미래 환경보존을 위해 실천할 수 있는 방안들이 구현되기를 바란다는 김태섭 회장. 그는 마지막으로 “지금까지 고도성장을 이뤄왔다. 이제 국가의 제1과제는 다음세대에게 청정환경을 넘겨주는 것이다. 이것이 우리의 가장 큰 자산이고, 아트웰의 미래비전이다”라며 그의 소신과 힘찬 포부를 밝혔다.

Non-detergent balls are a must have
It is well-known that synthetic detergent is one of the main causes of water pollution. The government built purification facilities for the factory and farm waste but domestic sewage, which takes 60% of water pollution, is difficult to manage. Kim said "if we don't cut the source of water pollution we can't improve it. Simple regulation has its limitation. Unlike overseas, we use detergent habitually and we need alternative products such as non-detergent washing balls."

The bubbles on the streams around apartment complex is caused by phosphorus that increases cleaning power. Although the vegetable detergents are widely used now but the quarrel over its pollution level is still in questions. The principle of ARE-WELL's eco-friendly washing balls is to make ionic reaction, which breaks water molecules into small particles, from special energy, that will turn it into alkaline active water. The use of detergent is naturally reduced and damages to clothes is also minimized. It means we can reduce environmental pollution by changing our habit of using detergents which also causes skin trouble like atopy as it remains on the clothes. Shower can ease our daily stress and fatigue. However, the low water pressure often disappoints us and only costs us a high water bill. If you can change the shower tap you can solve this problem. Kim said "ART-WELL shower taps are loaded with the fine shower plate. They create Lenard Effect which breaks water like a fall or fountain and naturally makes anion. This function reduces the usage of water up to 60% while increasing the water pressure by 300%." Normal shower tap we use causes proliferation of germs due to the appropriate temperature and moisture.

Kim said "like we've done so far, we will only produce eco-friendly products through R&D. We already introduced washing balls, bath balls, fine shower plates and deodorizing balls for refrigerators and cars, but we will never stop our effort. The only eco-friendly products 'for the customers and with the customers' are a great alternative to pass down a clean environment for our descendents and people need to participate."

The policy which does not prevent the source of pollution is like pouring water into a container which has no bottom. There is a saying "the land we are living now is borrowed from our descendents". Kim hopes that the ways to protect environment will be done through ART-WELL. He says "we have developed so much. Our first task now is to pass down a clean environment to generation to come. That is our biggest asset and the future vision of ART-WELL."
