KOTRA, 글로벌 프로젝트 플라자 2014 개최

- 40개국 80개 해외 발주처 초청, 1,300억 달러 규모 프로젝트 장 -

- 도시 인프라, 해외 신도시 개발 및 재개발 프로젝트 집중 지원 -

   산업통상자원부가 주최하고 KOTRA(사장: 오영호)와 한국 엔지니어링협회(회장: 이재완)가 주관하는 『글로벌 프로젝트 플라자 2014(Global Project Plaza 2014)』가 지난달 20일 롯데호텔에서 개최됐다. 행사장에는 40개국 80개 발주기관의 해외 인사 90명과 국내 관심기업 500여명이 참석했다. 이번 행사에는 건설, 엔지니어링, 플랜트, 인프라 구축 등 해외 프로젝트 전 분야에 걸쳐 총 1,300억 달러 규모의 프로젝트가 소개되어 국내 건설 경기 침체로 적극적인 해외진출을 모색하고 있던 우리 기업들의 활발한 참여와 관심을 유도했다.

특히 전체 규모가 80억 달러에 이르는 말레이시아 MRT라인 건설 프로젝트, 45억 달러 규모의 태국-베트남 석유화학단지 프로젝트, 20억 달러 규모의 인도네시아 수카르노-하타 고속철도 프로젝트 등 주요국 정부가 국책사업으로 추진 중인 프로젝트가 소개되어 해외 공공부문 진출을 희망하는 우리 기업들의 주목을 받았다. 또한 우리 기업과 협력을 원하는 사우디아라비아, 남아프리카공화국, 중국 등의 해외 EPC 업체들도 다수 방한하여 독자적으로는 해외 사업을 수행하기 어려웠던 우리 중소?중견기업들도 이번 행사를 통해 해외 진출 기회를 얻을 것으로 기대된다. KOTRA의 글로벌 프로젝트 플라자는 지난 2008년 첫 개최 이래 올해로 8회째를 맞는 국내 최대 규모의 해외프로젝트 세미나 및 상담회이다. 국내 기업이 접촉하기 힘든 세계 각국 주요 발주처를 한자리에 초청함으로써 우리 업체들의 해외진출에 든든한 주춧돌 역할을 수행해오고 있다. 지금까지 총 380개 발주처를 초청해 3천여 건 이상의 상담 실적을 달성한 바 있다.

그 동안 국내 기업이 수주한 대표적인 프로젝트는 12억 달러 규모 칠레 레드 드래곤 화력 발전소 프로젝트, 500만 달러 규모 우즈베키스탄 도로건설 감리 프로젝트, 200만 달러 규모 방글라데시 다카 BRT 건설 설계 프로젝트 등으로 다양한 분야의 성과로 그 영역을 넓혀가고 있다. 특히 다카 BRT 건설 설계 프로젝트는 국내 최초의 방글라데시 공공 프로젝트 진출사례로써 의미를 가진다. 한편 KOTRA는 신흥국 신도시개발 및 도시재생 프로젝트에 대한 우리 기업의 진출 수요에 대처하기 위해 ‘도시인프라’ 섹션을 별도로 운영하는 등 우리 기업이 관심을 가지는 분야에 대한 특화지원 서비스를 선보였다.

또한 지난 1월 박대통령의 인도 순방 당시 협력을 논의했던 델리-뭄바이 산업벨트 개발 프로젝트의 발주처를 비롯해 베트남, 인도네시아 및 폴란드 정부 인사들을 적극 초청하여 국내업체와 실무 상담을 진행하는 등 그동안 정상외교를 통해 구축한 국가 간 협력기반을 실질적 성과로 연결시키기 위한 노력들을 반영했다. 20일 프로젝트 설명회를 마친 발주처 담당자들은 21일 국내기업들과 1대1 매칭 상담회를 가질 예정이다.

KOTRA 오영호 사장은 “한국의 경제성장과 도시화 경험을 공유하고 전파하기 위해 도시인프라 섹션을 별도로 구성했다. 이번 행사를 통해 신흥국 프로젝트에 대한 특화진출 전략을 세우고 해당국과도 보다 포괄적인 협력 체제를 구축할 것”이라며 “정부 출범 이후 다양한 해외 순방 및 국빈 방문과 연계하여 비즈니스 성과를 높이도록 노력하겠다.”고 밝혔다.

한국 청년인재 찾아...글로벌기업 대거 방한

- 최근 경색된 한일 관계 속 한국청년 채용 수요는 확대 -

- 유턴기업 포함 해외진출기업 중견전문인력 채용상담회도 병행 -

   KOTRA(사장 오영호)와 산업통상자원부(장관 윤상직)는 청년의 해외진출을 지원하는<2014글로벌취업상담회>를 지난달 15일부터 16일까지 코엑스에서 개최했다.

이번 상담회에는 일본의 빅3 자동차 메이커인 닛산, 5대 종합상사인 마루베니와 스미토모,광고업계 세계 최대 회사인 덴츠를 비롯한 53개 일본 글로벌 기업과 11개 유럽기업이 참가했다. 일본기업 중에는 매출액 1억 달러 이상의 글로벌 기업 26개사, 업계 1위의 중소·중견 기업 등 다수의 초우량기업이 포함됐다. 참가 기업들은 영업 관리직,기술직,생산관리직 등 다양한 직종에서 한국인 청년 170여명을 채용할 계획이다.특히 최근 경색된 한일 관계에도 불구하고 일본 기업은 글로벌시장 진출과 한국과의 비즈니스 확대를 위해 한국인 청년 채용을 오히려 확대하는 것으로 나타났다. 이번 취업상담회에는 사전 등록한 청년 구직자 천 명과 당일 현장에서 등록한 구직자등2천여 명이 참가했다.행사장을 방문한 H씨(27세)는 “요즘 국내취업이 어렵다고 하는데,해외로 눈을 돌리면 또 다른 기회가 있을 것으로 기대한다” 라고 참석 이유를 밝혔다.또 다른 구직자K씨 (28세)는 “꼭 국내 대기업에 취업하는 것만이 길이 아니라고 생각한다. 시야를 조금 넓혀 세계무대로 나가 다양한 경험을 쌓고 싶다”고 말했다. 참가자들은 해외취업을 통해 글로벌 비즈니스 경험을 쌓고 이를 통해 글로벌 인재로 성장하는 것이 가장 큰 참석 이유라고 밝혔다.

오영호 사장은 “이번 행사는 청년에서 장년까지 다양한 계층에게 해외취업기회를 제공할 뿐만 아니라,일본·유럽의 주요기업,해외에 진출한 중소·중견기업 등 일자리질이 높다는 데 의의가 있다”라며“앞으로 청년의 해외진출이 우리나라의 무역·투자 확대로 연계되도록 양질의 해외 일자리를 적극 발굴해 나갈 계획”이라고 밝혔다.

KOTRA opens the Global Project Plaza 2014

- Invites 80 foreign ordering companies from 40 countries for the project worth $130 billion 

- Focused support on city infrastructure, new town development overseas and redevelopment projects

<Global Project Plaza 2014> hosted by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Resources and managed by KOTRA (president Oh Yeong-ho) and Korea Engineering Association (president Lee Jae-wan) opened at Hotel Lotte on 20^th last month. This event was attended by 90 foreign people of 80 ordering institutions from 40 countries and over 500 persons from domestic enterprises. At this event, projects in the size of a total $130 billion over the whole fields overseas, including construction, engineering, plant and infrastructure building, were introduced attracting attention to active participation and interest of our enterprises, which had been seeking for active advance overseas from the economic slump of domestic construction. 

Especially, such state projects as Malaysian MRT Line construction (worth $8 billion for a total size), Thai-Vietnam petrochemical complex ($4.5 billion), Indonesian Soekarno-Hatta high-speed railway ($2 billion), etc. were introduced to draw attention from our enterprises which was hoping to find a market in the foreign public sector. Besides, EPC companies overseas in Saudi Arabia, Republic of South Africa, China, etc. hoping for partnership with our enterprises visited Korea in numbers to give an opportunity for foreign advance to our smaller and established enterprises which had felt difficulty carrying out business overseas on their own. KOTRA’s Global Project Plaza is domestically the largest size in foreign project seminar and consultation marking the 8^th year since it was first held in 2008. By inviting main ordering companies from the world hard to reach by a domestic enterprise, this event has been performing the role as a firm prop for our enterprises’ advance overseas. It has invited a total of 380 foreign countries so far achieving the consultation performance result of over 3,000 cases. 

Typically, so far domestic enterprises have received orders in the projects of Chile Red Dragon thermoelectric power plant ($1.2 billion), Uzbekistan road construction superintendence ($5 million), Bangladesh Dhaka BRT construction design ($2 million), etc. expanding their successful results to diverse fields. Especially, project of Dhaka BRT construction design has significance because it is the first case in which our country has advanced into Bangladesh public project. In the meantime, KOTRA, to cope with the demand for our enterprises’ advance into the new town development and urban regeneration projects of emerging countries, set about specialized support service on our companies’ fields of interests like by separately managing ‘urban infrastructure’ section.

KOTRA also invited Vietnamese, Indonesian and Polish government persons positively, including ordering the company for Delhi-Mumbai industrial belt development project which had been discussed for cooperation when President Park visited India last January, to proceed with practical business consultation with domestic companies. This was one of the ways KOTRA made efforts to connect the basis of international cooperation built so far through summit diplomacy to practical results. Persons from ordering companies who completed the project presentation on 20^th are going to have a one-to-one consultation meeting with domestic companies on 21^st.  

Saying, “We composed a separate section of urban infrastructure to share and spread the Korean experience of economic growth and urbanization. Through this event, we will set up the specialized advance strategy on the projects of emerging countries and build a more inclusive cooperation system with relevant countries.” KOTRA president Oh Yeong-ho declared “We will make endeavors to increase business results in connection with diverse foreign visits one after another and state visits since the launch of this government.”

Global enterprises visit Korea in a body to find able youths in Korea.

- Demands for employing Korean youths expand even in recently stringent Korea-Japan relations 

- Go abreast of the consultation meeting to hire established professionals for enterprises in the foreign market including U-turn ones  

KOTRA (President Oh Yeong-ho) and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Resources (Minister Yoon Sang-jik) held <2014 Global Employment consultation meeting> at KOEX to support the youths’ employment in foreign markets from 15 through 16 last month.             

At this consultation meeting attended 53 Japanese global enterprises, including Nissan, Japan’s big-three car maker, Marubeni and Sumitomo, big-five general trading companies, Dentsu, the world’s biggest company in the advertising industry, and 11 European ones. Japanese enterprise included many blue chip enterprises, such as 26 global enterprises over the sales of $100 million and smaller and established enterprises ranking first in the industry. The participant enterprises are going to hire around 170 Korean youths through diverse types of occupation including sales, administration, technology, production management, etc. Especially, despite the Korea-Japan relations recently in fix, it turned out that Japanese enterprises are rather expanding their employment of Korean youths to find the global market and expand business with Korea. At this employment consultation, one thousand preregistered job seeking youths and two thousand applicants who registered at the scene that day participated. H (27) who visited the event clarified his reason for attendance, “These days, many people say it is hard to find a job at home. Still, I expect there will be another opportunity to turn our eyes to overseas.” Another job hunter K (28) said, “I don’t just think it is best to join a large domestic company. Broadening my outlook, I want to pile up diverse experiences by going out onto the global stage.” Participants clarified that it is their biggest reason for attendance to pile up the experience of global business through securing employment overseas and build up into globally able persons.

President Oh Yeong-ho said, “This event has significance not only in providing an opportunity to work overseas for diverse classes from youth to manhood but also in the high job quality offered by major enterprises of Japan and Europe and the smaller, established enterprises which have advanced overseas. We are planning to turn up quality jobs overseas so that the youth’s foreign employment may connect to our country’s expanded investment in international trade for the future.”
