Gyeonggi province said on 30 last month that they will increase 18,000 social jobs. They will invest $1.3 billion(national expenditure 53.3%, provincial 7.7%, cities or counties 39%) in 43 sectors in 6 fields for socially disadvantaged class who are in the categories of self-support, elderly people, disabled and interrupted work career. This is 26% of their goal to create 70,000 jobs. An official of the province said "the governor Kyungpil Nam has been emphasizing on reviving the community because our economic structure is based on efficiency rather than cooperation and coexistance. Therefore, we will focus on creating more social jobs." The 18,000 social jobs include ¡â self-supporting work & community service for beneficiary of national basic livelihood and near poverty groups ¡â 37,601 jobs for elderly aged more than 65 ¡â 7,509 jobs for disabled ¡â 32,120 jobs for interrupted work career women ¡â 41,167 jobs for cultural heritage care and North Korean defectors. For this, the province established Social Jobs Department on 2 October for the first time in Korea to manage the related work in an integrated manner and is creating sustainable social jobs. The head of the province's Health and Welfare Department Hankyung Lee said "social jobs is part of the governor Nam's management philosophy 'Social Economy'(in 'Next Economy of Next Gyeonggi). We will do our best to create social jobs which will keep a balance between welfare and economy."
