황사와 미세먼지의 위험성이 알려지면서 우리는 공기 오염이 인간에게 미치는 영향력에 대해서 인지하기 시작했다. 그래서 저마다 황사 마스크를 사용하고 미세먼지 농도가 높은 때에는 실외 활동을 제한하는 등 다양한 노력을 기울이고 있지만, 사실 실내 공기 오염 정도가 더욱 심각하다는 사실을 알고 있는 사람은 별로 없다. 음식 조리 시에 발생되는 가스와 연기, 냉난방기 사용 시 발생되는 각종 세균 등은 호흡기를 치명적으로 악화시킬 수 있어 주의를 필요로 한다. 특히 각종 언론매체에서는 실내 공기를 오염시키는 주요인으로 에어컨을 지목하며 에어컨 청결 상태가 건강과 직결되는 만큼 에어컨을 올바르게 사용하기 위해서는 무엇보다 정기적인 청소가 중요하다는 것을 분명히 했다. 냉난방기 전문 업체의 등장이 반가운 이유다. 냉난방기 세척이라는 블루오션을 개척한 (유)에코제이비의 강봉곤 대표를 만나 여름철 건강한 에어컨 사용법을 알아봤다. 

전북지역 냉난방기 세척시장 선도

강봉곤 대표는 맑고 깨끗한 환경을 이끌어 간다는 기업 이념을 바탕으로 고향인 전라북도에 내려와 냉난방기 종합세척이라는 분야를 개척·선도해 온 장본인이다. 그가 에코제이비를 설립한 2011년 당시만 하더라도 지역에서는 냉난방기 세척은 그저 간단한 필터 청소 정도로만 인식하던 수준이어서 냉난방기 종합세척에 대해 알리는데 많은 애로사항이 있었다. “모교를 찾거나 지인들의 소개를 통해서 학교 및 병원들의 담당자를 만나 세척의 필요성과 중요성을 일일이 설명해 나갔죠. 처음에는 직접 만나 인간 대 인간으로 대화를 나눌 수 있는 기회가 주어졌다는 것만으로도 감사해 했어요. 그러다 차츰 TV나 각종 언론매체에서 실내 공기오염의 심각성을 많이 다루게 되어 점차적으로 문의가 늘어나기 시작했습니다.” 

강 대표는 체계적인 경영시스템을 구축하는 한편, 냉난방기 세척전문회사를 일반에 알려나가기 위해 초창기 ‘클린제이비’라는 브랜드명으로 지역방송에 광고를 하기도 했다. 그러한 노력들이 모여 현재는 교육기관, 의료기간, 관공서 등 다양한 시설물에 냉난방기 세척을 책임지게 되었다. 또한 초창기에는 전주, 군산, 익산, 부안, 정읍 등 전라북도를 중심으로 성장해 왔지만, 이제는 전라남도를 비롯해 충청남도 등 다양한 지역에서 입지를 넓혀 나가고 있다.   

에어컨을 세척하면 일석삼조의 효과를 볼 수 있다

한편 강 대표는 냉난방기 세척으로 전기요금 절감과 기계 수명 연장이라는 일석삼조의 효과를 누릴 수 있음을 강조한다. 실제로 미국 UN-CALGON사의 실험에 따르면 에어컨 세척으로 열교환기, 송풍팬 등에 쌓인 먼지를 제거하면 냉난방 효율이 최적화되어 25% 정도의 전기요금을 절감할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 에어컨을 장기간 사용하다 보면 가동 중에 내부에 발생되는 습기로 인해 기기에 녹이 슬거나 부식이 진행되어 각종 에러가 발생되는데, 이 또한 전문적인 세척을 통해 간단히 해결할 수 있으며 기기의 수명도 더욱 오래 연장시킬 수 있다. “저희 에코제이비는 최첨단 장비를 사용하여 각 부품들을 분해한 후 약품세척, 고압세척, 스팀세척 등 세밀한 단계를 거쳐 냉난방기를 세척하고 있습니다. 특히 에어컨에 대한 높은 이해와 세척에 대한 높은 기술력을 보유한 전문가 집단을 이루어 더욱 높은 고객 만족을 추구하고 있습니다.”

We started to perceive the effect of air pollution on human health as the danger of yellow dust and fine dust are spreading. So we try to use a mask or refrain from going out when the concentration of fine dust is high. However, there are few people who know that indoor air pollution is far more serious. It requires a lot of attention on the fact that the various germs are produced from gas and smoke when cooking and when using a chiller or heater. Various press media pointed out that the main reason of indoor air pollution is from air-conditioner and therefore it is important to clean it on a regular basis. And this is where we welcome chiller/heater cleaning companies. Power Korea has met the CEO Kang Bong-gon of Eco JB who made a blueprint in chiller/heater cleaning and looked into directions for healthy use of air-conditioner in summer.

Leading the chiller/heater cleaning market in Jeonbuk Province

Kang is the very person who has pioneered the chiller/heater total cleaning field in his home town Jeonbuk Province, under the cooperate philosophy 'Leading clean and clear environment'. When he established Eco JB in 2010, he had many difficulties to let people know about chiller/heater total cleaning because they just thought that the overall cleaning would be done if they only cleaned the filter. "I started to explain the importance of cleaning to the persons in charge in schools and hospitals. I was just glad by having opportunities to meet them at frist. And then the media started to make a report on the seriousness of indoor air pollution and I got inquiries about the matter from a lot people" said Kang. He then built management system and commercialized his initial brand 'Clean JB' through regional channels. And as the result, Kang is now responsible for cleaning chillers and heaters in various places like educational institutes, medical institutes and government offices. Although his business boundary was limited only to Jeonju city, Gunsan city, Iksan city, Buan county and Jeongeup city, however, he is now covering Jeollanam-do Province and Chungcheongnam-do Province. 

Cleaning to Kill Three Birds with One Stone

Due to the scorching summer heat people started to use air-conditioner earlier. However, the stale smell that comes out from the machine in households or cars are not pleasant. The problem is the propagation of germs which is produced from air-conditioner and running it in enclosed space can be directly linked to the quality of air which eventually affects our health badly. The germs and mold inside air-conditioner are spreading through the air and cause asthma and atopic dermatitis. About 20 Viruses detected in chillers and heaters such as legionella, salmonella and food poisoning bacteria are particularly threatening to children, old and disabled people and pregnant women. "As summer and winter are getting longer it is a must to clean chiller and heater thoroughly" saild Kang. He emphasized that by cleaning the machines people can save on electricity bill and expand its lifespan. It is like Kill Three Birds with One Stone. According to an examination carried out by American company UN-CALGON, we can save 25% on electricity bill if we remove the dust piled on the heat exchanger and draft fan. And when using it longer, there happens to be rust and corrosion which cause various errors and this can also be solved by specialized cleaning. "Eco JB uses state-of-the-art facilities to disassemble component which then will be followed by chemical, high-pressure and steam cleaning. We have deep understanding about air-conditioner and high techniques on cleaning and we can give a full satisfaction to our customers" said Kang.

Like the interest of people in wellbeing and food has increased, I try my best to maintain cleaner air" said Kang.
