Pushing on to environmental business and cultural enterprise

PRO-MED Korea CEO Sun Kim

Green Growth became the conversation topic around 2000 and since the Stench Prevention Law was enacted in 2005 the interest in environmental problems has been ever increasing. As s result people have much improved their recognition on the matter but the companies have not yet secured appropriate management methods. Especially the law allows the city or province to impose fines up to $50,000 on slaughterhouses nationwide and the related local governments were in such a distressful situation. Although there was a stench prevention system in Korea, the initial & maintenance costs were high which could not be matched with the advanced countries' systems. For this, Kim introduced 'Bio-Oxygen' which is an Australian air cleaning equipment system to increase domestic supply.

Introducing Australian air cleaning equipment system 'Bio-Oxygen'

Kim emigrated to Australia in 1994 and took the president position of Korea Australia Culture Association to provide consulting for the enterprises who wanted to enter both countries markets. During that time, the chairman of Korea Elderly Welfare Facility Association visited the elderly welfare facilities in Australia in 2002 and he showed a great interest in the 'patient hoisting lift' which was common to use in the country but was not available in Korea at that time. Kim said "I naturally took the consulting position to introduce the lift to Korea. After the chairman's honest request to keep supplying it I finally decided to open PRO-MED Korea in 2003."

Interestingly, the chairman asked another request to find a method to get rid of the characteristic odor of old people. Kim started various researches and found out 'Bio-Oxygen' as the best in the market. The Bio-Oxygen system was already proved in Australia, US, Dubai, Japan and Hong-Kong. Kim said "generally, the domestic products catch the odor to emit but Bio-Oxygen removes the odor from its source. It is an eco-friendly product which does not produce any second contaminants as it does not use chemicals or filters." It dismembers 216 kinds stench elements in the air and acidize the toxic gas in 30 seconds perfectly. And the initial cost is 30% cheaper than the existing products and the maintenance cost is around 30~40% level which show a great cost savings effect. However, despite its dramatic effect, there was not a recognition about the indoor air around 2006 and thus people did not much care about the stench removal system. To tackle this, Kim carried the equipment in the van and drove on nationwide to demonstrate its effect in 7~8 enterprises in a day and the total distance he accumulated reached to 23,000km. It was a tough period as she shed a lot of tears but her efforts were finally recognized as many people were getting interested in the product.

Planning to implement domestic production through transferring technology by late 2015

PRO-MED Korea's vision is 'liberated from stench complain through the work place environment improvement' and they are exerting their efforts on popularizing Bio-Oxygen. For this, they are planning to obtain a licence between late next year and early following year to implement domestic production. Kim said "those who still had the odor on their body even after a shower said they were very happy as they no longer have it. They said their wives asked whether they changed their department and I feel worth whenever I hear this kind of feedback."

As many multipurpose buildings have a lot of air cleaning problems, Kim was asked to develop a room-style equipment and she is now carrying out the research in Korea in cooperation with the head office. Kim is also planning to popularize both internationally and domestically patented manhole to remove the stench from its source. The manhole is customized for domestic manhole and it can be attached on the lid of manhole in public places to solve the odor problems.

Meanwhile, Kim established Minkyo Group under the banner of 'private exchange' and 'together with overseas Koreans' in 1995 in Australia and has been holding various cultural events. Kim is the one who imported the Korean movie 'Swiri' for the first time to Australia in 1999 and put the Korean singer Patty Kim on the stage of Sydney Opera House for the first time as well. She successfully hosted 2000 Sydney Olympic Special Show, 2001 Andr? Kim Fashion Show, and Nanta. Kim said "I'd like to introduce Korea's high level culture to the world. I'm planning to build a K-POP concert hall in Itaewon, Seoul to spread the excellence of our culture to the foreigners."

With her unique gentle speech and progressive tendencies, Kim has been a leader in developing overseas community and in spreading  Bio-Oxygen. It is for sure that Kim is a Korea's representative woman CEO and Korea's top bilingual magazine Power Korea looks forward to seeing her wonderful future.
