지난달 26일, 서울 공덕동에 위치한 한국사회복지회관에서는 주식 컨설팅 방송으로 유명한 ‘세계로 TV’ 김원기 대표의 강연이 있었다. 살짝 찬바람이 부는 날씨에도 강연장을 꽉 채운 청중들의 열기는 뜨거웠고, 세 시간이 넘는 강연을 듣는 그들의 자세도 더할 바 없이 진지했다. 김 대표는 최근 시장 분석을 통해 ‘바이오 주를 주목하라’, ‘코스닥이 폭등하고 있다’는 등의 전망을 내놓았다. 이번 강연에서도 그는 어느 때보다 자신감 넘치는 모습으로 청중을 단숨에 휘어잡았다.

‘대한민국 미래경영대상’ 2년 연속 수상한 김원기 대표

‘세계로 TV’ 김원기 대표의 행보가 연일 화제를 일으키고 있다. 김 대표는 지난달 6일 진행되었던 ‘2014 대한민국 미래경영대상’에서 주식컨설팅 부문 대상을 수상했다. 지난해에 이은 2년 연속 수상이다. 그 뿐 아니다. 대한민국을 빛낸 한국인물대상, 대한민국 고객감동 일류브랜드 대상 등 굵직한 언론사 시상식 등에서도 주요 부문을 휩쓸었다. 한국인물연구원에서 편찬한 ‘2013 한국현대인물 33선’에 영광스런 자리를 함께 하기도 했다. 이처럼 그의 화려한 수상 이력은 김 대표가 주식시장을 넘어 경제인으로서도 이미 주목받고 있다는 것을 보여준다. 무엇이 그를 이토록 주목받게 했을까.

김 대표는 증권 애널리스트로 잘 알려진 인물이다. 그러나 그의 인생이 항상 순탄하기만 한 것은 아니었다. 어린 나이에도 막노동판을 비롯한 여러 일자리를 전전해야만 했고, 그가 처음으로 시작했던 사업은 노점상이었다. 거의 무일푼에서 시작한 것이다. 피나는 노력 끝에 그는 애널리스트의 길을 걷기 시작했고, 2013년 2월 <SBS생활경제>를 비롯해, KBS 2TV <VJ 특공대>, MBC <공감 특별한 세상> 등 다수의 프로그램에 출연하며 성공적인  주식 투자가의 면모를 보여줬다.

‘코스닥 시장을 주목하라’ 예측 적중해

김 대표는 2년 전부터 무료 주식 강연회를 시작하였고 현재는 매주 한 번 공덕역 6번 출구 한국사회복지회관 6층에서 강연을 진행하고 있다. 최근 진행하는 주제는 ‘14년 만에 코스닥 폭등장 도래’다. 전 세계적인 경기 불황과 환율악재가 겹치면서 수출 기업과 코스닥 기업 가치평가 격차가 줄어들고, 이것이 코스닥시장의 지속적 상승추세로 이어질 것이라는 분석이다. 김 대표가 처음 코스닥 시장을 주목해야 한다는 전망을 내놓았을 때 많은 분석가들은 그 의견에 반신반의하는 입장이었다.

그러나 놀랍게도 수년간에 걸친 시장 분석을 통해 탄탄히 다져진 김 대표의 안목은 이번에도 적중했다. 지난달 코스피 시장이 폭락할 당시에도 ‘세계로 TV’의 투자자들은 김 대표의 분석에 따라 코스닥 시장에 집중했고 상대적으로 낙폭이 적어 여타 투자자들보다 빨리 회복할 수 있었다. 또한 한국거래소가 지난달 21일 발표한 신배당지수에 코스닥 종목을 포함시키면서 관련 종목의 상승세가 두드러진 점 역시 코스닥 열풍에 한몫을 했다. 실제로 관련 종목은 코스피와 코스닥을 가리지 않고 나란히 상승세를 이어갔다.

하루가 멀다 하고 급변하는 시장을 예측하기란 쉽지 않은 일이다. 내로라하는 증권기업에 소속된 애널리스트들도 심심치 않게 실패를 맛보고는 한다. 하지만 김 대표의 뛰어난 안목에 힘입어 ‘세계로 TV’는 점차로 회원 수를 늘려가고 있다. 김 대표 본인이 증명한 뛰어난 수익률은 여러 회원들의 후기를 통해 입증되고 있고 이번 코스닥 시장에 대한 예측을 통해 김 대표의 주식투자 방법론이 다시 한 번 주목받게 되었다.

There was a lecture at Korea Social Welfare Center, Seoul on 26 last month. It was Segero TV CEO Wonki Kim's lecture and despite its chill weather the hall was filled up with people who were eager to listen to Kim's advice on stock investment. The audiences listened seriously for 3 hours and Kim predicted to 'pay attention to the stock in the bio field' and 'KOSDAQ is soaring'. Like his numerous previous lectures, Kim showed his power to hold the audience's attention one more time.

Awarded twice from '2013 & 2014 Korea Future Management Awards'

CEO Wonki Kim of Segero TV is still the talk of the town. He won the grand prize from '2014 Korea Future Management Awards' on 6 October in the stock consulting field. It is the second time in a row. Not only this, but Kim swept numerous prizes from big media awards such as 'Korea People Awards' and 'Korea Customer Impression Brand Awards'. Last year, Kim honorably put his name on the '2013 Korea Modern People 33' compiled by Korea People Research. The winning of this outstanding awards for Kim means that he is being recognized as a businessman over a stock analyst. What made him to get this much attention? 

Hi is known as a stock analyst. But he had many turns and twists to be called as such. Despite his young age, he had to work at construction sites and to do various hard works. The first business he did was street vendor. He started with almost zero capital. At the end of his strenuous efforts, he finally walked on the stock analyst field and proved himself how successful he has become by appearing numerous TV programmes such as <SBS Economic Life> in April 2013, KBS 2 <VJ Ranger>, and MBC <Empathy Special World>.

His prediction 'pay attention to KOSDAQ market' was fulfilled.

Kim started a free lecturing on stock investment two years ago and currently is giving it once a week at The Korea Social Welfare Center, on 6th floor, near Gongdeok subway station exit number 6. The subject of the lecture is 'The Arrival of COSDAQ Boom in 14 Years'. He analyzed that the valuation gap of the export companies and COSDAQ firms will be reduced due to global economic recession and unfavorable exchange rate, and this will lead to the COSDAQ market's continuous increase. People were half in doubt when Kim predicted to pay attention to KOSDAQ market.

Surprisingly, his know-how was proved again. Despite the KOSDAQ market being plummeted last month, Kim advised to the individual investors of Segero TV to stay in the KOSDAQ market and as the result they could recover faster than any other investors due to its relatively small fall. In addition, Korea Exchange included KOSDAQ items in the new dividend stock price index on 21 last month and this led to the increase of related items. And in fact, the related items kept going up regardless KOSPI and KOSDAQ.

It is not easy to predict the rapidly changing market environment. Even the experts who work for major securities business often fail. But with Kim's sharp analytic ability, Segero TV keeps increasing their members. The proven earning rate of Kim is being backed up by the positive feedback from the members and his recent prediction to pay attention to KOSDAQ drew the much attention to Kim's investing methods one more time.

The secret of success is but 'new value investing'. New value investing is a method to draw investment through analyzing elements such as dividend and purchase based on technical analysis, and it is praised for its credibility by individual investors.

While the existing methods choose investable companies and wait until the stock prices go up or choose day-trading to generate profits, new value investing choose the items, which the purchase is already done, and then check whether the items were undervalued. Unlike existing value investing, new value investing can check the current price faster because it checks the purchase first. Rather than choosing blue-chip stocks, it focuses on catching the growth possibility precisely.

With the anecdote 'the members of Segero TV earned $800,000 in 2 years' and Kim's winning the various awards one after another is enhancing Kim's status. Kim wrote various books such as <$10m Investment Lesson>, <Catching up Stock Investment in 30 Days>, and <Final Book of Stock> including Kyobo Books and Yes24's bestseller <People Who Made Fortune by New Value Investing> and a self-improvement book <Ulim(resonance)> which gives people a message that 'the resonance I sent will come back in bigger resonance'. The book also tells that it is important to refine one's inner resonance. Having the power to establish a goal and to go forward to achieve it can only be possible when we listen to ourselves' resonance. Kim tells about the value of money, success, happiness, health and share through resonance. We must be grateful, humble and loving in order to respond to our own resonance and to accept other's resonance.

It is Kim's nature to share his wealth with the society. Hi is running Nanum Scholorship and supporting UNICEF, Rice Sharing Movement Headquarters  Exhibitions, and Orphanage Loving. Also, he raised a certain amount of money from the audience in his weekly lecture to give it to unfortunate neighbors. Likewise, the members of Segero TV also partially participate in the Kim's charity by donation.

As a stock analyst, Kim has been a great mentor for individual investors. While everybody was focusing on emerging stocks, Kim rather exerted his effort in predicting the market prospects from different angles. Kim provided clear goals and ways to reach there for individual investors who are like wobbling sailing boats in the unpredictable stock market.
