LG Electronics introduced strategic products at IFA 2014 to attack global market

LG Electronics introduced strategic products at IFA 2014 (the global trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances), held in Berlin from 5 to 10 September, to attack the global market.

Under their banner 'Innovation for a Better Life', LG Electronics displayed 'next generation HD display', 'advanced smart home service & high efficient home appliances', and 'differentiated innovative mobile equipments' in their booth of 2,657(m2) at the show. They built a signage at the entrance of their exhibition hall by using 20 of 84" Ultra HD Resolution Display to shoot a video footage of their customers' daily life combined with LG products in order for audience to experience LG Electronics' designs, convenience, and the best image quality.

Hyunwhai Ha, the head of LG Electronics' business department said "we will make our customers' life more abundant and pleasant with our exclusive image quality technology and user-friendly smart techniques."

They displayed next generation TV line up 'Ultra OLED TV' and 'Mega size Ultra HD TV' at the front in the show and made sure that they would take the Game Changer's role in the coming age of OLED TV.

Ultra OLED TV is the result of technological integration that is the best display combined with the best resolution, and it provides 3,300 million sub-pixels of WRGB style Ultra HD resolution so that the viewers can feel they are seeing real objects.


LG Electronics registered a patent for exclusive security solution 'Guest Mode'

LG Electronics' exclusive security solution 'Guest Mode' was registered to USPTO(United States Patent and Trademark Office) on September 3. LG Electronics has been applying for their 'Guest Mode' to patent offices in US, Europe and Korea since 2012, and is taking the step to register in other countries as well.

'Guest Mode' is a function which uses one smart phone as if it is two by differentiating the lock-patterns. In the Guest Mode, the approach to personal information such as photos, texts and messenger is blocked but only limited apps can be run. When setting Guest Mode for children, only necessary apps such as video can be run.

LG Electronics also received a patent registration number (10-1404234) for 'Knock Code' which is the representative of smart phone UX from The Korean Intellectual Property Office last June. LG Electronics has been applying for patents related to 'Knock Code' since 2008. Compared to existing number input or drawing patterns, Knock Code is much more convenient as it does turning the screen on and releasing the locked-screen at the same time. For smart phone users, they can move to home screen by touching turned-off screen a few times. And even if the screen is turned off, they can directly access to Guest Mode by using Knock Code.

Sayoon Hong, the director of LG Electronics' Design Management Center LSR/UX Research, said "we will continuously introduce differentiated and competitive UX such as Guest Mode for our customers to have a convenient and intuitive user experience."
