Looking at her paintings, I feel like I am the main character in them and see the world as a white sheet of paper.
Painter Sun Hee Sung, who paints to express most beautifully the world we live in, has expressed purity, affection, and vitality through her peculiar imagination and fantasy about childlike innocence.
We can define the motif of her paintings as: representation of emotions filled with sheer purity and affection. We can also define flowers, the most frequent theme of her works, as a medium for catharsis.
In her painting "flight" and a set of paintings about "love", flowers symbolize dream, hope, and presence as an illusion. She reincarnates herself into flowers and explores endlessly on her canvas this unknown world. Like a seeker after truth, she embodies on the canvas familiar images where she meets those symbolized flowers while travelling to fantastic spaces. We can find her enthusiastic and emotional color as an individual to ooze from those paintings.
Painter Sung has continuously made public the essence of her art in 9 individual exhibitions, and dozens of collective exhibitions and previews. Her works exhibit slight variations in color and configuration, depending upon the season, but she always keeps her purity and intense colors on the canvas and has gradually simplified her works of art. She said "It's because I hope my works convey the more copious messages to their viewers for their simple expression."
In several important exhibitions home and abroad, such as Los Angeles Art Show 2011 and Modern Art Preview 2010, her works and progressive view of art were globally appreciated. "The exhibitions gave me an opportunity to reinforce my art." she commented.
Recently, she received good recognition in the Affordable Art Fair held in Singapore. A Russian couple, during their honeymoon trip in Singapore, visited the fair and bought a piece of her work. After returning to Russia, they sent an email to her, saying "The picture is warming this cold country."
