외래 관광객 1,000만 명 시대, 관광대국 도약 다짐

‘최광식 문화체육관광부 장관 등 업계 인사 500여 명 참석’

문화체육관광부(장관 최광식)는 임진년 새해를 맞아 6일 오후 5시 밀레니엄서울힐튼호텔에서 ‘2012 관광인 신년 인사회’를 열고 관광대국 도약의 결의를 다졌다.

이날 행사에는 남상만 한국관광협회중앙회 회장, 신동빈 한국방문의해 위원회 위원장, 이참 한국관광공사 사장, 지창훈 대한항공 사장 등을 비롯한 주한 외교사절, 정계, 언론계, 유관기관 및 단체 관계자 등 500여 명의 인사들이 참석하여 자리를 빛냈다.

이번 신년 인사회를 통해 한자리에 모인 관광업계 인사들은 ‘1,000만 외래 관광객 시대 개막’을 축하하고 관광대국으로의 도약을 다짐했다.

그동안 여러 악재 속에서도 관광업 종사자들이 힘을 모은 결과, 지난 3~4년간 외래 관광객 수가 비약적으로 증가, 작년에만 약 980만 명이 한국을 방문했다.

이날 행사는 ‘2010-2012 한국방문의해’의 마지막 해인 올해 외래 관광객 1천1백만 명을 달성하고, 2020년에 외래 관광객 2천만 명 유치 및 관광수입 300억 달러를 달성하는 등의 양적 성장과 더불어 관광 수용 태세 선진화를 통한 관광 산업의 질적 성장도 함께 도모하기 위한 관광산업 재도약의 기틀을 마련한 매우 뜻 깊은 자리였다.

미래의 관광 꿈나무인 미소국가대표들(한국방문의 해 대학생 홍보단)은 참석자들과 함께 외래 관광객 1,000만 시대 개막을 축하했으며, 주요 인사들과 함께 앞으로의 관광 발전을 위해 다함께 노력하자는 의미의 퍼포먼스를 진행했다. 세계적인 문화·관광 국가로 변화하고 있는 대한민국을 좀 더 새롭고 다채로운 관광국가의 반열에 올리기 위해 문화체육관광부는 2012년 한 해를 외래관광객이 편하고 유익하게 즐길 수 있는데 중점을 두겠다고 밝혔다. 

Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Choi-Gwangsik) had "a New Year's Kick-off Greetings of 2012 tourism people" at 5 pm on 06 January in the Millenium Seoul Hilton, and pledged to take a leap to a country to be noted for its tourism. 

The presence of the following figures dignified the event: Chairman Nam Sangman of Korea Tourism Association, Chairman Shin Dongbin of Visit Korea Committee, Lee Charm, CEO of the Korea Tourism Organization, Ji Changhin, the President of Korean Air, foreign envoys in Korea and 500 figures of the political world, the press, the agencies concerned and organizations. 

Through the event, New Year's Kick-off Greetings, the figures of tourism business met together, celebrated the kickoff of a new era of 10 million foreign tourists, and pledged to Jump up to one of the leading tourism countries.

In spite of a few bearish conditions, workers of tourism business have united in their efforts to cooperate with each other, so foreign tourists have rapidly increased for the last several years, and 9.8 million tourists visited Korea only last year. 

The event was a great significance one in which they can lay the groundwork to attract 11 million tourists in this year when it is the last year of "2010?2012 Visit Korea years", and leap again in order to advance the quality of tourism business growth through developing preparations to receive tourism together with the quantitative expansion of attracting 20 million foreign tourists and achieving $30 billion of tourism revenue.

Smile Korea members (public-relations group of college students, Visit Korea Years), the young people of tourism, the attendance, and together with the important figures celebrated the kickoff of a new era of 10 million foreign tourists and showed the performance meaning making our efforts all together.

Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced its plan to place emphasis on making the year 2012 to be a great time when foreign tourists will comfortably enjoy the tour with helpfulness so as to place the Republic of Korea which is changing to the leading culture and tourism nation in the ranks of more new and colorful tourism countries.
