Brilliant night view of the city

Two sides of darkness and brightness expressed in there

Artist Myung, Eun-Ok

Gorgeous night views of a city cannot be excluded in modern people¡¯s lives. As the sun goes down, the light in the night is getting brighter and it seems there are two sides. As lots of lights are getting dark, it also looks like they are trying to get out of darkness. Capturing of that moment has been shown in other ways, but it was not popular in the painting. However, there is an artist who is putting these moments on canvas and she is Myung, Eun-Ok. So, a monthly magazine, ¡®Power Korea¡¯ met artist Myung, Eun-Ok¡¯s artworks that has expressed a gigantic night view from a big city with her unique skills and methods.

Night views of a city with a ¡®Bird¡¯s Eye¡¯

Artist Myung, Eun-Ok¡¯s works have amazing night views of cities, which are dark but splendid. These city night views look like that a bird looks at them from the sky and they are giving much stronger lights that are denying it is getting darker with plenty of lights. As for the artist¡¯s expression, travelling has become a part because of her long period of time in overseas. Artist Myung is doing those images into her canvas and showing the light far lively with using spangle as a material and some unique ways. Inside of them, there are two sides of positive and negative that she would like to show, but the negative side is that ¡®Iconic Light¡¯ talked by Jean Baudrillard who is a French philosopher. He described the light doesn¡¯t go away and is even crazy about the light over the midnight and many people seem to live with forgetting the night. Like what he said, it means a side effect out of the light. On the other hand, the positive side has some spectacular things in the city such as modern civilization¡¯s resplendence, ways, hopes and lives and has a beauty of fantastic images like a big city.

Artist Myung, Eun-Ok¡¯s artworks can give each audience a different feeling by different angles. As she uses big, small and carious colors spangles for the expression, therefore, all the audience feel like they are looking at some night views from any angle because it looks dark. Her Bird's Eye series makes people imagine the space even though that is a night view of a city. It might be because her former art works.

In the past, <SPACE-ISM>, so to speak, is a work showing the mystery of the space and energy using thick matiere and unique expression. So, artist Myung, Eun-Ok¡¯s current works has the message of the space, which we cannot see because of that reason. Her works are looking for our own looks and the artist¡¯s look as well who are living in the modern big city, which is described in anonymous sky and they are viewed by bird¡¯s eyes. This is a contemplative view and this is artist Myung, Eun-Ok¡¯s artworks.

With a dark image melting in the splendid world, she is the artist is who Myung, Eun-Ok is approaching people with her unique expression. We could feel something new mystery that we didn¡¯t feel every before out of her artworks that are showing our lives¡¯ brightness and darkness and positive and negative powers as an opposite sides at the same time.
