Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Choi-Gwangsik) had "a New Year's Kick-off Greetings of 2012 tourism people" at 5 pm on 06 January in the Millenium Seoul Hilton, and pledged to take a leap to a country to be noted for its tourism. 


The presence of the following figures dignified the event: Chairman Nam Sangman of Korea Tourism Association, Chairman Shin Dongbin of Visit Korea Committee, Lee Charm, CEO of the Korea Tourism Organization, Ji Changhin, the President of Korean Air, foreign envoys in Korea and 500 figures of the political world, the press, the agencies concerned and organizations. 


Through the event, New Year's Kick-off Greetings, the figures of tourism business met together, celebrated the kickoff of a new era of 10 million foreign tourists, and pledged to Jump up to one of the leading tourism countries.


In spite of a few bearish conditions, workers of tourism business have united in their efforts to cooperate with each other, so foreign tourists have rapidly increased for the last several years, and 9.8 million tourists visited Korea only last year. 


The event was a great significance one in which they can lay the groundwork to attract 11 million tourists in this year when it is the last year of "2010?2012 Visit Korea years", and leap again in order to advance the quality of tourism business growth through developing preparations to receive tourism together with the quantitative expansion of attracting 20 million foreign tourists and achieving $30 billion of tourism revenue.


Smile Korea members (public-relations group of college students, Visit Korea Years), the young people of tourism, the attendance, and together with the important figures celebrated the kickoff of a new era of 10 million foreign tourists and showed the performance meaning making our efforts all together.

Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced its plan to place emphasis on making the year 2012 to be a great time when foreign tourists will comfortably enjoy the tour with helpfulness so as to place the Republic of Korea which is changing to the leading culture and tourism nation in the ranks of more new and colorful tourism countries.
