Yoon talks with future scientists
Scholarship and award winning future scientists at the International Mathematical Olympiad last year were invited to a meeting with President Yoon. Yoon said that talented scientists and advanced technologies are the cornerstone of a country's driving force and asked them to lead the way.
The government allocated 3 billion won presidential science scholarship budget this year and 120 received the benefits. Yoon promised that the government will introduce a research and living scholarship for master's course students from next year. Yoon and 200 attendees exchanged thoughts and opinions on the day in Q&A and the attendees included 110 college students and 50 middle and high schoolers.
Yoon encourages Reserve Officer's Training Corps
President Yoon attended the ROTC commission ceremony on February 28. Yoon encouraged military cadets and asked them to stand strong and trustworthy for the people. Yoon introduced some of the attendees who gave up their foreign citizenship, 3 generation military families and descendants of Korean War veterans and praised them high.
He said that the Korean army has defended free democracy of the country for the last 70 years against threats and provocation of the north and he is thankful to the soldiers who are protecting our sky, land and sea at this very moment. He said that the true peace comes from overwhelming capabilities and preparedness and we must act immediately and overwhelmingly when the north has taken a provocation. He also pointed out the importance of cooperation between South Korea, Japan and the US as well as consolidation with the international society.
