On 15^th in this Month, Han Myeong Sook was elected as the first Chairman at the United Democratic Party. On the Democratic Party Convention held at the Contex located in Ilsan, Han Myeong Sook was elected based on the One Person-Two Votes method. The designated voters consisted of citizens, members of the party, and members of the delegation. As a result of 70-to-30 ratio of the vote, she earned 252,986 votes. She did not only win the designated elector vote executed with mobile device and on-spot vote but also win the delegate vote. Moon Sung Keun finished second with 175,465 votes and Park Young Sun finished third with 165,619 votes. Park Jie Won, called the major runner in the Honam district, finished fourth and Lee In Young, Kim Boo Cum, Lee Hak Young, from the Civil Society Association, Lee Gang Rae, and Park Young Jin finished fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth respectively. In this election, 650,000 of average citizens firstly and historically voted to select their party’s leader with 12 members from the Democratic Party, and the mobile-device vote rate was 84.4% that was higher participation compared to the delegation members’ vote rates (60.4%).

Han Myeong Sook has been elected as the first chairman at the United Democratic Party, a teamed party of the Democratic Party, the Civil Union Party, and the FKTU (Federation of Korean Trade Union). The reason Han won the election was because she was able to earn diverse votes from a variety of regional aids as the high-profile- harmony-converged-leadership has been emerged. Regarding the remarkable occurrence in this election, Han Myeong Sook and Moon Sung Gun, who were the best political companions of the former President Roh Moo Hyun, became leaders of the Democratic Party, meaning the followers of the President Roh started gathering power.  

For 5 years since 1989, the chairman Han founded her political career as being a leading member of the Korean Women Link & the Korean Women Association Union, the first female minister of the Environment Ministry in 2003, and the first female Prime Minister in 2006. 

On the first representative speech, the Chairman Han stated, “I will start my journey as breaking Lee Myung Bak regime down in the name of 800,000 people participated in the vote and innovate the current political preference and human resource that will result in impressing people.” She also said, “Through this successful election, the average people society, labors, and democratic just started being united. We will become opened and mutual-communication party.” She further addressed, “I will not let any offensive establishment interfere our party to impress our followers who anticipate the brilliant way to nominate the party’s candidate.”  

As she became the Chairman, the upcoming April 11 general elections will be interested because the two representatives, one is Han and one is Park Geun Hye, a leader of the Grand National Party, will be competed that is the first female political competition.
