타투는 또 다른 나를 만드는 새로운 문화

최근 롯데시네마 건대입구에서 열린 영화 <경주>의 언론배급 시사회에서 배우 윤진서의 모습이 화제를 이루고 있다. 화제가 된 그녀의 모습은 화려한 패션도, 더욱 화사해진 미모도 아니었다. 바로 왼쪽 발목 위에 새겨진 작은 타투 때문이었다. 프랑스어 ‘Savoir-vivre' 문구와 함께 독특한 문양을 나타내고 있는 이 타투는 우리말로 ’삶을 알다‘라는 의미를 담고 있다. 이처럼 크고 작은 문양들과 자신의 감정을 나타내는 문구들로 이뤄진 타투는 이제 더 이상 숨겨야하는 치부가 아닌 나를 디자인하는 새로운 문화로 자리 잡고 있었다. 월간 파워코리아는 단순한 타투에서 벗어나 우리나라 전통 문양을 비롯해 특별함을 디자인하는 케이지타투 강승훈 대표를 만나 타투의 매력에 대해 들어보았다.  

인생의 포인트를 담아내는 타투의 매력   

부산 대연동에서 활동하고 있는 젊은 타투이스트 강승훈 대표가 이끄는 케이지타투는 영원함을 새기며, 이 분야에서 최고의 타투들로 정상에 서겠다는 의미를 담고 있다. 이 같은 마음가짐으로 시작한지 벌써 7년이란 시간이 흘렀고 이제는 부산을 대표하는 타투샵으로 인정받고 있다. 

어릴 적부터 그림을 좋아했던 강 대표는 각종 미술상을 휩쓸며 그림에 남다른 재능을 보였다. 그 후 스카우트 제의를 받아 미술학원 강사로 활동했지만 단순히 입시를 위한 교육과 그림 방법은 지루함의 연속이었고 그 자체만으로는 자신이 표출하고자하는 그림을 그릴 수 없었다. 그러던 중 우연히 21살 호기심으로 접한 타투는 강 대표의 인생을 바꾸는 터닝포인트가 되었고 지금의 케이지타투가 탄생되는 결과를 만들어냈다. “타투를 처음 접했을 때 가슴이 뻥 뚫렸죠. 그림그리기를 좋아했던 저에게 몸으로 표현하는 타투는 새로운 의미를 담고 있었습니다. 잊어서는 안되는 것, 나를 표현하는 방법, 삶을 살아가는 의미 등을 담아내는 것이 바로 타투의 매력이었습니다.”  

이처럼 과거와 달리 타투도 지향하는 성격이 변화하고 있었다. 타투가 과거에 흔히 조폭들의 문신처럼 위협적인 느낌이 강했다면 이제는 그런 부분에서 벗어나 나만의 진정한 의미를 부여하고 그로 하여금 남들과는 다른 나를 만들어가는 하나의 문화로 자리 잡고 있었다. 

대한민국의 타투 문화를 만들어가는 ‘케이지타투’

케이지타투 강승훈 대표는 이레즈미, 블랙&그레이, 뉴&올드스쿨, 트라이벌, 레터링, 패션&미니타투 등 전문적인 타투의 모든 것을 표현하고 있다. 특히 이레즈미는 타투의 장르를 넘어 남녀노소 불문 모두가 선호하고 있다. 하지만 일본에서 넘어온 일본 전통 문신인 이레즈미는 일본의 옛 그림들을 새기는 것으로 전 세계적으로 인정받고 있다. 강 대표는 “이레즈미의 형식에 우리나라의 옛 그림들을 적용해 새긴다면 더욱 멋진 문신이 되고 사회적인 인식을 바꾸는 계기가 될 것”이며 “이런 부분을 개선하기 위해 전국의 모든 타투이스트들의 노력이 필요하다”고 강조했다. 이 밖에도 타투는 자신의 생각이나 의견, 그리고 신념이 필요하다. 어떤 이의 타투 이미지가 마음에 들어서 따라하는 것 보다 내가 진정 원하는 사상이나 의미를 담고 직접 디자인하거나 의뢰해 이 세상 어디에도 없는 나를 디자인하는 것이 타투의 진정한 의미이기 때문이다.  

화가를 꿈꿨던 소년에서 이제 국내 최고의 타투이스트로 주목받고 있는 케이지타투 강승훈 대표. 독창적인 아이디어와 젊은 패기로 타투에 진정한 의미를 부여하고 싶다는 그는 새로운 문화를 만들어가는 진정한 아티스트였다.

Tattoo is a new culture to make another myself

Recently, it is becoming an issue for actress Yoon, Jin-Seo’s look from a press premier of the movie, <Race>, which was held in Lotte Cinema of Kon-Kuk University. It was not her stunning fashion or her beautiful face. The reason of spotlighting her was her small tattoo in her left ankle. It was in French, ‘Savoir-vivre' and looked very unique. The meaning of tattoo is ‘Know Life’. Like that, tattoo showing the own emotion in small or big patterns or words is getting a new culture to be able to show ourselves, not hiding all the time as an embarrassing area in a body. For that, monthly magazine, Power Korea met CEO Kang, Seung-Hoon of KEI-Z TATOO to listen to the attraction of the tattoo who is designing something special and unique including Korean traditional patterns out of just simple technique. 

Attraction of tattoo that is capturing a point of life 

CEO Kang, Seung-Hoon of KEI-Z TATTOO who is a young tattooist working in Daeyeon-dong, Busan is carving the eternity with the meaning of being a top in this field. With that attitude, he has been working on this for 7 years so far and now, his tattoo shop is chosen to represent the famous local tattoo, Busan. For CEO Kang who used to love paintings, he showed his gift on that painting and swept all the painting competitions when he was younger. Later, he got an offer to be a teacher at an art school and taught students there for a while but, the education system for the university was a sequence and he couldn’t express himself in paintings as it was. Meanwhile, he discovered tattoo out of curiosity by chance and he was at 21. It was his turning point in life and this is how the KEI-Z TATTOO was born as a result. 

“When I saw a tattoo, I felt so much refreshed in my mind. As I was so into painting, the tattoo work was a totally new process and it had a complete new meaning for me, since it expressed in a body. Something that people should not forget, a way to show who they are and having some meanings for life and they are all attractions to me.” 

‘KEI-Z TATTOO’ is that making Korean tattoo culture 

CEO Kang, Seung-Hoon of KEI-Z TATTOO is expressing everything about professional tattoos such as Irezmi, Black & Grey, New & Old School, Trivial and Fashion & Mini-Tattoo. Especially, Irezmi is very popular for many people, it is a tattoo to express Japanese traditional tattoo. This kind of tattoo is actually famous all over the world. CEO Kang emphasized, “If taking that Irezmi style with our Korean paintings, it will be better looking tattoo and an opportunity to change the social bias for tattooing. To improve this perception, tattooists in this country have to make some efforts.” 

Other than that, tattoo needs the own idea, thoughts and belief in working. Someone wants to put his philosophy or a meaning in desire, so he suggests the own design or ask me. I think this is a true meaning of tattoo.  CEO Kang, Seung-Hoon of KEI-Z TATTOO who was dreaming of being an artist became a great tattooist in Korea and caught a lot of attention now. He is a real artist who is building up a new culture since he wants to put that true meaning in tattoo with his unique ideas and young vigor.
