The changing attitudes towards consumer culture, the virtue of the capitalism, is becoming conspicuous due to the long term world economic contraction. Especially, when considering that cars are necessities for economic activities, more people are now sharing a car by joint ownership and using it based on their time slots in turn. In addition, the bad impressions on used cars are getting better, and it became an example for rational consumption. The problem, however, is that some used car dealers are adjusting mileage and its built year, and even selling the cars which are not fixed properly. This is the background that Lee opened entrusted-sales site www.friendcar.net for the frist time in Korea and is leading a new trend in the used car market.

Lee predicted that the people's needs for used cars would go up, so he planed a new paradigm for a used car sales site, and eventually introduced so called 'entrusted-sales system'. The system minimizes the damages for consumer and to sort the car types according to its features. It was the process of building a trust with the consumers against their bad impressions on used cars such as adjusted mileage & built year and being dangerous & short lifespan. Lee said "unlike other existing sales methods like just showing a car and sell, we directly collect cars,  test them ourselves, and recommend for customers to minimize the hassles."

Lee believes that dealers have to put themselves in the customers's shoes. So Lee dispelled the customers' misgivings by extending the warranty period from existing 2,000km for 30 days to 6,000km for 30 days. In addition, even after the warrant period, he gives vehicle inspection(refilling oils, free exchange of parts, and so on) once every 6 months for one year which resulted in customers' high satisfaction.

The reason this new system was realized is due to Lee's unique career. Lee used to be a private detective, and based on his experience during the time, he is now reflecting the customers' demands one by one, sorting the cars thoroughly, selling only the top quality cars. However, recently the industry people are being damaged because of some fake dealers and cars. Lee said "the problems are that the sharing of customer's information is easy due to the development of internet, and it's difficult to differentiate correct information from incorrect ones. We sell cars at the list price but customers compare our price with the fake cars. And the penalty for those fake dealers are weak and it is causing a vicious circle." Lee stressed that the strong measures, such as bad mark system, should be introduced.


It is the age of buying used cars by installment.

Friend Car has now become the strongest in the market boasting 70 customers a day and 200 at weekends. Aside from their successful business, they are running a house brand installment financial company to reduce the customers' financial burdens significantly. Lee said "we are currently in partnership with an installment finance company, and customers can have a car by installment at a low interest. The biggest advantage is that even customers with poor credit rating can still buy a car through this system."

Lee urged people to bear important key points in mind when buying a car. Firstly, they need to have enough information beforehand and meet various dealers. Secondly, vehicles without an accident can still be adjusted so they must check the performance record. Thirdly, fake dealers do not have certification and their office so they must check the certification and sign at the office. Lastly, they must keep the receipt including the expense for relocation. They also must note that the cheaper the price the more possibility a fake car can be. Lee said "both new and used car markets have a brighter future as new cars are flowing into the used car market and cars have become essential in our lives. And we promise that Friend Car will reborn as the number one used car site in Korea and we will respond with confidence for the customers."
