미래창조과학부, 영국과 제1차 한-영 ICT 정책협의회 개최 

미래창조과학부 최양희 장관은 영국 정부와 제1차 한-영 ICT 정책협의회를 지난달 17일 오후 서울에서 개최했다. 한-영 ICT 정책협의회는 양국 간 ICT 협력 전반을 논의하는 차관급 협의체로, 작년 11월 박근혜 대통령의 영국 국빈 방문 시 양국이 ICT 분야에서의 협력 강화를 위해 신설에 합의한 바 있다. 미래부에서는 윤종록 차관이 수석대표로 참석했으며, 영국은 정부 전체의 디지털 전략을 총괄하는 리암 맥스웰 최고기술책임자(CTO)가 수석대표로 한국을 방문했다. 이번 한-영 ICT 정책협의회에서 중점적으로 논의된 분야는 SW교육, 창업지원, Open Data, 미디어 등 창조경제 구현에 직접적으로 연관되는 분야이다.

특히 SW교육 협력을 강화하고 국내 ICT 스타트업의 영국 진출을 뒷받침할 수 있도록 두 건의 MoU를 체결하는 성과를 확보했다. 이번 정책협의회에서는 본 행사 외에도 양국 공통 관심 분야에 대한 정책?동향 정보 교환을 위한 별도의 부대행사도 함께 개최되었다.

미래부 윤종록 차관은 “영국은 90년대부터 일찍이 창의영국(Creative Britain)을 모토로 창의성과 과학기술?ICT 중심의 성장전략을 추진하고 있어 창조경제 발전을 위한 최적의 파트너”라며, “이번 정책협의회를 계기로 우리의 SW교육 역량을 키우고, ICT 중소?벤처기업들이 영국으로 진출할 수 있는 기회를 만드는 데 특히 주력할 것”이라고 밝혔다.

미래부?강원도 간 평창 ICT 올림픽 구현을 위한 MOU 체결

미래창조과학부 최양희 장관과 강원도 최문순 도지사는 지난 달11월 18일 오후 3시 과천청사 미래부 대회의실에서 업무협약(MoU)을 체결하고 2018 평창동계올림픽을 최첨단의 ICT 올림픽으로 구현하기 위한 상호 협력을 강화해 나간다고 밝혔다. 최근의 올림픽은 ICT 기술의 진보에 따라 발전하고 있으며, 올림픽 자체가 개최지의 첨단 ICT 기술력을 전 세계에 알리는 경연장으로 진화하고 있다. 한편, 올림픽 개최 이후 개최지의 재정적자가 심화되는 등 부작용이 발생하지 않고, 올림픽 개최가 지역과 국가경제 발전에 기여하는 등 유의미한 올림픽 유산이 창출될 수 있도록 하는 것이 중요한 과제로 부상하고 있다. 미래부와 강원도는 이번 MoU를 통해 평창올림픽을 기회로 ICT 및 관련 융합 산업을 활성화하고, 강원도의 지속가능한 발전을 도모해 나가기 위한 협력을 추진하기로 했다. 양 기관은 선수단, 관계자, 관중 및 강원도 지역 관광객 등을 대상으로 문화, 관광, 교통 등 다양한 분야에서 ICT 기술을 적용한 신규 서비스를 발굴?추진한다. 또한, 경기장 등 올림픽 개최지역 뿐 아니라 강원도 지역에서 IoT 등 첨단기술을 기반으로 산업적 파급효과가 큰 서비스를 제공하기 위해 전문인력 및 예산, 관련 정보 등을 상호 제공해 나간다. 미래부 최양희 장관은 “평창올림픽은 ICT 강국으로서 우리나라의 입지를 강화하고 국내의 우수한 ICT 기술·서비스의 해외진출 교두보가 될 수 있는 절호의 기회로서, 강원도와 긴밀히 협력하여 평창올림픽을 세계 최고의 ICT 올림픽으로 개최하고 국가·지역사회에 지속가능한 가치를 창출하는 올림픽이 될 수 있도록 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다. 강원도 최문순 도지사는 “평창동계올림픽은 세계최고 수준의 첨단 ICT 기술을 기반으로 대회의 성공개최는 물론 문화, 관광, 교통 등 다양한 분야에서 지속가능한 지역발전이 이루어 질 것으로 기대된다”고 답했다. 

Ministry holds The 1st Korea-UK ICT Policy Forum

The minister of Science, ICT and Future Planning Yanghee Choi, with UK government, held The 1st Korea-UK ICT Policy Forum on 17 last month in Seoul. The forum is a deputy minister level council and was established to strengthen the cooperation in IT for both counties when Park visited UK last year. The forum was participated by the deputy minister Geongrok Yoon and the chief technology officer of UK Liam Maxwell. They discussed about SW education, supporting start-ups, Open data and media which are related to creative economy. They signed two MOUs to strengthen the cooperation in SW education and for supporting Korean ICT start-ups to enter the UK market. As a side forum they exchanged information on policy and tendency of the interested fields. 

Yoon said "UK has decided 'creative economy' as their motto since early 90s and has been promoting science technology and ICT-centered development strategy so they are our optimum partner. We will focus on strengthening SW education and promoting Korean ICT small, medium and venture enterprise to enter the UK market."

Ministry and province signed a MOU to actualize Pyeongchang ICT Olympics

The minister of Science, ICT and Future Planning Yanghee Choi and Gangwon province's governor Moonsoon Choi signed a MOU on 18 last month at a ministry office to actualize Pyeongchang Olympics to be an ICT Olympics. Recently Olympic games have been developed in accordance with technology and the game itself turns to show off the hosting country's ICT technology. It is also an important task to make profits through Olympics as the case usually has been the other way round. Therefore, the ministry and province will cooperate to activate ICT related industry and continue the sustainable development in the province by applying ICT technology to various fields including culture, tourism and transport for athletes, officials, audience and tourists. Also they will provide related budget, information and specialists based on IOT technology to cause a bigger ripple effect. The minister said "Pyeongchang Olympics is an opportunity to secure our status as the top ICT country in the world and to make a foothold for our technology to enter the world market. For this reason we will spare no efforts to support the event to be the world's best ICT Olympics." The governor said "based on our ICT technology we are expecting that the Olympics will be successful and create synergy effect in culture, transport and tourism fields and boost up regional economy."
